  • i fell asleep listening to this guy!

  • why everyone love Kai ?! This man is also good.

  • Where is Kai, I'll wait until he does it.

  • I just have this camera, and been searching for the net for a good guide for beginner, and form just a single video, you explained it all!!! Thanks so much DigitalRev!!!! :D

  • wheres KAI?????

  • @thebootcampbabe in the future duh

  • Who would buy a 5D as their 1st DSLR....? o.o..* After much debate, I've narrow my decision to either a 5D or a 7D as my first DSLR.... I would propably say me.. A camera is just a camera.. its the person that's behind the camera that matters..... a camera is just a tool for a creative eye... so, if i wish not to get held back from my creative side, then i should get a camera(tool) that will suite my needs and not one that will limit myself...

  • @Sync1081 Some one who is very smart.

  • @Sync1081 I traded in all my Nikon gear for Canon 5D Mark ll and just am loving the results! Full frame DOES make a difference. Also agree with Sync 1081 its not JUST the camera..(driving a Ferrari doesnt make you into a race car driver) ...its up to your creative eye but wow pushing the envelope with a camera that has that edge over over cameras thats nice. Happy shooting!! :-)

  • Creative Auto for noobies... a noobie shouldn't have a 5D mkII.....

  • i cant wait to get mine next week

im so amped up for it

  • why did they put a CA-mode (noobie-mode) on a 3.000$ camera?? I mean.. who would buy the 5D as their first DSLR?

  • Great video keep up the good work.

  • Oh its this guy..

  • Digital Rev ebay account rips people off, but your reviews are good

  • I think these "pre-Kai" videos should be deleted and redone

  • The table fails.

  • check my video shot in india

    canon 7d with 50 mm 1.4 and 17-40 4.0 L and 70-300 canon lenses

    handheld and without lights

  • Just bought the 5D Mark II. There is nothing like it! Amazing results. I have been deliberating over spending a lot more to buy this over the 7D. Have to say I feel it was worth it - that full frame view is perfect. I'm trying to step up to a more professional level of photography doing performer's headshots, events and ultimately (when I get the nerve) weddings. Make no mistake. This is the camera for everything, bar possibly sports photography. 8fps - great but kinda so what too!

  • Digitalrev without kai is like top gear without jeremy clarkson..

  • @11290427 I doubt Kai would be impressed by being compared with Jeremy Clarkson!! He'd have to start saying things like "the performance of this camera is ASTONISHING" and "the body weighs about as much as a packet of crisps" HAHA

  • got it... love it

  • 3:22 safety Shit etc. ???

  • @OrsonMyles safety shift :p the angle and lighting sorda covers up the F :p I had to watch it a few times too

  • I was so hoping for Kai......

  • Is there a camera that compares to the 5d mark ii? I can't wait any longer for the 5d iii.

  • WTF ? No Flash ???

  • @Joenoha On camera flashes suck.. If someone is going to shuck out $2500. They're probably going to get the 580 ex ii or something like it. :)

  • @Joenoha

What's the point of building a newb flash on a pro body? Considering you are spending $2,500 for it, why not throw in another 250 bucks for a good speedlight?

  • why would a newbie buy the canon 5d mark ii, the creative auto is actually a dumb addition.

  • I know the 5d MK2 is now regarded as OLD but get ready to bag a bargain when the Mk3 comes out – expected later 2011. I NEVER buy new new cameras as you ALWAYS get ripped off. My (now) very old Canon 20d is worth around £200 – full retail (when new) was over £1200… go figure!

  • neck's crap

  • this is my nerdy dream!!!

  • I want this review with KAI

  • shane music ^^

  • @fidorf nope: it's iMovie musics

  • @legeek08 ok

  • watch?v=d7uQHvqr6k0 This professional music video clip made with 5d mark ii in January 2011. Director: Altan Dönmez

  • CA for NEWBIES??? from this camera?? hmmm,.. i dont think newbies will have the interest to buy this,. lol this camera is absolutely for PROs,

  • @olegnabunyi In my opinion it seems more of a professional camera but easy enough to use for newbies.

  • One more month, and It'll be mine. Can't wait. Full frame will be perfect for my photography.

  • What's the song title? :-D

  • Just bought one today, very excited. Now the mk III will come out with updated AF and faster shooting mode. But hey, I own a 5D MkII :-)

  • @Bertster69 soooo jealous :D

  • @Bertster69 i got nikon d3x,no offence~

  • newbies

  • it's got a high Megapixel, and a full frame sensor, but it has such a slow fps :( But it's still a great camera ^~^ I wish i could afford it..but I'll settle with my 60D for now

  • any good without the lens? body only?

  • @jeystonemusic Very silly question. Its the same without the lens, Just it doesn't have a lens.

  • @madman778 I just don't appreciate this body only/brain only culture..every camera should have some sort of default lens..some basic functionality...it is misleading

  • @jeystonemusic Why not? I have pretty decent glass collection and would hate to pay extra for rubbish lenses I will never use anyway. Body Upgrade is the way to go for me. But different strokes for different customers; that's why Canon sells kits and bodies only. Works for everyone except.. for those who want every1 to have the same needs as they have. Does that even make sense? =)

  • Which is the Nikon version equivalent to the Canon 5d Mark II and 7d?

  • am i the only one who likes the arrow buttons better than the giant wheel?

  • Creative auto is a joke - newbies don't strat with 5d mark - and who buys a dslr to use it in auto...

  • @cubeproduktion I think you would rather wait for the 1Ds Mark IV or the 5D Mark III :) The 1Ds Mark IV is coming for sale in a few months or so.

  • @kjartan95 I chose the 1Ds Mark III for durability, built-in battery grip, cool battery, nice accessories, its a flagship model!

  • @cubeproduktion Nice choice! Congratulation, I am thinking that my next camera will also be a fullframe body. Make a review on your 1Ds Mk III, I don't see many good reviews of it on youtube yet ; )

  • @cubeproduktion Actually, I haven't got it, I have to wait for till the middle of august to get it since my 7D was 6000 plus my L lens 5000=11000 so I did spent a lot of money :(

  • @cubeproduktion The 5D mark II is a perfect companion to the 7D. I just love how these two are like sibilings, both with their unique personality. I use my 5D for wide angle, and portraits, while I use my 7D to capture those unforgiving moments, sports, fast action, and just stuff you have to keep holding your shutter down.

  • @Purepromedia I like the 1Ds Mark III.

  • @cubeproduktion If you have to ask then you shouldnt be buying a Camera like this

  • dear santa.... :)

  • what's this shit with the CA? a neebie? Why wouldn't he buy that awesome full frame sensor DSLR?! the 450D would do the job then!

  • stop turning that hot thing can't resist

  • This is the best review ive seen so far!

  • la mark III quando di preciso?io so novembre 2010

  • I am in love with this camera

  • very long fingers guy

  • Hey a little about video production. Pair your audio channels I'm getting your voice in one ear and the music in the other. Also, there's an annoying hum, get a proper mic.

  • @lureyourkidsinvan that's the way you thank people?!!!

  • Holy shit, your fingers are long!

Also, I own this camera. :)

  • I'm a Nikonist, but I would go Canon betwwen D700 and 5D2

  • ciao,è veloce per fare foto sportiive?

  • @giannuzzo8991 ciao, io ne ho usato questa macchina per fare foto durante partite di calcio del mio figlio. Fa le foto bellissime!

  • You have no idea how bad I want this camera : (

  • WHERE'S KAIII???

  • the 5D mark II is my favorite camera, even a bad photographer would look good when using this camera.

  • @fivedigital Then I need this camera! Hahaha

  • i''m sorry but i think i like the PENTAX K-X better and did you say backtrey for battery?

  • Can you tell me how to set the 5D Mark II ISO below 200 and Auto? My camera does not give me the option to go below 200 or Auto.

  • Chinese man I can tell.... Wing chun!!! IP man!! Bruce lee!!

  • By the time i debate between 7D and the 5D II a replacement for the 7D would probably have come out. However for the price I believe the 7D has the qualities I need. Will now see what canon comes up with in the meantime. Love the review

  • Comment removed

  • so does that mean that the 5D is better than the 7D

  • @fizzledazzle well actually both has different advantages. 5D Mark II is more for studio photography, scenery shootings, macro shootings. 7D is more on sports photography, journal or anything that you need to capture in high speed without losing any shots. =)

  • 1k more for full frame. Hmmm, I don't know if it is worth it. I hear that as he cost for full frame goes down in a few years Canon will offer it in ALL of their pro cameras. I'm still debating getting the 7d, there is still so much going for it.

  • Note to 5D owners or future owners... Keep your flash cards in sealed hard plastic containers! No not leave them loose in your camera bag because even if the smallest piece of dust gets into 1 of the pin holes, it will break of bend a pin in the camera card slot. It is a severe pain in the rear to fix and is not covered by the warrenty. In my case the pin broke at the front and the connecting back part fell into the camera and shorted on the /DC converter. Had to import a fuse from England. grrr

  • @TheEVILutionist Thanks for the info. I'm a 7D owner, but I'm sure I could run into the same problem if I don't keep my cards in the plastic cases. Thanks

  • How to expand ISO? :-)

  • great review check out my diy follow focus unit it may help you out

  • I wonder why they put "Creative Auto" mode on these high end cameras.. If you are spending thousands of dollars on a professional camera you should probably know what you're doing...

  • @AlexDeMars123

Probably because it is the midpoint between the plastic fantastic rebel series and the kidney selling 1D mark III / IV. I do not consider myself a professional, nor well versed in photography, but I do want quality. This is the camera that I probably will buy for next 10 years, and grow from.

  • Although I'm a canon fan, nikon has a better control layout in their cameras.

  • Yep this seals, *gets credit card* 5D MK II it is.

  • Creative auto for beginners who dont know how to set ISO and exposure? that's what this is about? i wonder who they expect to buy these cams...

  • ZJUMPS33,

    You are obviously a photographer.

However, don't discount the uses in the video market. DSLR's began use in movie's like The Matrix, and now they've assumed a special spot in film production. These cameras can mount in any spot where a large video camera is not an option (car int/ext, steadicam, stunt, etc). And it is much more expendable than a $200k motion picture camera.

  • man that creative auto mode just shows the world is becoming more uncreative and less imaginative...

  • It's ok it just makes my job easier. The less creative wannabe photogs get, the more business the real ones get. Think of it as a balance of life...like Avatar.

  • @PlaceProductions Yeah, we should just give up on creativity and take pictures of products so we can rake in some cash! Now THAT is what photography is about!

  • @PlaceProductions

Lol. You act like your Ansel Adams or something. Of course, where you see the lack of competition, or the lack of caring in your competition as a good thing, Ansel would have seen as the beginning of the death of photography.

Yeah, no. You're definitely not like him. In soooooo many ways.

  • wow can nikon fanboys get any stupider? who gives a c*** about FPS when most people who use a full frame sensor use it for portrait or landscape photography. each tool for a different purpose. you dont hear pros complaining that it doesnt have 8FPS or my movie capability sucks! they dont NEED it, they got the 5D for its Full Frame capabilities and accept its drawbacks.

  • Exactly, 1 fps covers my needs most of the time hehe...

  • @zjumps33 what does full frame do? Is it noticeable?

  • @fullboxxskater A full frame sensor delivers the same angle of view as a frame of 35mm film (as it's the same size). This means that a 50mm lens will equal 50mm on a full frame sensor, where on an APS-C sized sensor a 50mm lens would equal 80mm. Full frame sensors also offer better noise performance, and can achieve a shallower depth of field. Full frame sensors are better suited to people who use wider lenses, and APS-C sensors are better suited to people who prefer longer focal lengths.

  • @zjumps33 It's pretty clear you can't use this camera for sports. It's AF system is shit for anything moving.

  • @snowboardbum its pretty clear u didnt read my comment.

  • @zjumps33 Oh that makes sense...because you're sitting right next to me reading my mind, right? Who cares what brand, people don't use full frame cameras for just portrait or landscape. If anything it's better to use a crop sensor for landscape because of the greater DOF. Regardless, people use it for the low light capabilities, true wide angle and shallow DOF compared to crop. "Clearly" many people care about FPS because "...each tool for a different purpose".

  • @snowboardbum the "greater DOF" is still an illusion of a cropped sensor. its the same DOF whether its on a FF or a cropped just like a cropped sensor gives the illusion of being a higher mm length. your still cropping an image. same lens. same DOF.

  • @zjumps33 Actually, FF gives greater DOF because you can be closer to the subject (physical distance), while on crop sensor you would have to be further away in order to have the same framing. You hv to move back (physically) a bit using your crop camera because the crop makes the frame tighter. Thus, you can be closer to the object on FF than on crop, which is why FF gives better DOF, if that makes sense...

  • why?

  • d300???? hahahahaha u gota be kidding , u need to lear a little about photography and stop using the auto mode

  • Yeah, "Obamah".

    THAT figures.

    Thanks DigitalRev for posting this!

  • Beats pushing & hold a button down and then rotating a dial...

  • AF on d300s dmovie, 8fps ..hmmm? which one should i get between this two

  • Video wise or Photo wise, if video go for the 5dmark2, IF YOUR just using video on occasion, and MOSTLY USING THE DSLR for pictures, then go for the d300s

  • Lets see how much profit you get after buying this lol. 8000 dollars for a camera.

  • I'm entering a contest you win this baby. Probably shouldn't have watched this video... It's gonna make me want it even more!

  • cud u pls, uhhh, give it to me??? :)

  • 5D Mark II with either 24-70 or 24-105 looks real solid. I also like the way Canon offers more economical 70-200mm f/4.0 IS as well as the f/2.8 IS version, more options than Nikon, more bang for the money.

  • God I want this camera.

  • @iwuvdelta I just bought it!

  • I don't really think that any new person to DSLR photography is really going to spend £2000 on a camera. I think also that If you buy one of these you need to definaltly know about basic exposure concepts such as shutter speed, f-stop's and ISO etc. Also this camera is aimed at semi-pro's and high end amertuers.

  • what gay music

  • what is kind of funny in this video, is he spends about 1/4 of the video explaining that people who are not familiar with SLR's can just use the creative auto feature, why would someone who doesn't know that much about SLRs blow £2,500 on the camera (without lens) waste of time putting that on the 5D Mk2. good camera though

  • it really pissed me off canon added a noob button, couldn't they add a button that was usefull for people who took the time to learn photography and read the freakin manual.

Canon you can add noob buttons to the rebel line all you want. But when it comes to the pro camera's listen to your users.

  • FUCK YOU MAN THATS a Genial Camera !!!

  • arlenep930-----the d90 is not better than this 5dmk2----the canon is a full frame sensor which is twice the size of the small sensor on the nikon

  • hahahahahahahahaha ...I just can't believe how naive u are,,, have u ever used a camera?????

  • what is a good beginners camera?

    and reasonably priced.

  • I Think Eos 450 or 1000 but the sheapest is nikon d40

  • 400d from canon. great little camera. mind you it is an slr camera.

  • Nikon or Canon or whatever just shoot or use what you have... The industry has done amazingly well in making people think they "need" new cameras every year while the real differences are actually minuscule in the shots one gets if one is actually more concerned about the image being created and not the photograph being taken. Hopefully you can understand the difference. Go Shoot!!!

  • i am definately getting that camera this march!!!!!!i just need money for lenses to back up this body.......

  • yep, the camera is nothing without good lenses.

  • and the 5d is nothing without L class lenses.

  • This must be an awesome body. Although

    3 frames per second?!?!?!?!

    What's that all about?

  • Probably to differentiate the camera from the 1Ds Mark III in case it takes away the 1Ds' market. The 1Ds Mark III shoots at 5fps, at 21.1 Megapixels.

  • Seems the 1D Mk III and it's 10fps would be the more popular camera over the 1Ds III 5 fps even though it's not FF.

  • sasktank---no it's not.. it's 3.9 fps

  • can't believe you are just intersted in the video thang. its just a bonus.PLus you'll need an incredible set up to use the most of it.its good for a quickie vid but nothing more .

  • I'm sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. You cannot get a better video camera than that for that price. It's Full HD (not that big of a deal) - the big deal is that you can use lenses for DOF which you cannot on regular camera besides with DOF adapters.

  • so why doesnt a 5dmkii has a built-in flash? a question commonly asked by canon and nikon fellows on the sony a900

  • Because the kind of people who buy a 5DII wouldn't use a built-in flash. If they needed to they'd use an external flash.

  • ya that's right. so for those who keep asking why no built-in flash for a900, please, it's tiring to hear it again and again

  • You don't have to worry anymore they release a firmware update already and all been fixed, for me i already placed an order together with the 85mm f1.2 II lens with it and hopefully it will be here tommorow.

  • lots of lots but what about the 'Black Dot issue? darn!

  • Enough of the live view bullshit. Too much emphasize has been put into DSLRs with live view. Like its a gadget for amateurs.

  • Astro-photography makes live view an extremely necessary addition because it requires very fine and careful focusing which would normally be difficult to achieve the the optical view finder, among other things.

  • I agree with you brotha, simple things like live view mode can give you many use so stop hati'n and star participati'n.

  • Amen! That's why I got the 40D. All my night shots were out of focus!

  • you can't use the video function without turning on live view!

  • it could also give you more flexibility when taking pictures at more inconvenient angles, less guess work.

  • "CA is settings for newbies" Hahahaha... crack me up. The only newbie to get 5D Mark II ...hmmm Paris Hilton. She'd prolly get a new set when she finds out battery is used up. LOL.

  • OK, what I meant was... WHO in the newbie world will get themselves a 5D Mark II... LOL.

  • Thanks for the video, good preview, I'm waiting on my pre order for this amazing camera.

  • awesome camera, cant wait to get mine

  • You can watch other vids made with this camera (or any other HD uploads that were successfully encoded by YT) by appending the URL with &fmt=22

Some have uploaded QT camera originals - YT encodes them in 720p 2Mbps VBR h264 and the quality is like vimeo. Audio is much improved.

Great camera but can't afford one right now let alone find one.

  • Im just waiting for this to be on the market. You gotta love it.

  • god i love this camera..i cant waite to get it...i need to sell my motorcycle first...if anyone wants to buy a 2007 yamaha r6 black and charcoal let me know hahahaha...

  • Just curious, i havent seen nikon make a video cam before. Have you?.

  • Canon d3? hey wake up there's no such CANON d3, man your weird and hilarious hahahahaha!

  • yes i know

    it was the nikon d3

    ahhahahaaa

    lol

    ohh man
