Yes, let's. It's unfortunate that you are not intelligent enough to debate something without stooping to name calling. Have a great day, and I know you will - because you live in America. Sledge out!
alot of people forget that this song was written at a time when americans were fighting for theyr freedom against tyranny....now, when i see the flag of america, i think of tyranny....our government and the people that support it, have destroyed america...this is no longer a land of the free, it is the land of oppressive government and dictatorship...a land where the government is the master, and the people are subjects of the master...the opposite of the america over 200 years ago
@longfootbuddy I wonder if you have traveled outside the United States or if you have ever lived in another country. I have traveled around the world and lived in 2 other countries and it has given me a great appreciation for our nation. Sure, things are not the same as they were 200 years ago. Maybe they are in some ways worse, but I have no doubt this is still the greatest nation on earth and it is a privilege to be an American.
@thundersledge i know you can name plenty of more oppressive places to live, but its upsetting for me to see what we are losing and have already lost...americans take such pride in theyr freedom, youd think they would be quick to protect it, instead of handing over liberty in exchange for protectionism and false security...we are losing what we once had ..to most appearently, its not yet seen for some reason..the only things they are freeing us of, is our rights and liberty..slowely , but surely
@thundersledge freedom to keep what is mine, freedom to live as i see fit and be my own master, freedom to carry a gun and defend myself and property without paying fees and getting permission from a state to tell me what kind of gun i can have, the amount of ammo i can have, and whether i can carry it in the open or concealed, freedom to buy body armor, freedom to grow plants, freedom from the taxes, intrusion, regulation, thuggery and rape of the opressive government and those that enforce it
@longfootbuddy Andrew Jackson's administration began passing the first gun control laws in the early 1800s. Our forefathers also paid taxes and their businesses were subject to regulation. There have always been substances that the government has designated as illegal. I am not arguing that any of these policies are right or wrong. My point is that they are not new. I still do not understand what freedoms have been lost in the last 200 years.
@thundersledge you dont need to argue, the policies are wrong.. im not saying this stuff is new, im saying its out of place in a free country...so if americans want to go on and on about being free, they shou;d actually be free, and adopt a government that protects rights of the individual, and preserves an envirement where we can actual live free from opressiv and unnecessary intrusions from others, to pursue our happiness...black slavery was a blatent contradiction to freedom, im not saying
@longfootbuddy Agreed. That's why I was taking exception to your comment that things are the opposite of the way they were 200 years ago. We haven't been attacked since 1812. We have the world's #1 economy. Life expectancy is longer than ever. We have one of the highest standards of living. None of that was true 200 years ago. You are right - if we want to be more free we have to do it ourselves and stop voting in the same career politicians. Our forefathers did not intend it to be a career.
@thundersledge i dont want to sacrifice freedom for a standard of living, #1 economy, life expectancy, or any other protectionism from government...the only thing i want the government to do, is protect the states outter borders from foreign invasion, keep peace between the states, and defend our rights and liberties as individuals...this is the opposite of what the current federal government is doing...its become our master, and is intruding on all aspects of our lives..
@longfootbuddy I suggest moving somewhere like Rwanda or Sudan. There you can have whatever weapons, ammunition, and illicit substances you want. There are no zoning codes, no taxes, no regulation. The government will stay out of your life completely. Let me know how it works out for you.
@thundersledge no, i like theyr governments less, theyr even farther from my ideal government than the u.s.a. is... and your completely wrong about them staying out of my life completely, in fact, theres little truth to anything you say.. you clearly want to strip americans of theyr freedom, and youll say anything you can to justify it, including denying our loss of liberty, defending stripping us of rights, stealing our money, and controlling us in exchange for protectionism
@thundersledge to suggest i go to some shitty ass country like rwanda, shows what a twister of truth you are...what ive described, is nothing like rwanda, which is a lawless land of corruption...you are a complete fool, and are trying to lead people astray by your ridiculous comments...i want a land of law, that protects the individual in his pursuit of happiness and freedom...you compare that to rwanda....your an utter assfungus that doesnt deserve another reply from me
@longfootbuddy You are describing a utopia. You want laws enforced, but don't want the government to have control over you. You want a government to provide you with services and protection, but you don't want to pay taxes to support it. Who draws the line? Who decides what is too much control and what is an effective government? You? Me? Everyone's view is different (and here we are both free to express them), but no matter what government is instituted, you can never please everyone.
@longfootbuddy By the way, I'm not some extremist who wants the government to have total control or anything like that. I vote moderately for both parties. I own guns. I disagree with some of our laws. I do not think our government is perfect. I am American. I will not stand silently when someone suggests our country is in ruin. I have the right to express my opinion, as do you.
@thundersledge ye you can express your stupidity and blindness if you want.. and you can continue voting for your two parties and pretend this country isnt on a road to hell if you want...you can flap your fat mouth about being proud to be american all you want, and your still gonna be a dumbass, and contribute to the problem with america...your incapable of hearing what im saying, and instead want to twist around what i say to make it seem like i want anarchy or something.. so lets just stop
