This is definitely the most cover of Neil Diamond's "A Little Bit Me, Little Bit You"! I personally enjoy this more than the original version. It has so much more feeling and it seems quite alive. Eric Johnson is definitely an inspiration to me and he's the Austin Texas Icon! Long live Eric Johnson, respect him and enjoy the music he spreads!
Sort of combining the famous Hendrix/Monkees tour into one. I read recently that the Monkees got Jimi to play on the tour with them just so they could have the opportunity to see him play up close.
@336kgf I don't think Joe would dare to chance having EJ as the first act, not at least if Joe had a single ounce of self-preservation in him, that is. Getting one's shredding back-side whipped by somebody with taste for a change would be too hard to bear for anyone I believe. ;)
@RulesVT Yeah, I probably enjoyed the monkees' version more too, it had that happy go lucky, beatles era sound that just makes you want to smile, no matter what. But this is a much better guitar piece (surely far from crap). I'd like to see Davy Jones stashing picks in his mouth to bust out some quick slap, making small adjustments to the knobs to achieve that perfect tone and utilize that many different picking techniques all without interrupting the flow of the song.
@RulesVT Really, I think this cover exists just for the irony, "wait, Eric Johnson is going to play a Monkees tune? Ooooh, I get it, he just kicked it's ass...haha"
Okay, very amazing playing on display as always, but the song itself leaves me cold. But kudos to him for taking a chance and covering it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
this guy is amazing ,, if you dont like this type of musicc and his unique style of playing dont comment because you dont know what your talking about.
the people who dont like this havnt got a clue how hard it is to play any of this guys stuff ,,he is amazing :)
if the guitarist from the Monkeys tried to play this version his hands would explode...EJ took a cheesie bubble-gum song and made it into something impressive
Perfect drummer for this lineup. Perfect sound man for this drummer. This has become my favorite EJ song. NOTE: watching Manic Depression by him, I see the Buddy Holly stage presence.
this toon has ONE pre-requisite; MAKE IT FUN!!! he SO succeeds in this endeavor, & in spades. it doesn't HAVE to be as good (or better) than the original (which it isn't), but a good song will always out. period. i LUV that he did this, & he obviously enjoys doin' it. & i think it sounds bloody great! ya gotsta take it in the spirit with which it was offered, & you'll think so too...

Life is scary (amongst other things).
YOUR POINT?
..OR Maybe I should just ask "which post is scaring you?"
I think the "scariest" part of all this is the LACK of response. - I'm scared that EJ will just disappear into oblivion. [NOT! - LMAO]
