I rented this dvd series from the library. Amazing! There's a woman doing it,too. They don't get paid much like: $20-25,000 a month-to do this! not enough at all. Should be $50,000 a month at least to start! Very brave people. After watching it-I don't think I'll apply!

You can can denigrate this show all you want, but when push comes to shove, none of you would have the balls to do this job. That is why you don't like them. This is one of my favorite shows. It takes us to another world which otherwise we would have no knowledge of. I never new about ice road trucking until I starting watching this show several years ago. I can't get enough of it, especially this season, which in my opinion is the best one.
Diamonds seem like the worst investment in the world. DeBeers literally has an endless supply of them sitting in giant warehouses. They're only a semi=precious stone. Now they've got Chinese people to demand diamonds for marriage. It's an artificial scarcity controlled by Bilderberg types.
Drama mill. In recent years IRT has become bipolar and anticlimactic. Counterfeit drama is all it offers. Imagine if IRT producers were in charge of one NASCAR race. No one who watches the show cares if a truck dives off the road, sinks to the bottom of the Ocean or the bottom of the TV ratings. Its just as dangerous and boring watching the show as it is to become an Ice Road Trucker. My couch could drop through the Earths crust or I could lose my mind by watching Ice Road Truckers.

Its kind of funny how all of the "ice road truckers" in the show were n where to be found this 09 season , after talking to Nuna dispatch, I learned that they were all banned from the Tibbit Contwayto road.
If you actually go up and run the road, you would see how much BS was put into the movie.
My peeve is the attitude the show, through dramatization, seems to be teaching the masses: that one trucker is worth more than another.
I would encourage everyone to show all truckers and the nature of their work, with equal respect, decency and courtesy, regardless where one lives and drives.
I think you got it pretty much right. The only thing I would have to argue a point is, knowing rick in person I have some insight to the show. They call it a "reallity show" but it's got a basic script to follow. Then edited to look "entertaining". So the opinions on the drivers themselves maybe skewed a bit due to the shows "characters". I but I do agree, no driver is no "tougher" due to location or the surface driving on
Do you think Rick was dramatizing the "crybaby" persona a bit? If so, he did a pretty convincing job of it. That's what I would call good acting. Even so, I had to side with him on occasions where he had a legitimate concerns. But like you say, there's the "entertainment" factor to consider.
The various charactures all remind me of co-drivers and co company drivers I've had driven with & observed.

Yeah, like I said, I know Rick personally and he's not the goofball they make him out to be. Hugh, tho I haven't met him yet, Ric has said Hugh is a good guy. Nothing like the show made him to be either. I could get into alot of how they film and edit, but that would get to be too long a reply. But take for instance the alternator. When Rick changed that out, the crew told him to keep the batt connected and frig around with it. He's getting paid, so he did what they wanted
I imagine a thesis could be written on filming and editing. A lot of work, a story board to keep track of etc. I remember when it first began, thinkin' how long will such a show keep the audience's attention. Of course I was comin' from reality's perspective. In a way, I am glad they are showing the world of the truck driver. A few other show have followed. I am just concerned the masses will get the wrong message like they have in the past.

And yes my Bn Kw had an air dryer, 4 way full locking Diffs....Not much in Europe could match my Kenworth for durability.
I could never understand why the producers didn't even mention we pulled double tankers full of diesel weighing 63500 kilograms alongside Hughs "oh so mighty" 36000 kilogram loads. But seriously I'll answer inteligient questions about the ice road. :)

The movie was well done, but extremly blown out of proportion to attract viewers, but if I showed you an hour movie about how the ice road is constantly surveyed 24/7 for strengh and thickness, well I couldn't scare the uneducated:)

Haha, this show went on air on one of our channels. Ridiculous show, ancient truck technology and forced storytelling. Weve been driving on ice since the invention of the combustion engine.
Don't You have diff locks, or air dryers? And some truck always in the shop, can You drive even one day in wintertime witout breakdown. I'd be bancrupt if I'd have an american truck :D

I rented this dvd series from the library. Amazing! There's a woman doing it,too. They don't get paid much like: $20-25,000 a month-to do this! not enough at all. Should be $50,000 a month at least to start! Very brave people. After watching it-I don't think I'll apply!

You can can denigrate this show all you want, but when push comes to shove, none of you would have the balls to do this job. That is why you don't like them. This is one of my favorite shows. It takes us to another world which otherwise we would have no knowledge of. I never new about ice road trucking until I starting watching this show several years ago. I can't get enough of it, especially this season, which in my opinion is the best one.

Drama mill. In recent years IRT has become bipolar and anticlimactic. Counterfeit drama is all it offers. Imagine if IRT producers were in charge of one NASCAR race. No one who watches the show cares if a truck dives off the road, sinks to the bottom of the Ocean or the bottom of the TV ratings. Its just as dangerous and boring watching the show as it is to become an Ice Road Trucker. My couch could drop through the Earths crust or I could lose my mind by watching Ice Road Truckers.

Its kind of funny how all of the "ice road truckers" in the show were n where to be found this 09 season , after talking to Nuna dispatch, I learned that they were all banned from the Tibbit Contwayto road.
If you actually go up and run the road, you would see how much BS was put into the movie.

My peeve is the attitude the show, through dramatization, seems to be teaching the masses: that one trucker is worth more than another.
I would encourage everyone to show all truckers and the nature of their work, with equal respect, decency and courtesy, regardless where one lives and drives.

I think you got it pretty much right. The only thing I would have to argue a point is, knowing rick in person I have some insight to the show. They call it a "reallity show" but it's got a basic script to follow. Then edited to look "entertaining". So the opinions on the drivers themselves maybe skewed a bit due to the shows "characters". I but I do agree, no driver is no "tougher" due to location or the surface driving on

Do you think Rick was dramatizing the "crybaby" persona a bit? If so, he did a pretty convincing job of it. That's what I would call good acting. Even so, I had to side with him on occasions where he had a legitimate concerns. But like you say, there's the "entertainment" factor to consider.
The various charactures all remind me of co-drivers and co company drivers I've had driven with & observed.

Yeah, like I said, I know Rick personally and he's not the goofball they make him out to be. Hugh, tho I haven't met him yet, Ric has said Hugh is a good guy. Nothing like the show made him to be either. I could get into alot of how they film and edit, but that would get to be too long a reply. But take for instance the alternator. When Rick changed that out, the crew told him to keep the batt connected and frig around with it. He's getting paid, so he did what they wanted

I imagine a thesis could be written on filming and editing. A lot of work, a story board to keep track of etc. I remember when it first began, thinkin' how long will such a show keep the audience's attention. Of course I was comin' from reality's perspective. In a way, I am glad they are showing the world of the truck driver. A few other show have followed. I am just concerned the masses will get the wrong message like they have in the past.

I've seen tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes fog, ice, snow......etc...
The difference these guys are solo.
Sometimes, a team truck is a ticking time bomb. Sometimes you have to babysit for 6000 miles.
So..... the nonsense of "you have to be the toughest" is a bit of a stretch.
Different playground, different rules, different people, different hazards.
Alex was my favorite driver in this series. Hugh is a bit full of himself. Wouldn't last long elsewhere.

Liquids and gases, mind you, are not transported exclusively in tanker trailers. They are also hauled in dry vans and reefer units as well.
That's not my point, though.
It's one thing to regulate the truck driver, quite another to regulate the population.
The driver can be trained to handle HazMat in general and specific, but the gen. pop. is left oblivious & thus the
hazard is disrespected.

This is nothing dangerous job.We drive loggins in every winter in iceroads 30-50tons one drive.
Trucks is airconditions,sandmachines and spikewheels.
I drive Scania and Sisu 8*2/4 and 4axels trailer.
I want go drive there iceroads in Swedish(Scania or Finnish(Sisu)truck there are is world best truck drive in winter.
