  • Melodiously rendered . One of the great compositions of saint purandaradsa

  • One of the great compositions of Saint Purandara daasa melodiously rendered by the artist.

  • this is telugu right?

  • @FascistFashion this composition by Sri Purandaradasaru is in Sanskrit Language and not in Telugu.

  • @FascistFashion: Great compositions like this in Sanskrit and Kannada by the founder of Karnataka Music (aka Carnatic) Sri Purandara Daasa motivated the following composers to compose in Sanskrit and Telugu.

  • @kandaasa : Carnatic music existed way before Sri Purandaradasar though he was the one who formalized the study of carnatic music. Although the tamil way of saying it is "karanataka sangeetham" it has nothing to do with present day karanataka. Sri Purandaradasar was a supremely great devout Bagavatha. But there is no record that he motivated the carnatic trinity to compose later in telugu and sanskrit through gure sishya parampara etc.

  • @Sangeetharasikan As some said Music existed before Purandara Daasa (SriPD) just like apples were falling before Newton. It is Sri PD who innovatively formulated today's Karnataka Music (I agree with you the name is not related to Karnataka state that was named in 1970). Thygaraja's first Guru his mother Seetham was an exponent of Daasa's compositions. The Trinity who came about 200 years after SriPD, made evolutionary improvements to Karnataka Music following the guidelines of SriPD.

  • If one understand the lyrics and its meaning, will take the soul to high and higher heights of Bliss in understanding this Bhajan all in HIS praise.

  • If you could, perhaps a translation will be nice? The melody of Sindhubhairavi alone transports you to Vaikuntam but to really picturize it through understanding of the lyrics will be such a wonderful experience.
