I think he means can you only use the wingsuit to slow down and safely land without the use of anything but the wingsuit itself.

And you possibly can if the wind is just right you know a thing or two about air braking, and you're incredibly strong. But otherwise, I wouldn't dare try it.

I am preparing for base jumping, and even if I find "normal" parachuting a little bit boring, 300+ jumps is my goal before serious base jumping. Unfortunately many have died during base jumping, and I guess many more will, but still this is a risk we just have to take into account. PS! One reason I got interested in base jumping was a near parachuting accident (main didn't open and a "moderate" crash), but the rush having to rely on the reserve on low latitude was amazing (afterwards).

@TheBlackeyegalaxy If you deploy with a 180 or a line twist and hit the wall under canopy you might survive because of that helmet. Many BASE jumpers died because of not wearing a helmet in circumstances like that and they might have survived if they wore one.

Trying to find an older video of someone (believe it was Loic Jean Albert) soaring over a road a few feet off the ground. It's not the one where he flies past the road which I have seen in several videos. I have never seen anything like it in any of the other proximity flying videos. Any ideas? @DoshStash These guys loose altitude at a constant rate. For them to gain altitude the would need to go much much faster. This was done by a guy who attached mini jet engines to his feet, although he may have just managed to stay level. As for the just a bit, I imagine you can flare up and trade speed for hieght but its not going to be a whole bunch. maybe enough to avoid hitting the trees if you get you line wrong :)

Why is Loic now a pilot? Was he injured? Can one be too old for this? What about women? Are there any? I just learned of this three days ago, and have done NOTHING since then but look at videos. @Sorry165 You need 250 skydiving jumps, then base jumps. Very dangerous to do what you see. So many talented wingsuit jumpers died this srping and summer. About Loic - he broke his backbone during one of his jumps, not sure if ws jumps. But he was ok later. So he decided to do less risky things like being a pilot. @Sorry165 There's no defined age limit, as long as you're fit and healthy. Yes women do this too. As for training; you need either 200 skydives in 18 months, or 500+ total before you can start wingsuit TRAINING. Then you need to become a highly expirerenced wingsuit flyer. And then there's the B.AS.E. Training too. Generally these guys have 1000's of jumps.

My advice: Start saving money and book a jump course at your nearest dropzone.

He founded a company FlyYourBody which produces wingsuits, like S-Fly Expert seen here.Loic is one of the TRUE pioneers, the best of the best, unmatched skills till date. He is now a plane pilot. @MynameisElliott Yes, but it would have to be a very strong wind. Have you ever thrown a paper airplane with flaps into a headwind and seen it hover in place for a while? Its the same thing - except of course the paper airplane is a lot lighter so you would need a heck of a lot more wind for a human to stay perfectly level. Could be theoretically possible in a storm-force wind, but that would of course be incredibly dangerous to attempt.
