..that "voice" sounds like a ham radio Repeater, or Amateur radio as many call it. it uses an automated system that calls out the repeaters ID. It does take a bit of getting used to.
The frequency's they use can cut through thunderstorms (unlike satellite tech that craps out) It really helps with chasing.
i remeber this i was out of power all night then it all of a sudden the light came back on and then a huge light came on out side and things went dark. this was scary with no power.
"why don't I hear the sirens in the video, and is the photographer a law enforcement officer? "
No, I am a trained storm spotter / amateur radio operator, And during spring, spend alot of time storm chasing in the plains.
There were alot of controversial parts of this video, the video was sent to NWS for review, and there are a couple of points where a wall cloud and possibly a funnel were visible. I did a 3 hour damage survey afterwords, and the damage was similar to a Weak EF1 Tornado
NOAA did classify it as an EF1. About being a storm spotter, you are a good one. But on the topic of the Sirens, in Allen, TX, just north of Plano, the sirens were going off, and on the news, they were warning us about some rotation, yet not enough to form a hook echo. And I believe it began in McKinney or Allen, and moved south on the west side of I75
@code3productions Umm, Mabey there isn't tornado sierns I live in Forney AND we DO NOT HAVE TORNADO SIERNS!!! a train comes by and toots its horn so thaaaaaank u!
Was on duty that night at Sta. 4, Plano. Was listening to net and heard all of the PF reports so I got up to look out the window to the Southwest. Saw multiple flashes, then heard the characteristic freight train sound. Ran down hall to warn others at station. Somehow, we had very little damage. Folks to North off Micarta had much more damage.
AH! Allen suffered, well west Allen did, poor Twin Creeks, they had like 1000 fences knocked down. My father is a carpenter in the area, he swore after this storm he would never do fence work after a storm here again.
Sirens never sounded. Storm was moving so quickly that it caught most off guard. There were a number of questions as to why our Dispatch did not set off the alert. ??????
I remember this storm!! it went over my house and i woke up to my house shaking!! but the sirens in plano didn't go off like the other surronding cities!!
i remember that morning. all the electric wires outside were blowing up. The lightning was liek really powerful. the tornado formed right over my backyard and the wing blew my fence down. im surprised that that wa sonly an f1 tornado
Please disregard my comment on the other video from the April 10th storm. That's the storm that our Bradford Pear tree was struck by lightning in. It was intense. We had hail coming into my house from our chimney!
I literally drove under the circulation as it crossed GWB and 35
