I want to make a warmer to heat up water, this is called a stinger and i have seen this same thing done in jail along time ago. but i never saw it made though. I want to heat up a 5 gal. bucket of water. does anyone know how to do this using copper and stripped wire plugs in the safest way possible?
Don't worry - you won't get a shock from 1.5 volts! Could get hot in your pocket if it shorted out in there though! Also, think you made Oxygen & Hydrogen (Google electrolysis of water) so you might blow yourself up! Then again probably not enough to blow yourself up :-)
...Wow. Please explain to me with VALID reasons why this doesn't work. Without simply stating that it wont work. And without retarded things like saying it's not enough voltage to have a current travelling through the coffee (which you previously stated).
And why do you want me to post a video if you don't even believe that the person who did this video actually got real results? Do you think this is a big conspiracy?
It takes 50 volts to pass through the skin and produce a noticable shock so a 1.5 volt battery will absolutely not in any way shock you, you could even put it in your mouth. Also the wires on a set of headphones are insulated so just wrapping them around the metal of the corn stick would not creat any sort of connection. The last point is a 1.5 volt battery does not have enough power to create a eletrical short through the liquid to heat it that there would be no chance in this working.
Yes a short will be created. Why would it not? Coffee has a resistance, and if you have a voltage source connected to a load, there will be current, and heat will be dissipated.
Did you not see her strip the wires? The stripped part was touching the metal. And current will flow through the cord, no matter if it's insulated.
Of course it will work, it will just take a long ass time. Stop pretending you understand this stuff.
@ElecEng91 if anything were to actually happen it might heat the coffee up 1 degree at the most. but they are saying that you should practice caution when doing this because a 1.5 volt battery will shock you when it never will.
Once again you have no reason for thinking it will only heat up one degree. Unless you did some calculation, but I don't think you did.
And yeah you are right that 1.5V will not hurt anyone but that doesn't make you less wrong about all the other incorrect things you said. And that has nothing to do with it working or not.
Your reasons for thinking it wont work were all wrong, why are you still arguing?
...I don't need to try it to know that it works. Unlike you I actually understand electricity.
Why are you still arguing? You were wrong about pretty much everything you said, get over it. Obviously it worked for the person who made the video, and the other people who said it worked for them.
What logical reason can you give for believing this not to work? Other than the incorrect bullshit you said earlier which wasn't even close to being right.
I'm not going to try it. Because I'm not going to waste my time proving something that is obviously possible. Just because I agreed with you on one obvious unrelated thing doesn't make you any less wrong about it not working,
Give me one logical reason backed by facts for not believing this will work. You HAVE to have at least one reason for thinking this wont work don't you? I mean I already explained to you exactly why this will work. Do you disagree with my explanation?
@ElecEng91 i never said that this wont work, i did say that at the most it might heat up the coffee 1 degree or less. now instead of arguing about it just try it, make a video of it and post it as a response, because at the moment neither of us are right, we are just both very opionated. so to just end the argument and prove who is right try it.
You said: "a 1.5 volt battery does not have enough power to create a eletrical short through the liquid to heat it that there would be no chance in this working."
You clearly said this wouldn't work. "no chance in this working". Ok? And you have no reason for thinking it will only heat it up one degree. That's a completely arbitrary number.
I'm not opinionated, it's a scientific fact. I don't know how you can't understand this.
I'm not going to waste my time and make a video to prove something extremely basic about electricity just because you are too stupid to understand something extremely simple.
Did you not even watch the whole video where she shows the temperature has gone up almost 20 degrees? If you don't believe that she actually got it to work why would you believe me? Who says I wouldn't just throw it in the microwave? Since YOU are the one who doesn't understand how this works, you should do this yourself because it's the only way you can be sure of it.
1. You didn't do this experiment nor believe anyone's results who have done this.
2. You don't understand how electricity works.
You first said that no current will flow through the coffee, then you later said that it will only heat it up less than a degree (an entirely arbitrary number). Well which is it? Does the coffee create a connection or not? Are you even going to comment on the fact that you changed your mind about this? Why?
What realtionship between wattage and temperature over a period of time did you use to decide that it will only heat it up one degree? Surely you have a reason for saying it wont heat up more than one degree right? You didn't just arbitrarily pick that assuming you were right did you?
has anyone else even thought of the battery getting too hot and exploding?

why use a earplug if you can use a piece of copper wire?
TheGiedow 1 year ago
@TheGiedow Either way is fine, just most people don't have copper wire lying around. :-)

@StinkadoodlePie that is true

no offense, but you could put it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it will be just as warm....just sayin'...

You don't KNOW that this doesn't work because:
1. You didn't do this experiment nor believe anyone's results who have done this.
2. You don't understand how electricity works.
You first said that no current will flow through the coffee, then you later said that it will only heat it up less than a degree (an entirely arbitrary number). Well which is it? Here are my questions
1. Does it heat up solids
2. Does it heat up other liquids or just coffee?

@ECWFilms I've only tried it on coffee, but it could easily work with, say, broth.
