Nice work...I just took the lazy route and got a blue LED vertical stand with 2 USB hubs in the back, and then connected a 4 port USB hub to that. Supports everything I need, Bluetooth headset, PS Eye, 250GB external HDD, flash drive and my HTC EVO 4G. The controllers??...they charge on docking station thru AC. HOLLA!!!!

@Dannyinclub Ain't it that obvious to you why MacSolidWorks would do such a thing. It's a visual flare thing so your not seeing loads of USB cables coming out of the PS3. They are nicely tucked away behind the console out of sight.

@Dannyinclub whats the point in that, it looks messy for permanent installations, the 360 has one over the ps3 on the usb port side, the old models all had 1 rear usb, the new ones have 3 rear usbs, so thats 3 rear 2 front, 5 in total! if only sony had just put one on the rear!

I, SOO wanna do that! Especially as my PS3 Slim has only 2 ports (My old YLOD 60GB has 4) but also I'd have the MicroUSB Controller charger connected to the back so it isn't in the way as much. I leave that plugged in all the time.

Because when you use 4 USB hubs you will have problems with your power. For example you wouldn't be able to charge off of all these USB ports. Or charge something and have an external 2.5 drive connected. Not going to work, not enough power.

It is easier to buy a set of another USB hub. But this is cool also,will the USB port break/burn whatever if you plug in a USB hub and used multiple controllers such as the guitar for Guitar Hero? I've heard that plugging in multiple devices in one USB using a USB extender or whatever break the PS3's USB.

yeah all you have to do if that happens is do a hard restart by holding the power button down for 5 secs you should be fine is resets the usb hub and graphics. and when they turn of its a saftey feature just incase they actually do short out! if you have a mac trya nd plug a usb device thats very demanding for power into it then you will understand better.

This happens to me after I upgraded to the 3.21 Firmware, I really don't know if the upgrade somehow "disabled" my ports, but also my card reader stop working, after several off and on, the card reader started to work again but the all the USB port still dead...

A better (and extremely hard mod) would be to take a ps2 to usb converter for ps3, then make PS2 ports for your PS3.

That would almost be worth it.

dumbass, anyone can do that. Their goal was to integrate it into the system and make it look seamless. the point was to be able to add the extra ports and not deal with all of the cables.

Technically you only have 5 USB ports now because you had two, plugged the hub into one ( thereby only leaving one left) and the hub added 4.
