Byrd, and his crew, wrote plenty of books. Easy to find, relatively cheap. "Little America", "Alone", etc. Read Paul Siple's biography, too, the "boy scout with byrd" who by late 1950's had spent more time in Antarctica than any other person on earthy.
Maybe you are aware, in the Morning of the Magicians from Jacques Bergier, also cited by Alvin Toffler, he writes about the new man that was seen by Adolf Hiler.
