I'm curious as to where the cables go for this. There didn't seem to be any place for the power cord or component cables to connect it to DVD/BlueRay or VCR (yes, I still use a VCR). Also, if the remote control is lost or not working, how does one reach the buttons on the TV?

Usually, the cables are run back through the wall. Alternatively, you can buy a flat cable cover at home depot and paint it to match the wall.
