Mijn broer Theo Ederveen zat bij dit kapel en heeft bij de inhuldiging van beatrix destijds het wilhelmus gespeeld.

this band recently amalgamated with the royal military band of the netherlands (dutch grenadiers) is that right?....why do many of the musicians wear their curb chains so slack ??

@louislungbubble Yes, you're right. It's a fusion between 2 bands: Koninklijke Militaire Kapel (Royal Military Band) who were always dressed in the traditional grenadier uniforms and the Johan WIllem Friso Kapel, the oldest military band we had. Why they wear their curb chains so slack? Maybe they lost weight............well, not all of them so I can see haha. But........still a great band.

@abwo47 lost weight..why didnt i think of that ,of course ! yeh you have great military bands in the netherlands ...its terrible to see cut backs due to unsympathetic politicians and accountants as you have few bands to start with , but the idea of wearing different uniforms to keep the traditions going is good and welcome.....band of the mounted arms is also doubling as another band i belive meaning they wear hussar-artillery - cyclist and another uniform as well..fantastic....marty

@louislungbubble yep, given the economical situation I fear that more bands will vanish. The army has still 4 bands/orchestras of which 2 with professional (conservatory schooled) musicians, the airforce has its own band and the marines, both professional too and the military police has a trumpet band that's all as far as I know.

@987654321MW Dit is gewoon kunst kerel... Ben zelf muzikant, en heb vaak meegespeeld met mensen van de voormalige KMK (helaas is die opgegaan in de JWF) en de marinierskapel... En waarom zou je niet van EN Metal muziek houden EN van deze muziek... Ik sta net zo makkelijk uit mijn plaat te gaan bij Motorhead (ken je vast wel, die gaseten presteren het om 2 PA's in 1 optreden te vernaggelen)... Succes (inmiddels al misschien afgerond ;-) ) met je AMO...

This is sad that the Joahn William Kapel and the Royal Military Band have been combined. You would think that the Dutch Gov would value what these two bands represent to their culture and history of their nation. As an American I am saddend by the loss of yet another great Euroepean Military band. We have great bands here in the US as well, but they are not on the same level as this!

De Koninklijke Militaire Kapel Johan Willem Friso is een samenvoeging van de vroegere Koninklijke Militaire Kapel en de Johan Willem Friso Kapel. Op Taptoes e.d. mag alleen in het uniform van Johan Willem Friso worden opgetreden. Het andere uniform met gouden tressen en kolbakken zie je alleen op prinsjesdag, troonswisseling e.d. De andere video van 2002 is nog van de oude Johan Willem Friso kapel.

There is still another video of Johan Willem Friso in 2002, but it is'nt the same band. In 2005 the Koninklijke Militaire Kapel and the Johan Willem Friso Kapel were joined together. They still have 2 different uniforms. At Tattoos it will always be this uniform; at official occasions for The Queen, it will be the other uniform of the Koninklijke Militaire Kapel.
