  • Alesi is very unrated driver..

  • jean .... king without a crown ... still a king

  • this video proves the races, music and life was better back in the 90s

  • we need more alesis, mansells, montoyas and paul tracys.

  • Love this guy, win(once) lose or draw he is always a racer, always a gentleman. F1 lost a good guy when Jean retired but DTM sure came out on top.

  • Should have won a few in 95 but for shitty reliability, I nearly cried at the nurburgring result, SO close to an epic win and He was hunting down Shuey for another potentially awesome one at Suzuka when the car shit itself.

I'd love him to have stayed at ferrari and gone head to head with MS, he'd have given him more headaches than Irvine.

  • @boing615

Ferrari wanted to keep him. Alesi didn't like Schumacher very much and probably knew he was going to sign a contract to become the designated number 2 driver. When Schumacher's seat in Benetton became available Alesi saw his chance to finally excel in a good car. Sadly the Benetton had been designed with Schumacher's driving style in mind (Herbert hated it in 1995) and Williams made possibly the best car they ever made (a record 12 wins in a season for them)

    Alesi had skills alright

  • if he would have been not so unluky he could have won the world championship in 1995... if you examinate all the races he was almost always the faster! I love this driver!

  • @Skallagrim77 I never thought anybody else would have believe that. I made my numbers myself back in 95 and he would have been in a position to fight for the WC if not for the reliability of his car. He retired while in 1st or 2nd place 5 times: spain, belgium, italy, japan and monaco where Brundle made him crash. If he wouldn't have retired in all those races, Ferrari could have raised their game and he would have been in contention to win the WC. If if if.

  • jean is the legend even though he never win WDC n 1 race win only...the best jean battle on track has 2 b the duel between senna in USA GP 1990...that was the 1st ever sign he can bcum potential champion one day which didnt happen sadly damm

  • Great F1 driver, in fact Alesi , James Hunt and Motoya are my favorite simply for their aggression and charisma, shame he never got a shot at the title that he deserved, i loved his hot headed attitude to racing, they say you alway like the driver the most like yourself in personality . .. me and Kimi Raikkonen would never get on .. . lol

  • Lol, Im friends with his daughter no joke...yeah he was a good driver.

  • This tribute is full of accidents on a boring music : (

  • You showed a lot of crashes here. That's not how I remember him.

  • @63Johno Yeah, It's not really a highligh reel

  • There was so many better images of Jean Alesi to show.

  • One of the best and last gentleman drivers

  • grande , Jean un grande mito a scritto un pezzo di f1

  • un pilota con il cuore...

  • You made a tribute to a driver with a Scatman John song? The hell...

  • Ridateci Jean ALESIII!

  • The guy always tried to entertaine the crowd.

  • One of my faw drivers, still cant belive he only got 1 win. He was is a great driver his time at Tyrell shows what a talent he was. Had hed been with Mclaren or Willimas he could have won a title.

  • Jean Alesi my best driver - dariusz from Poland, Jean good luck, your my cheampion... forever.

  • i feel bad for him that he didnt win a single title... he was so good and in the books he just stands with 1 win... way not enough for such a great driver

  • Er war ein Toptalent leider konnte er denn erwartungen nicht gerecht werden

    Tyrrell, Ferrari, Benetton, Sauber, Prost

  • @Formel1Fan89

    upps ich habe Jordan vergessen

  • It's hard to think he only ever won one race. Great driver with a great spirit.

  • he still drives for ferrari in sportscars with fisichella as his team mate

  • my favourite ever F1 driver! Aggressive, fearless, talented and very Very unlucky. Made for classic entertainment

  • one of the best drivers not to win a championship and more races.

  • wow... i go to the same school as his daughter, helena alesi and she's in my class :D and i went to her party and saw both of her parents :D

  • Is his daughter pretty?

  • yeah! veryyyyy!!! she is half Japanese

  • I miss you Jean !!

Your prize list is so short for a driver like you

In France since your retirement, we haven't good F1 drivers anymore

    Bourdais, Montagny, Grosjean aren't pretenders

Now we have only memories of Prost , Arnoux, Cevert you among many others!!!

  • alesi is and always has been a oily swarthy smelly greazy wanker. i loved it when he crossed nigel mansell, nigel grabbed the little scillian nigger by his throat and let him know who was the daddy.

  • Take a wet track, each driver in the same car with no electronics and guess which one will win....this french guy! He was driving with his heart and his balls (huge ones...) for the spectators....that's why he has got so many fans!

  • alesi is very good driver.

  • I cried during the podium at Montreal 95 and I aint an emotional bloke, by far and a way my favourite race driver of all time whose results don't tell the full story.

  • Same here

  • very very good music :D

I liked Jean Alesi...he was very friendly and I think he was a fast driver as well :D

Unfortunately he wasnt able to fight for the championship :(

But I like him :) He is a very good personality :D

  • He was up for the title,in 95

  • Sirpicowhatever is your nickname go to play golf, eat your egg, whatever boy, because you don't know shit about motorsports...

  • Fantastic work. The Scatman theme very close to Jean's mentality and career. A great one!...

  • Apologies for spelling Villeneuve wrong!

  • Unreliable at times, but mostly an amazingly fast driver with car control to rival Gille Villeneves. Italian blood sent him to Ferrari, which surely prevented him winning at leat one title with the Williams team, who also made him an offer for the 1991 season.

  • A legend! one of the Best Ferrari drivers

  • So, tell me sirpico123, what did you do in like besides fucking your mother.....

  • Let me guess ? You've never seen him drive, because you're 12 ... Anyway, this was one of the best drivers ever, to me at least. He got more out of that crap Ferrari they used to give him then anybody ever could. Not even Schuey.

  • Obviously sirpico123 isn't observant or respectful enough to realise blatant talent if it stares him in tha face ;)

  • He's legend...

  • Alesi is a class act.

  • Legend driver, i like him.

  • Alesi the legend at burnouts

  • love you Jean!! my favorite F1 driver of all time!!

  • Long live four our #27.

  • ALesi,Berger= GREAT DRIVERS.#27 #28 good times

  • Thanks!!! Super memories!!!

  • This is not the field for numbers. Being a winner is mainly heart, personality, relationship with the fans. Alesi won only a race but knew perfectly how to light the italian people. In numbers maybe is one of the least successfull Ferrari drivers but absolutely EVERYBODY loved him. In that period Ferraris were useless and broke all the time, he had talent so he could leave to McLaren or Williams. But he didn't. And for people who say "Winner is who wins a lot of races" I say Gilles Villeneuve..

  • Italians don't care about their drivers?? I am a Brit and I know that is nonsense. Ask a Ferrari fan about Gilles Villeneuve (who Enzo Ferrari described as being like a son) or even 'Il Leone' himself, Nigel Mansell.

  • 32 fkn podiums and only one victory , i think he was so close to be the greatest

  • GO Jean GO !!!

  • A wicked driver, unlucky in many ways.

  • I remember the 1996 season where Jean made podium in a lot of races...for me, Alesi and Berger were the best duo of Benetton in all the team history.

Maybe wasn't enough the only victory of Jean in 1995, but he was a great driver!

  • You ruined the video with that sissy music...

  • i could never stand him when he was in ferrari, always thought he was a loser. in hindsight he often had bad luck

  • Comment removed

  • scatman-john scatman

  • Would have been world champion with out such bad luck never mind with some good luck.

  • The best driver without luck. Jean forever, the best!!!!

  • scarce driver....

  • Jean alesi is the greatman;)

  • when they asked ferrari fans who their favorite drivers are, this was the result

    1- gilles villeneuve

    2- jean alesi

    3- michael schumacher

  • That sums it up.

And about iraklilabadze and his comments, he is a loser. Yes, he is. And still is better than some other "winners" like Hill and J.Villeneuve, who completely DISSAPEARED or did close to nothing after winning world championships. But wait, he won 1 race, 1 race more than you iraklilabadze, so he may be a winner and you a LOSER. :)

  • Correct, If I WAS a driver. But I'm an humble italian journalist, and I have to write what I see. Yesterday I beat my sister in a tennis match: did Alesi ever beat my sister in tennis court? No, I guess. I won one particular match more than Jean. So, in that field, I am the winner, and he is the loser.

    Or not?:-P

  • Ok, I'm sorry and I see your point. Fact is: "Alesi is a winner because he won a race". He is statistically a loser because he was never a WC. If you think like this, 29 people who won WC are winners and you are calling everybody else a loser?

I don't think so. On statistics Alesi is not the best, but he certainly wasn't a loser.

  • Everybody knows that Italian journalists are utter retards and quite possibly they are the least informed bunch of people in the world as far as F1 goes. Why don't you guys ever critisize Ferrari as a team? If an engine blows or the car fails in some other way these "journalists" always find some way to blame the drivers but the team is never at fault. You don't care about your drivers at all and don't know the meaning of support.

  • lol anyone who takes seriously to the garbage that the italian or British press drivel out needs their head tested

  • screw you idiot! both were fine drivers stuck in Ferrari when the TEAM sucked the worst, like in 1992-1993

what did Villeneuve and Scheckter achieve with the 1980 Ferrari after they dominated in 1979? Well? So Villeneuve and Scheckter were idiots in 1980 according to your rationale...

  • Really Im disapointed that i cant give you another thumbs down.....

  • what a great contribution to the world an f3000 title but the people cares the f1 not other competitions

  • alesi always said that when he had the choice of going to williams or ferrari, he chose with his heart instead of his head

  • very aggressive driver, my favourite driver of all times. One of my first Grand Prixs was watching him win Montreal.

  • Alesi was one of the best driver in F1 but his biggest mistake was to join Ferrari.

  • imagine him in the 1992 Williams...

  • i dont know why my comments were posted where they are that wasnt what i intended. anyway the latest is a responce to iraklilabadze's post about what schumacher said in 1995. the other is a responce to the miserable idiot who asks:"How can we(Alesi's fans) love him if he wasnt a champ in his entire racing career"

  • alesi is a loser?

he won the f300 championship, he was 4th in 96, and 3rd in 97, he won in f1, he won in dtm,

and recently he just won in the speedcar series(where he leads the championship)

alesi is a winner, some of his cars were losers!

  • and how many times was alesi about to win a race and his car failed him? spa 91,94; monza 94,95,97; monaco 96; belgium 95; japan 95

and not to mention all the points and podiums he could have gotten with better reliablity,

also wasn't alesi racing with senna and prost in 1990 while driving an underpowered tyrell-ford? they were still using manual shifting that year and his team-mate was 2 to 3 seconds per lap slower then him.

  • so it was alesi's fault that some of his cars failed him? and how do you explain that alesi was much faster then herbert when they drove the same car?

the b195 was better then the 412t2 both aerodinamically and reliability wise, plus schumacher was always the number 1 driver and the team worked around him, alesi and berger shared equal status

  • alesi and herbert were at sauber in 98 and alesi was much faster then herbert!

using a mediocre car he finished 3rd in the rain at spa and qualified 2nd in the rain in austria! what did herbert do that year?

and when did alesi have a championship winning car? the 95 ferrari was the only car he drove that with better reliability and slightly better aero would have challenged for the championship

  • schumacher and prost both have more race victories then senna, so are they faster then him?

  • Why in Italy Ferrari fans allways belive that failures are for the drivers...?

  • He was a fantastic driver. Now, drivers like Luca Badoaer, Aguri Suzuki, and Ivan Capelli were bad.

Alesi has 1 win, over 200 starts (that's a milestone, only like six drivers have that,) and an absolute load of points.

BTW, he had more driver points in his total career than Johnny Herbert had in his.

Was he world championship quality? Most definitely. Did he achieve that status? Sadly, no.

But you don't have to be a champion in the points to be a hero to the people.

  • You know who's similar to Alesi in terms of a career (good career, but no championship), either?

A slightly better performing driver than Alesi, named Riccardo Patrese. That guy's not a loser, though he was never world champion (though in 1992 he barely edged out Senna for Runner-Up.)

Patrese was a fun driver to watch. Guy has 256 starts-- a record I don't think will be broken for a very, very long time.

  • I agree with you. Riccardo was a splendid second driver, an honest laborer appreciated and respected. But that is my point: Patrese did his work, without infamy, without laudation. Jean, with his enormous talent, has had a disappointing career.

  • Jean tried his hardest that he could. That Ferrari in the early and mid 1990s was an attrocious car. It had a powerful V12 but the bodywork was terrible. They kept changing designers every year.

Before Alain Prost was fired in 1991, he said the Ferrari's handling was like "an 18 wheeler".

Ferrari in the early 90s was not the team it is today, where the 90s were dominated by Williams and McLaren. In fact, you could probably argue that Alesi and Berger helped cement Schumacher's success there.

  • I'm not sure. The first time Micheal tried the V12 engine and Ferrari at Mugello, after 40 laps, he got out from the car and said: "Is it possible that Ferrari in those years has won just two gp, with such engine?".

  • do you not consider for a second that the comment was made 2 make himself look better,a PR action? all the experts at the time said that having a v12 in 1995's 3.0 engine rules was a disadvantage rather than an advantage because of its greater fuel consumption and lesser driveability. yes it was a joy to hear and maybe a fun to drive but in speed+reliability terms it wasnt an advantage(in fact Ferrari wanted to switch to V10 engine even before or during the season but didnt prepare it in time.

  • Ferrari always made powerful engines. The 1995 engine might have been brilliant but the chassis and reliabilty was shite

  • Well, Alesi, Berger always said, that the chasis was great, but the engine V12 lost that year his advantage of great power against the weight, cause it was restricted to 3.0litre and it was too much kg´s on the car...

  • I could sum it all up for Alesi. He seemed always to be in the wrong team at the wrong time. He had the choice for 1991 to go to Ferrari or Williams, he chose the wrong path. When he came to Benneton in 96, the party was over, and the rest is history. realy a fabulous natural driver, but I think that he lacked the tech development that you need to make a car evolve. But i miss him greatly, realy a lion of a driver.

  • "Guy has 256 starts-- a record I don't think will be broken for a very, very long time."

Or 25th May this year, by Rubens Barrichello.

  • It's Riccardo Patrese that has 256 starts. Alesi is currently 8'th with 201 starts. Berger is 5'th with 210 starts.

  • You can't say it any better than Forza Alesi...a true star and one hell of a driver - his knife-edge stuff is up there with the greats!

  • how can love if he dont won a title in his all racing life?

  • french F3,F3000 doesnt count then? are you able 2 "like" a driver only if he was F1 champ? in other words:are you mad?

  • Great driver and great person !

All Ferrari's fans still love him !

Ferrari should have kept him in 1996, as team mate of Michael !

That would have been a great team, plus they are friends so i think they would have been happy to stay in the same team together, shame.

  • As much as I wanted Alesi 2 stay in Ferrari in 1996 I knew it wasnt possible. They were considered 2 top drivers in the world at the time and Alesi said there's no way for him 2 stay coz Shumacher demanded number 1 status and Ferrari had no choise but to agree. I mean do you imagine Jean as number 2? Everyone including Michael knows that on raw speed Alesi was a match 4 Schum. He's not Brundle or Patrese.

  • Alesi was in his best form from 1989 - 1993. At the start of 1994 he had a very big testing accident and, in my opinion, he was never quite the same driver after that.

He still had some wonderful runs (e.g. Suzuka, 1995) but never really had his old edge after that.

  • Still one of the great names in F1

he was my favorite back in his ferrari-veteran-days #27ruled

    loved his fighting driving style

I always hated it when the ferrari v-12 was blowing up in good positions position(like barca95)

  • Good video, music is just annoying though, Just my opinion, okay!

  • Whats names this music?

  • john scatman-scatman

  • To have an idea how much bad luck he had, just remember how often he could have won at Monza without bad luck: 1994, 1995, 1997.

Very sad that he never was able to sit in a real good car.

  • I found some pretty entertaining crashes in there =D

  • alesi used to overtake more drivers in a single season then some drivers in a whole career.

  • Jean Alesi was my favorite driver in F1 of all time. I just magically became transfixed by his panache and driving style as soon as I saw him race back in 1990 when I was 8.

He was absolutely magical in the rain. I can still remember his run in 1995 in Japan where he was setting fast lap after fast lap, lopping huge chunks off of Schumacher's lead, and then his engine sadly blew.

  • For me Jean is the only driver in the same league as Gilles, its fiiting JA got to be the last driver of #27 and of course to get his win in that car. I'm watching old races in the off-season, starting with Jean's debut in 88 in the Tyrell, he was immediately on the pace. Forza Alesi.

  • f1 feels so empty without jean alesi

  • Jean Alesi - a fighter, an enthusiatic driver, a Ferrari driver, a legend

  • Good video, nice choice in the music ;)

  • All Talent No luck

They don't drive this way anymore.

I liked his opposite lock driving in the wet.

  • He could have gone to Williams for 1991, but chose Ferrari instead - His wins tally could have been a lot different.

  • he went for the legend and the legend ruined his career. he was a great driver (especially in rain). unfortunately his stats don't reflect the true talent that he was..

  • Totally agree!!

  • Maybe, he wonted to show-I am good....look at mansell 92,prost 93 still there are some discussions that they won only thanks to the williams-renault.Maybe he wonted the hard way to show us that he is not like that

  • i always remember his strange way of holding the steering wheel compared to the other drivers....and his dounuts :)

  • Magic..Magic...Jean sei un Cavallo da corsa...Better than Shumacher,Senna,Prost,Piquet,Mansell,Alonso and Hamilton!!!

  • Jean, sempre il numero 1 !!!

  • I always love to watch jean driving. Unforgeteble.

  • jean sempre il più bello sotto il sole o sotto l'ombrello!!!!

  • Not bad, but needed footage of his start at Monza '96...

  • That start was just amazing on that tight chicane from sixt to lead.....amazing

  • they dont do drivers like jean anymore, sad thing. in case of the rain today in M C alesi for shure would be great.

  • another great tribute, keep them coming

  • Just goes to show talent is nothing if you don't have the machinery. Such a shame he left ferrari a year early or joined benneton a year late.

  • I like Alesi.. He was a great pilot in F-1...

  • Cracking video , always liked Jean - such a shame he couldnty make the most of the massive natural talent he clearly had.A driver that always looks fast and on the edge.Great Choice of song too!!!! Be ba ba bada bo :)

  • Alesi, one of the best that didnt succed.. I liked him

  • Great Driver. But the song isnt good.

  • poor guy, he had to face the worst ferrari years.. in 92 it was better to drive a Footwork!...

  • The song does not reflect the video

  • good work but ıcan not control myself kimi ı hate u

    becayse of 2001 japan

  • Kimi had suspension failure

  • excellent tribute

  • Superbes tes tributes!

    Vivement ton prochain clip!
