But however great it was a couple of thousand years ago doesn't change the fact that it's a shithole now. Mate i wouldn't envy you in that soft skin Lanny, it was bad enough with snatch! We lost 3 blokes and they finally banned snatch from Al-Amarah. Only Challenger and Warrior went in.
we had saxon too, 10 tonnes of shrapnel on wheels!!! Apparently saxon in the only brit vehicle not to be RPG'd out there?
We were lucky, we got there at the end of the war when most people were happy to see us. Had a few IEDs / small arms and RPG contacts but nothing like the current level of IEDs and suicide bombers.
@Bally0120 was same in telic 8, they decided saxons were just too shit to do anything apart from attract attention, they got rpg'd to hell and back so they changed only warriors and charlies were sent in....wish they'd thought of it sooner and saved some lives
