I think the director makes it very clear (even clearer than) how the author put it in the book that: if ZZR still loved Wu Ji and hated Zhao Min, she cannot just happily watch them care for each other and say that she'll tell them her one wish at their wedding... also, this was after she already heard from Wu Ji that he only loves Zhao Min. So what can that wish be? Of course for them to live happily ever after! BUT it was still lame that this director made Zhao Min stay as princess..

I didn't like this series very much. Imo Deng Chao was too emotionless as ZWJ, and Liu Jing's face does not fit ZZR at all, it makes her look scary and old. (Gao YuanYuan is my fav ZZR!) On the other hand Ady and Xiaozhao were great. I also liked how this series ending sticks to the book cuz I'm a ZZR fan. =)

@dendu Considering the time difference, Miss Yang couldn't be their daughter. You can look at Zhang San Feng's age to know the time difference of the two stories. It should be roughly 100 years. If she was in blood-relationships with them, she may be their grand-daughter or great-grand-daughter?

@min009 Basically, you can say the ending is not very different from other versions, even more similar to the original book. But the way it was directed, the way the story was wrapped up, especially the very ending situation ruined the whole series. I don't want to give too many spoilers here, but one of the most confusing and disappointing things is Zhao Min never left her position as a Mongolian princess to be with Zhang Wu Zi, but the other way round. Can you imagine it?

Also, was up the fake background especially during Wuji childhood. I like the chemistry with Deng Chad and Ady.. I like how there was not too much kissing scene or physical intimacy. It made the characters innocent. I believe now and day Chinese drama get to caught up with the whole kissing scene, which not needed.

I do not think the main guy Deng Chao is ugly, nor does it matter as long as he can act. I thought the girl who play Zhou Zhiruo really act poorly. I also think the director did poor directing. Zhou Zhiruo was suppose to be innocent. In here she is plainly the villain. I am also annoyed with the lighten in the film. There was time in the film that was too bright it made them look like ghosts.

I thought Deng Chao was great. I love his voice, his gestures and movements. Personally, I wince a bit when couples kiss in wuxia dramas ^^:: The lack of a kissing scene actually made the love between Deng Chao and Ady sweeter.

I also thought the actress who played Zhi Ruo was the one weakness in the main cast. Instead of bitter and ruthless, she was more sulky and bitchy.

Though slightly exaggerated, I also thoroughly enjoyed the fight choreos in this series. It's been awhile since there was more than just posing :) I thought the CG was used tastefully during the martial arts scenes. There was plenty of hand-to-hand combat.

I really want to watch the 1994 it looks good to me. Everyone in their looks like they can act. I'm really disappointed with Chinese drama lately becuz they focus too much on special effect. One good remade I really enjoy was The Legend of the Condor Heroes 2008 about Gou Jing. Really, really good the casting was prefect. I enjoy the bad guy who tries to hit on Huang Rong. He is some what attractive. I was not a fan of Hu Ge but he did a good job in Gou Jing.

It is said that the official DVD (7 disks version) is going to be released today. DVD (9 disks version) to be released on 7 November. So you don't have to wait very long now ^^.

UPDATE: The first two episodes of HS&DS 2009 were broadcast on a local TV in China a few hours ago. It was said that the story went very fast and was quite different from the original book. So, look like we're going to see its DVDs coming out very soon.
