  • He's humble even in real life. <3 Amazing actor.

  • Im ashamed as an Afghan, in how an auther can make money off of hate. The auther of the book is a bigot.

  • lol guys he his parents are Egyptians, therefore he is ethnically an Egyptian,

But immigrated to Europe and got the British nationality

    But he is considered Egyptian,

  • in the end they all come to america and live happily ever after

  • He was born in Scotland, originaly from Egypt. His dad is a doctor in London. He did a very good job.

  • very good looking man, yes indeed!

  • he is egyptian!! that's why he speaks afghany well! and he's not scottish? I swear he's egyptian.

  • @MrLilyaya hes from scotland

  • How was he able to travel safely toward west since the Taliban controls everything outside of the Kabul area.. ?

  • you basatrd Khlidi harami,

you think you made a good movie no...

you mother fucker put an unbalanced movie which you should have showe some respect to hazaras insted of fucking putting a shity biitter story..

khwahari to harami wa mother to harami ra sad bar bigayummm.

  • @PinoThePizzaman77 how????....u mean scottish borned? man he can speak perfect Farsi!!!

  • @PinoThePizzaman77 Go on Scotland!!!!!!!!

  • This is an excellent movie. It enhances the value of the firendship. I wish to have a firend as Hassan. Very touched !

  • it upsets me deeply that so many people blame all of this on just the pashtuns, i mean im a pashtun and i never in my life have had any problems with the other tribes in afghanistan, we are all afghan and thats all that really matters..hopefully inshallah the people of afghanistan will begin to modernize and begin to realize that we're all the same and not just because we're all afghan but because we're all muslim, and thats what brings us together :))

  • didn't know he was british/egyptian...he did an amazing job!

  • Bearly watched this movie, and i recommend it to all. It's a beautiful. touching strory that will bring tears to your eyes. The actors are great, and they leave a great affect in you as you watch the movie. This actor is great, and i have to say: he is my favorite actor. I recommend this movie to all. Shoot, i'm gonna have to buy the book tomorrow.

  • reading all these comments posted here, all i can think is that how i wish people can unite and live together regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or colour. and being a muslim myself, i hate it when we divide ourselves by talking about ethnicity and also when some of us wrongly manipulate god's words to inflict harm on other people. i'm just a teenager and if all of us teenagers can start thinking the same way, maybe we can create a better world in the future.

  • Im so proud of these people who made this film and Im so happy that they show how jerks taliban were.. long life afghanistan.

    im so proud of afghans

  • @AfghnGirl they are actually showing how jerk pashtuns r and this movie has very little to do with taliban but more has things to do with racism in the country

  • ???.. then why do they show the episode when they brought the kid and he had to dance? this has a lot of stories and truth to do with the taliban.

  • @AfghnGirl yes honey, they did show that part but in Afghanistan child rape is very commen between the pashtuns and some parts of persians cities but it is much more common between the pashtuns. even today the commanders in Kandahar have little kids with them which has skined the world. if you read the book you will see that it's more about racism. Taliban were pashtuns that wanted a ONE ethnic Afghanistan right? i am from Afghanistan & i lived in there during the Taliban these things were true

  • yes I know that. the racism between darizabans and pashtons havent changed. they are against each other but many afghans want to get this away. we want to be a united country and united hamwatans.

  • @AfghnGirl oh no it's still very real and very strong!!! the Karzia government allows very few Tajiks/Hazaras/Uzbecks in the government. thats true we the persians want a united afghanistan but it;s not just the pashtuns and the persians, it's the pashtuns and the rest of Afghanistan they still believe that Afghan means pashtun and Afghanistan is just for pashtuns and that we are the migrants into their land while in fact they are the ones who came from israel back in the day,it's just bad

  • u know what? I must say that IM SO ASHAMED of afghans who doesnt know how to respect their own race.. this racism and racism problem is something another country should do to us and NOT OUR OWN AFGHANS! pashtoons are no one to change afghanistan, nor will it change to pashtoonistan.

Afghanistan is the land of every afghans, no matter which tribe. if they dont agree then they can go and foff!!

  • @AfghnGirl oh tell me about it!!! there is a political group called the Afghan Melat, they are like the Nazies of Germany. they believe in one ethnic Afghan land. they hate farsi and never ever speak it. u can go and visit their site, they have VERY little stuff written in farsi but most of it is in Pashtu and English. this "Dari" name they use for farsi, only dates back to Zahir Sha's time before that we the word Dari never ever appeared in any where, they use this to spreat us from our roots

  • @AfghnGirl recently a TV reporter used the word " Danishga" instead of the pashtu word " Pohantoon" the tv reporter was arrested and charged for using a farsi word. listen to the National anthem of Afghanistan, if they say equal rights for all then why isn;t the national anthem not in both farsi and pashtu but it;s only in pashtu. they proved it that Dari is farsi and asked the government to change the name of the language to it's original name but the government decided not to!

  • u know what I call people like these who are acting like that? RETARD! they should grow up.. omg how old are they? dont they have little brain to think that this is just bullshit! if God wants to, he can kill all the pashtoons but he doesnt. who has given the power for the pashtons? pashtons arent God, they are all human just like others and this racism is ''bachagana.'' SERIOUSLY they should grow up. Im SO ASHAMED of afghans like that. if they cant solve it then they can foff. afghans = afghani

  • Very handsome actor.

  • its a great movie you must seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • wow he's hot

  • united 93 terriorst...

  • He did a very convincing job as the lead terrorist.

  • I mean he is the actor in the movie "United 93"

  • the bible is very cruel.

  • they want everyone to do as the koran or bible says but they? are they doing what god said? I might be wrong but raping kids is a sin too.

  • I dont care where is he from. Khalid Abdalla is so cute. I dont know if the book really says the truth or not but I dont respect the taliban all that killing just for allah or god. Does god wants us to kill each other? if he is the one who forgive us or judge us, why are we killing the sinners? they called themselves muslims and the same as cristian they dont follow the religion.

  • I started crying during the part in which he read the letter from Hassan.

  • So did i!

  • me tooooo!!!! this interview makes me want to watch the film again, or more specifically, Khalid in the film!!!! that scene was just beautiful

  • he say i'm british_ egyptian but he speak dari very wel in this movie !!! better than father of amir that is iranian actor .....!!!!

  • the book is soooo good, loved it and the film, but in my opinion the book is so much better.

  • "Amedkan" reality can not be transform ed by the movies, if they make a movie telling us that pashtoons are immigrants from tajikistan and uzbakistan, would you believe that, dummy.

  • where is khalid Abdala from?

was he born in afghanistan or born and grow up outside Afg?

  • he said in the interview that he is British Egyptian...

  • in this video he says that he is British/ egyptian. 5:04min he says this ...watch it.

  • after this movie, i would like to visit afghanistan and see the afghanis for who they really are...

  • I feel the same way. Met one Afghan and noticed strong noble personality, just like in the movie.

However, today's Afghanistan is not the same country and that's what this movie is all about.

  • don't step on a landmine

  • @nunvikingsofthesea good hint...

  • omgi loved the book and the movie. im afghan and i was never even offened i loved it, i want ppl to see this and realize this.

  • this shit is fucking sad!!! i cried with all my friends the whole movie

  • see him on youtube in his first film role in Spooks season 4-hot hot hot!kate

  • i hated that rape scene

  • it barely showed anything. it was worse in the book.

  • after watching this movie...i realized afghanistan is beautiful...all of my classmates are very emotional while watching this movie....we've watched this movie in our school.....

  • see my "vids" online now before youtube takes them off again

    ne1 want 2 chat with me??? 7C

  • wtf is wrong with u?

  • the kite runner is such an emotional book- it's beautiful and brutal- it's epic.

  • agreed

it's one of my favourite books

  • He's British??!?! Cool! Khalid Abdalla is a fanastic actor...to see him go from United 93 to The Kite Runner is AMAZING

  • i read the book & mind you(finished it in 4 days) cause i couldn't put it down. can't wait to watch the movie :)

  • i finished it in one day... and my eyes were all puffy from crying. the best book for me so far.

  • he he, i know its my fav book so far aswell..

  • how about i read for less 24 hours? hehehehe...really, its a very compelling book...too bad i wasn't able the movie yet although there is a side of me that doesn't want to coz it will be toooooo short....

  • WTF kite running is not afghan national sport? huh! it is buzkashi

  • anyways i just wanted to make my point here, I dont argue over the internet its silly.I just hope all muslims(not just afghans and pakis) unite and inshallah that day will come because only then we will be at peace. and btw im not a punjabi so think before you speak.

  • wow, beautiful words walla. people like FascistPashtun is why muslims wont rest. they create hate and Fitna between muslims. Hate is a disease PEOPLE.

  • yes thank you for thinking like that.....muslims need to make a change themselves by uniting not letting US or other break us apart..

  • and btw because of stupid islamic extremists like the Taliban who came from ur country "Afghanistan" all muslims around the world are disgraced and misunderstood. so we have the right to ask such questions to ur country as well! why they have put millions of muslims in such conditions....yes i do admit Pakistan's gov't is a bit corrupt but afghans gov't is not any much better

I feel sad for ignorant ppl like you who wish to kill innocent citizens, even if it's the government's fault.

  • @FascistPashtun

First of all, before we are pakis and afghans, we are muslims, and it is not taught in islam to kill one another or take revenge. People who think like you is why muslims are divided into parts and we let US and others to do watever they want to us. Oh and why dont you state some facts instead of a bunch of bullcrap. so it wasnt the soveits or the taliban who killled ur people and ruined ur country? it was Pakistan? the country who accepted millions of afghan refugees

  • I dislike afghans and pakis who hate eachother and talk a bunch of bullshit...instead of wasting all ur time and energy on such hatred i believe muslims all around the world should unite and help eachother so we are capable to stand up to US who are the ones to blame...I hope everyone realizes wats goin on and plans to help the women and children in afghanistan by donating or adopting or anything possible, focus on wats important instead of finding some1 to fight against

  • what the fuck are you talking about? we will never unite with pakis who have killed more 5 million Afghans and now it's our turn and once it's finished and we have killed 5 million of theres, then we will talk about unity. u are a fascist panjabi otherwise u would never ever say such an offensive word against Afghans. uniting with paki panjabis is an offencive word to us Afghans

  • mehkhn"You dislike Afghans?

    What They DID TO YOU?

if you consider yourself as a real MUSLIM,Then do not say shit that YOU DO NOT LIKE Afghans.

btw admit that you are paki!!!

  • your just as bad as mehkhn, theres nothing wrong with bieng from pakistani origins, and mehkhn ; you really need a life! get a hobby instead of hating a race, and i say this to everyone, wheather were afgan paki jew or english, first were all people and therefore the same!

  • @awesta1990 yes we are all people HOWEVER NIGGERS are the worst, and BROWN PEOPLE are second they are considered inferior to white people and many people hate these pigs they are fucking bad for the enviorment and the world be a better place without em

  • afghans who think pakistan has destroyed their country clearly do not know what they are saying. Instead of putting the blame on extremists like the soveit union or Taliban you'd rather just talk shit of pakistanis cuz its so much easier rite? really hasnt this movie taught you ppl anything at all? its says it clear and simple wat happened to the afghan community and gov't. yet stillpakis are the ones to blame when it was pakistan and iran that helped the ones in need at the time of war.

  • i´m crazy about this movie. My boyfriend is from Afghanistan, so it´s nice to where he´s coming from. And he told me about the kite´s even before this movie came out. But the world should´nt forget the Talebans and what they did to the people. My boyfriend still have the scars.. Mentally and on he´s body.

Love he movie, and i´m nuts about Hassan, my little hazara

  • well taliban have no problem with hazara, tajik or uzbek immigrant, but the thing is these people are immigrants in afghanistan and do not want to get along with those people, that's how killing started in afghanista.

  • I think you should see the movie.

  • How the fuck could you use the word immigrant for hazaras, tajik or uzbek, every single ethnic in Afghansitan are fucking immigrant from different countries, specially pashtuns, thats quiet obvious that came from india, recent pakistan, still 28 million of pashtuns live in Pakistan, and the 2nd thing you cant just blame them for not getting along with taliban, coz talibans are terrorist, no one would get along with them except pashtuns.

  • 17,345 i love this movie

  • lol r u saying afghans are indians...lol..if afghans were indians den why wud der even be a country afghanistan..it wud just be india..for ur info..kite running is sumthing dat all afghans do in afghanistan..not just india knows wat kite running is..im sorry to say but i think ur trying to prove the fact that kite running is an indian think which is not true..and da fact that u said afghans are hindues does not make sense at all..hindus r hindus and afghans are afghans..very different

  • well this is rediculous to say that afghans were forcfully coverted to islam..islam was embarrassed by afghans as the unique true idealogy and amoungs afghans created true islamic pholosper...u r comaparing hindus with afhans, u have to get right knowledg rather then beating about the bushes...

  • @barrechi

Afghans embraced Islam? Get the fuck out of here!

Let me ask you something: what is the penalty for apostasy in Islam?

  • esotricdesi-------u r fucking crazy how dare u combong us with indians dirty asshole.

  • The Hindu statues were those of a mere dynasty of kings called the Shahis. All the Hindu artifacts from Afghanistan are from that dynasty's era, not from any other time, which shows how more the exception it was rather than the rule. The Hindu scriptures themselves describe Gandhara or Afghanistan as being mostly peopled with foreigners or "Mlecchas", some of which have been accepted into the fold of Dharma.

  • Gandhara was in taxila,Pakistan not afghanistan

  • Actually Gandhara overlaps western Pakistan and eastern Afghanistan.

Bamiyan art is itself described as part of the Gandharan school of art" which is spread across Afghanistan and western Pakistan.

  • A+ for this great film... hypocrites in Islamist nations are exposed very well in this film... But, one must read Afghanistan's recent history (Past 50-100 years) and then watch the film... Ending was sad, how a new generation of children forgot even to play under Islamist rule... The children even forgot in a matter of generation to smile, be happy, even forgot to fly the kites.

  • Nice movie

  • Great film... Truth revealing.

  • If anything, Afghanistan is a bordering non-Indic land strongly influenced by aspects of South Asian civilization, but ultimately distinct from it.

  • You can be critical of religion and its dogma, I am too. I loathe religion period.

But don't pretend that you can advocate a faith more superior than that.

Hinduism, for all its positives, is also heavily flawed in many ways described by recent South Asian anthropologists.

Not looking to insult you. Just to give you an alternate view.

  • looking*

  • I love english accents on brown people.

Now im not sure if that would be the correct way to refer to afghanistan people or pakistan but those people im refering to.

So i apologize if im wrong to refer to them as brown.

  • For the fair hearted people let it be known that the rape scene

was merely suggested and that nothing really graphic is portrayed in the movie. I am amased how critics of that scene refuse to be presented with a reality that can happen as much as in America, Afganistan or any country in the world. Our refusal to look at realities is the downfall of mankind.

  • Khaled Abdalla speaks really well and articulates himself well. He studied English at Cambridge so he's obviously very clever

  • do u know when ever I hear people like u talkin such bullshit like u do I'd like to kick their ass. do u know how many people think the same thing about u Pakis like u do of them?? have u ever heard of nathan the wise?? i guess u did'nt.

  • um you say who wants to come to pakistan, thats why eastern pakistan is flooded with afghanis.

  • An awesome and subject oriented novel as well as the movie.

  • Khalid Abdalla is awesome. He did an awesome job playing old Amir. Well done, Khalid!

  • that scene was at the core of the novel/movie your moron

  • Some people just dont get it.. Clearly!

  • he is so hot

  • Aww didnt kno he had an english accent... HOW CUTE!!! i luv the book and the movie!

  • Great movie and great actors! -especially hassan and amir :)- I agree with you khaled this is the first movie that shows us a story that took a place in the middle-east and didn't dislpaly the region as just a whole war zone. people there need to be more personalized and characterized as like any other humans.

  • you want to learn about real Afghan (Pathan) culture you need to watch Khuda Gawah not Kite Runner. It's heavily slanted towards the Persian view and Persians are not Afghans they closer ties to Iran than Afghanistan, real Afghans are Pathan always have been always will be. Our culture, language, attitudes, and people are not the same as Persians and this movie and book gives Pathans a bad image because the writer is ignorant of our culture.

  • well, what should I argue with you when you accept the racism,I even did devide pashtoons from tajiks and yet you guys are trying to do that, those paki people who destroyed our country,of course it is wrong that if people will think that all afghans are gay but yes taliban are pashtoon and they are gay,it is fact but no one did critisized afghans and I don't see the differences between pashtoons or tajiks and if you think you are well educated then argue over something that worth of conversation

  • Great movie!

  • i think this film might bring more hatrate among pushtoons and hazara's. It shows alot of nigative points of views about pushtoons and hazara people. film like this might increase tension between hazara's and pushtoons which they had lots of war in the past.

  • i just saw this movie and i just loved it and i think abdullah did a great job with his Dari he spoke it almost without an accent cuz im afghani and at first i thought so was he. you couldnt tell if you know he's not an afghani but anyway great jobbb khalid jan

  • i watched this movie in Liverpool, and it was a very touching, and emotional movie.. umm i wud reccomend this movie but close ur eyes , cuz u do not want to c the ehem r... scene.lol

but any way still a great movie

  • Verii Sadd Movie But One Of the Best!

  • he's smokin!

  • the leading actor is egyption...but he lived in london his whole life :)

  • it was very good film

  • man raping another man is a common way of revench in the middle eastern culture like Afghanistan as well as Iran, and I have seen it myself but I didn´t understand it, I am happy that this movie bring up these sort of behavior and thinking

  • much of the scene was taken in my hometown tashkurghan and a lot of tashkurghan people were in the film

  • Khaled Hussein put rape 'cause it's like the most shamefull and worst thing you can do to someone. Also, Amir was such a coward. If I was him, I would've like gotten a bat or something.

  • ur right, he gived a really bad image to hazaras.. but u forgot that he didn't really showed a good image about pashtoons and tajiks. what i think about this movie is that he tried to show the really image of afghanistan.. every one is fight against each other.. its really stupid coz thats why our beautiful place never ever had peace.

  • i cnt beleive hes not afghaan!!! lo0l...he still is a gr8 actor!!

  • The film actually potrayed pre-taliban Afghanistan as being a much more modern and beautiful country then I ever thought. Great film!

  • well I am not really agree with the rape scenes because it emphacized the pashtoon nation...but as it is every nation have nice and bad people among them so people can't really generize others....this might happened but not the young child....well I think it really related to the movie and it is best explained so it doesn't really matter,,,,because there was amir as well whose family were pashtoon but nice people so it kind of give a good view about everything in AFG

  • I am really proud being afghan and I am extremely proud and appreciated from the Khaledjan hussein from the book that he wrote

he is the best writer among all the authors so far I have read,,,,the Kite runner and thousand splendid sun is the best books which had a good view about afg I haven't been in afg but this movie and books gives to people a good visual views how afg was....I love the movie OMG i couldn't stop to crying from the beginning until end thanks to all actors they all were great

  • I as Someone from afghanistan agree 100% with the history and the film there is nothing to be ashamed of i am proud of everyone in the film very honest.and about the rape scene i guess the whole history of the film related to that scene.i dont want it to make political isue.

  • agree 100%

  • omggg...hes got a british accent...swear down in the movie he speaks wiv d american accent! lo0l

  • he was meant to speak in an american accent, But as a matter of fact he has a Posh british accent.

  • The movie was simply brilliant. And this dude is very sexy.

  • great movie and hot actor!

  • Haha. sorry. this comment wasn't supposed to be planted here.

  • You're right do :P

  • if the comment does belong to here don't post it

  • Pakistan is dangerous for the rest of the world! There are so many ekstremists in Pakistan-We hear about it all the time! But if we talk about Iran, it's the regime and not people who want the islamic living-That's the difference!

  • I am not agree,if the people don't wanted then they wouldn't accept it why do u bring the religion issues in here, second of all just keep your ass out of the religion and do your business, you hear many things but u don't see the truth, hearing is different from seeing the true, and u just can talk bull of shite over here,I can say that the real terrorism is the westerns who make people in touble and then take off their tail out of the trouble then call other poeple terrirism shut your asshole down

  • USA is by far the biggest danger to humanity not humble countries like Pakistan or Iran!

  • Hillarias,

Iran and Pakistan a humble country

I don't think so a country can be personified

apparently iran and pakistan is humble country when they try to threated to other countries in spit of that they are nothing just bull of shit and they don't even have anything

please if you talking about something then determined what the fuck you will say

yes you are right USA is inhumanity country where they are trying to help people

    what a genious paki have

    wow

  • i love the book/movie so much

  • A correction: Kite Flying is not the national sport of Afghanistan. Buzkashi is.

  • Best artist ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • this is the best movie/book i ever see

    just love it

  • BEST BOOK EVER!!!!

  • The best film ever!!

  • anyone havent seen afghani 300 watch that you can just simply type afghani 300 you can see the video than you can how pashtuns are

  • every nation have nice and bad people among them

no one is generilizing one nation

I had see this movie and nothing is bad about it,,,,they compare two pashtoon family as well hazara

but our people just think in bad positions

they don't get the point of the movie

if u pay attention u would get it simply

  • I have seen the film, here in Denmark. The film is very populare here everyone have seen it. The film had a good story, but there was some few things that wasn't correct, and everyone was upset about it, it's the chapter when a pashton guy rapes the hazara boy, Hassan.

And i am glad that they havn't let the movie been seen in Afghanistan.

  • Can I ask why you think it's a good thing it has not been screened in Afghanistan? Thanks.

  • i loved that movie!

it was really heartbraking. but the book was better, though. or lets say different ;)

im half turkish and i recognised so many words as well :)

  • well the root of the root of many languages is sumerian so that is might your language is similar to dari

  • wrong, root of all Indo-European language is Sanskrit, not Sumerian

  • you didn't get the movie at all,it doesn't give to pashtoons a bad name, read and see the movie then you will know, because they give a good view about nice and bad people, where those gay pashtoon gay are and there is descent guy(dad of amir) so you have to get the meaning and Khalid is good author, you need have respect for other people and stop this all bull shit with your fandamental and racism ideas

we don't care whatever you will say because you are freaking paki and we are all united afghan

  • shaftaloo, afghans and iranis have better food, language, music, and clothes. u noe it and so does everyonne else. Islam and the persian empire Khorason are to good for you.

  • I agree with the afg food bit-- but seriously..iranian food would be nice if it wasn't so bland!

BUT remember- afghans are not like you iranians- diff culture, code of honour, faith etc (you and shaftalooo3 need to understand that aswell-instead of attacking pakistan)

  • I am not attacking anyone sophiasue,

Pakistan is Pakistan and I CANNOT do anything to change that, but every country has their own limits and I think Pakistan is moving out of it's boundaries, I am NOT criticizing the people because I don't know every single person who is of Paki origin,

  • I just think their government needs some REAL help in running the country properly and not trying to meddle into other countries affairs unless they are ASKED to help n' den try 2 be lke sum sorta hero (a.k.a USA)

  • Politically pak has always needed afg to have a stable gov. Thts y whn the taliban came to power they provided stability(not saying they were good)True pak should not meddle BUT take a look at the world. Even Iran is guilty of tht! (todays afgs gov and iran r abit too close-no?)

Remember there are more pashtuns in pak and they have more rights! would shia iran really help the sunni pashtuns? ans:NO!

  • there isn't the issue about the government or the nation, because of the dedicates war in afg, people started to exile to pakistan and most of their population is afg people,I know like 16 family who are from pakistan but they are afghan originaly u can't blame on people but no one's government is better even USA,Taliban are the stupid people who don't get anything about the world, can u image if someone don't have education how come they can get something which they don't know

  • Wow!

you didn't even attempt to UNDERSTAND what I wrote did you? you just saw the word 'taliban' and -ve repped me. If you are going to argue with me then please read the whole conversation.

Even my family originates from Afg so whats your point?!!

    <
