The guy was an excellent 3 point pure shooter. He wasn't great at creating a shot and his inside game was average. Despite his excellent 3 point accuracy the rest of his offensive game was okay but not NBA level. He didn't dominant in the lane and his dunks were on breakaways not the power dunk over a defender. The main reason he did not get more playing time when he was at Maryland is that he did not play consistent good defense. Thus not drafted to play in NBA. He was a good player.

Jones never developed his overall game He was a Mcdonalds All-American based on athletic ability vs scrubs in high school. But he had to learn too much to catch up to his peers. Btw I didnt know the ACC is seen that way by others but you really shouldnt use the Big Ten as a reference point for basketball any time soon

you can't blame gary for Mike's career troubles. He didn't play enough defense for Gary to start him. if you wanna succeed in the ACC or the NBA, you gotta play D. He got lost too much. Great shooter, amazing athlete. He should be in the NBA. He should be getting properly coached, training more, but for whatever reason NBA teams don't want him. It's a shame, but you can't blame gary for it. He knows exactly what he's doing.

Yeah Gary screwed over his career. He's my favorite Terp of all time. If Gary was a good coach, he would have played him earlier in his career like how he's pushing Hayes and Vasquez now.
