@leafboy412 You can connect any number of drives, up to 8 directly, or 32 using SAS exapanders (or if you are a moron, you can flash HBA firmware to use it as a non-RAID controller and connect up to 256 drives - if you use software RAID).

For my PC which I use primarily for gaming, I have one 500GB hard drive.

If I buy another 500GB drive setting up RAID 0 would have the same probability of losing all my data as I do now, right?

And being as its mainly used for gaming, losing that data wouldnt be so bad as all the games can be re-installed.

The 32 drives bit you mentioned is a limit for a single Array (assuming it's the same as the 9690SA series)

@MARIONDA13 yes but you better have a high powerd comput minimum requirements for that many drives in raid 1,0,6 would be windows 7, 2gb ram at lease a 750w power supply and a core 2 duo or higher

@jon204 No you don't. I've been running 24 drives on an Athlon 3000+ single core with 512MB RAM and Debian. Granted, they're not SSDs, but running 32 SSDs is a waste since the controller will cap out in terms of speed at around 8 drives.

@uut0 Actually, the RAID used 26 SSDs in RAID 00 (No, that is not a typo.) If you read the images flashed at you, you can see that they used 26 SSDs in actuality, but their peak performance (>2GB/s access time) was with 24 SSDs in RAID 00. Thus, they said 24 instead of 26.

@TheAmefist ya well best to be optimistic, hardware is surprisingly versatile nowadays beign able to basically be rubbed on carpeting and run fine. i think you'll be ok but you'll prolly want to google it and find an answer in the middle. if nothing is bent or broken and it wasnt plugged into electricity hope is a~ok, and i cant afford to mung up my hardware either i just used it as an example of what you may be able to get away with, good luck tho
