@only900more2go Make sure you're using a transparent layer. When saving, use .PNG or if you want to open the file again with all the layers seperate, save as .XCF (this is like a .psd file but for GIMP)
@Epsio0 i dont understand what you are saying but i solved the problem. i figured out that it was set on greyscale and not color and was easily able to switch it back. thx though! :) and btw, arent you supposed to save it as jpg to preserve the transparent layer?
@only900more2go .PNG works just as well, as it doesn't lose quality of the image; as far as I understand, Jpeg loses image quality through compression, merging similar colour into one
@Epsio0 i listened to you and it didn't work out, i had to figure out how to make the transparent layer myself. the alpha channel is lost once you save it, when you open it back up you have to create it again, select reqion by similar color, delete the white, and then work on it. im sorry to say, but this video only added more confusion. @.@
@only900more2go I do apologise if I confused you. Bear in mind, that I now use Photoshop so I may forget a few things about GIMP. As for the transparency issue, saving the work as a .png format usually saves the tranparency. I don't know why your one is messing up, sorry :(
Soz for the late reply, and thanks (even though it wasn't anything o.O) I was using a mouse in this video... Not really much, i usually draw with pencil and paper. I scan the picture and trace the same picture onto computer; get a line drawing =P
Been trying to figure out how to do this for SOOO LONNNG. Great post. :D

You could have made this shorter since it is so simple. You wasted 4 minutes and 35 seconds of my life e.e

ok thank you, I've been trying to make line art of my scanned drawings but they are not so good because I'm not used to tracing with a mouse.
