  • 2:19 Katsumoto is tripping out

  • i thought it said frog

  • The only film where Billy connolly gets stabbed by a samurai warrior

  • The greatest phrase in the movie 2:44

  • This is what usually happens when newly-recruited matchlock ashigaru VS high-ranked samurai.....................in the game :D

  • I'm scared of horses. Now i'm really fucked if there are samurais on horses.

  • very nice details ,excellent

  • whats the clan of katsumoto ?

  • Algren: Sergeant Gant, report to the rear and see to the disposition of the supply trains.

Algren: Sergeant Gant, did you hear my order?

    Zeb: I did indeed, sir.

Algren: Good, then you will obey it. Now!

Zeb: No disrespect intended, sir, but shove it up your ass.

  • sweet armour

  • I think, in real battle Tom's first met samurai would have been his last one)))

  • OWER MEN ARE RUNNING FROM THE BATTLEFIELD, SHAMEFUL DISPRAY!!!!

  • They should have waited two more turns until the fog went down.

  • Yumi bow > Muskets

  • this that mean tom cruise represented takeda kai using the tiger flag?

  • SHAMEFUR DRISPRAY!

  • I would like share this video in my facebook page. Could you release it for me?

    Thank you!

  • This is why the Shimazu developed Heavy Gunners :D

  • The samurai were too exaggerated. Overestimated in Western samurai: the sword well, but, in the West geomsulin paensingboda weak. Western more great articles. Wonre Japan was a vassal state of China. Japan is a tributary of China since ancient times. Paensing>>> gumdo

  • @dltk56 lol ur so wrong u total idiot. what the hell do you think ur saying...

  • @dltk56 Kicked your chinese ass in 1930s

  • This fight must have been very hard since reasearcher have found out that samurais were some of the most dangerous persons you ever could meet in a fight

  • Tom Cruise can 1 v 10 = OP.

  • Wow, even before he was trained, Algren is still a decent swordsman.

  • The one movie tom crusie didn't fuck up.

  • @TheFreelancer117 tom cruise is great you bitch

  • @TheFreelancer117 Minority Report, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, A Few Good Men, Interview with the Vampire, Collateral. That is probably not all.

  • @TheFreelancer117 Mission impossible 1, 2, 3 , 4.

    Risky Buisness

and he actually made Tropic Thunder better.

  • @MegaMovieMind MI2 wasn't very good, but it was bad because of John Woo's direction.

  • @MegaMovieMind, Actually the problem was MI2 is a product of it's time that didn't hold up well, it was considered better than the first when it came out. Yet after slow mo, duel guns, sunglasses and INSANLY unrealistic action scenes became played out (thanks Matrix) it seems corny now.

  • @TheDalinkwent MI2 doesn't have to do with Toms acting ability. Every movie he has been in that is considered bad is not because of him. He is great actor. Make a good action scene with Tom Cruise in it, and he will make that action scene better because he is good with stunt work. He is great in Risky Buisness. He isn't a Jimmy Stewart by any means, but he can act more than most action stars. Channing Tattium - SHIT, The Rock - BAD, Sylvester Stallon- DECENT, Tom Cruise- GOOD.

  • @MegaMovieMind, I'm actually a very big fan of Tom Cruise and I think all of the hate he gets is childish and a little tired, it was 6 years ago people need to move on. While I like MI2 personally, I can see why people may not like it now, it's a bit corny but it's a great action movie that features insane stunts performed by Cruise himself. While Tatum is shit, Rock isn't bad and has improved over the years, Stallone is quite impressive when given something to work with.

  • 3:15 thats what you call fucking discipline

  • It takes more than weapons to win a battle..

  • OWR MEN ARE RUNNING FROM THE BATTLEFIELD! SHAMEFUR DISPRAY!

  • @viperhead121

Aww fuck, you beat me to it. :(

  • that guy looks back at tom cruise being a badass at 0:53

  • I don't get how the Tom Cruise character could so easily defeat and hold at bay so many samurais who spent a lifetime training for battle and all that.

  • @psychgoth It's possible with a spear but not if you're surrounded like this guy. But they weren't really bearing down on him too much.

  • @psychgoth he was a soldier, too; he was trained and, most importantly, a was a war veteran. of course, realistically one of the samurais could have step in front and kill him. he can't keep up with all of them, not because they are samurais, but because they have the numbers playing on their favour, obviously the training helps, also. but you have to keep in mind this is movie.

  • Wa?? Them cav didn't even get a nerf fighting in the forest! Katana cav r way overpowered in my books.....

  • Wa?? Them cav didn't even get a nerf fighting in the forest! Katana cav r way overpowered in my books.....

  • Shouldn't Algren be wearing a cuirass since he is a cavalryman and all. And I like the fact that he was able to fight the samurai equally with a sabre on horseback. Shows that the movie isn't all gaga Katana worship.

  • tom cruise is such a horrible actor i can only describe it as pathetic he overacts so much and butchers so many lines

  • 1:24 What the hell??

I'm gonna ram my horse into yours?

  • very nice movie

  • tom cruise kicks jap ass...just like john bastilone but 75 years earlier

  • SHAMEFUR DISPRAY!!

  • 240p :(

  • billy connelly one of my lot from 4 para lol. hard elite army soldier and funny as fuk - talented actor too ;o)

  • i liked that red samurai.

  • @gary209able correction they got wiped out by katana calvary AND katana smaurai

  • Is this taking place during the Meiji revolution or during the Meiji period?

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 in the Meji Revolution

  • @gueroinlove Yeah, I thought it was the Meiji period because it looked like they were hunting the remnants of the samurai, I guess I have to see the movie again since I haven't seen it in like 6 years.

  • @XxXLordPeinXxX666 This is the Meiji Period where Japan began to adapt from Western countries. It was the samurais from Satsuma and Choshu overthrew the Tokugawa Shogunate and established the Meiji Government. The irony is that many of those samurais that rebeled against the Meiji Government were responsible in creating it. Samurais had lost their unique status and were forbidden by law to carry swords in public. Many of the commanders sent to deal with rebel samurais were samurai themselves.

  • Why do people only comment on something if they see it in a fucking video game?

  • This is rather disgraceful. Samurai warriors armed with a katanas beaten by an American armed with only a flag. XD

  • Haha, judging from his utter indifference at the death of his brother-in-law, one may infer that Katsumoto didn't really care for him all that much.

  • Comment removed

  • I love how everybody refers to STW2 XD

  • @Jaycerdan hahha its the reason i looked this video

  • @Roxas2D It is not safer by any means. As warfare has advanced considerable less casualties are produced from conflicts. Battles with melee weapons were by far the deadliest and most brutal.

I also don't contend that it makes you a real man anymore than modern warfare. I'm sure holding your shit in check why you get bombarded by mortars and suicide bombers is no easy feat.

  • @uberhaxor... You ever hear that term don't bring a knife to a gunfight? Yeaaaah sorry to break it to you but guns - swords lol

  • And in the end, the white man dominates the world in this modern age. Love it.

  • @TekBubs the strongest rule kid.

  • @bantermelon And we are the strongest.

  • @TekBubs shut up...this is not the sense of this movie....you fucker!

  • @TekBubs the white can be killed like any one else right? a samurai vs a white dude (you). you lose but that does not mean the white race loose

  • @TekBubs This comment is pure ignorance, the Japanese were never under white rule. They westernized as they wanted to increase trade and enjoy western luxuries but they were not under political control by whites. Remember WWII? When they, a considerably smaller force, fought us Americans fiercely in one of the bloodiest theatres of war. We had to nuke two of their cities just so they would stop.

Besides a black man is president of the US, I guess white's dont rule everything....

  • @BlueAvenue22 And you call me ignorant. Theres reasons why they gave us such a fight in WWII, look it up. You say the states has a black president? Orly? Last I checked he was half and half, I can easily just say hes white. You're the ignorant one, and you're retarded. Thank you.

  • you can have your old fashion disfunctional rifles. you'll never beat the samurai a warrior who lives and breathes combat

  • @uberhaxor69 That's not true, this movie is a metaphor of what happened to japan of the course of a couple hundred years. The samurai could not survive westernization.

  • @BlueAvenue22 of course not the machine gun and cannons but if you miss one shot with those rifles your mince meat. at that time if they had repeater rifles that would of been a major advantage

  • oni mASK! make samurai have an really really bad ass look

  • 1:20: Naginata samurai has a bonus vs cavalry :)

  • although i'm not too particularly fond of samurai, i do admit, i respect their really cool looking armor, i love the horns and high crest

  • 1 second he is telling everyone to hold ground, 1 second later he tells everyone to run away

  • Hahahahaha! YES ..... when your pistol is empty - throw it away!!!! Why reload or keep it for the next battle????

  • You cut out the very beginning before the charge, which was my most favorite scene in the whole movie.

  • SHOGUN TOTAL WAR!

  • @TTLM77

That game takes place before the events of this film.

  • The character of Cpt. Nathan Aldgrin is also loosely based on a real historic figure...... I believe.

  • @StonewallJackson26 what do you mean you 'believe'.... you obviously wikipedia'ed the movie -_-

  • @brytonlaw I don't need to wikipedia the Satsuma Rebellion, to know it happened. -_-

  • @StonewallJackson26 Then how the FUCK did you know about the Satsuma Rebellion?

Was it taught at school? (NO, cause no school syllabus contains this topic)

Did you learn about it from television? (NO, there are no documentaries about the rebellion on TV)

So how the fuck did you heard about the Satsuma rebellion? You watched 'The Last Samurai', got aroused, typed it up on wikipedia to read the plot (even though you have already seen the movie)

  • @brytonlaw Why the fuck do you care? Is the better question. I don't need to validate myself to you. I have much interest in Japanese history and culture. And I find it interesting to study how the industrial revolution in the late 1800's effected different countries.

  • @StonewallJackson26 Study with wikipedia? (Btw, this is a as a matter of fact statement)

  • @brytonlaw I studied the top of your mom's head last night, while she was giving me a mouth hug.

  • @StonewallJackson26 Ignore him man, he's a troll, it doesent matter if you know about the Satsuna Rebellion, Although that is pretty cool still.

  • @brytonlaw do u know something about the Satsuma rebellion??? if u dont, then just shut the fuck up, who cares if he doesnt know the rebellion was about.... let him just talk about it.. and who cares about wikipedia.... i bet u search up wikipedia all the time as well... everyone does.. if u say u dont, then bullshit. im half japanese and half korean, and my japanese heritage came from a old samurai family ever since the 1600s so sdfu and stop talking as if u think everything in japanese culture

  • @PokiPokimon as if u think u know everything in japanese culture and history*

  • @PokiPokimon Before I even address your argument. I did NO so such thing of "talking as if u think everything in japanese culture" (PokiPokimon 4 hours ago). And i NEVER questioned whether he knows about the Satsuma rebellion or not.

  • @brytonlaw o ok, my bad, ur arguement with StonewallJackson sounds like as if ur talking about u know it

  • @brytonlaw I shall list the rest of your logical fallacies in your argument; "weasel words" and "argument from authority". Just because your ancestry dates back approximately SIX generations back to the satsuma rebellion error..... doesn't mean you have a vivid and detailed knowledge of the rebellion. Who's the troll now wbtrex08?

  • @brytonlaw Actually my world history class covered it when I was in 10th grade, so some schools clearly cover it. And when I become a history teacher I will make sure to cover it as well.

  • This movie does not portray Samurai as what they orginally were: Bodyguards for the daimyos and shoguns of medieval japan. This movie portrays them as a rebel army

:( Still a great movie though!!!

  • @CKabayan Have you never heard of the Satsuma Rebellion of 1877? Where Saigo Takamori launched a revolt against the Meiji government. This film is loosely based on that event.

  • @StonewallJackson26 *Sniff* I smell a wikipedia

  • hidden units my lord, treacherously meant to ambush us!

  • Those ashigaru units are RUNNING EN-MASSE!

    SHAMEFERUUU DISPRAYY

  • looks like my matchlock ashigaru were wiped out by katana cavalry.

  • @gary209able you forgot to bring your yari ashigaru

  • @keiweak i did. didnt i? hahaha

  • @gary209able + Yari Cav and some Bow Cav.

  • @gary209able combined with yari cavalry

  • @gary209able SHAMEFUR DISPRAY

  • @gary209able God dammit, I'll never be able to watch this movie again thanks to you and FresBakedVids2

  • i think they're more like yari cav :)

  • just goes to show you that fear and the element of surprise can beat even a modern army.

  • That nigga was like fuck gettin' killed.

  • A wounded tiger still stays a tiger!

  • even though he was gonna die...he still killed that guy laying down!

  • @kaptinfancy DID HE?!

  • in this scene i actually feel bad for the conscripts. and if you ever study PROPER japanese history, you'd feel sorry for them too. the shogunate was pretty much filled with dickheads

  • I think Sam wouldent have died if he just stuck to Shit Kicking.

  • i always feel sorry for the horses in cavalry scenes

  • @Herbstgespenst

Well, it's a good thing our wars don't consist of cavalry anymore. Otherwise there would be a lot more dead horses, lol.

  • @Herbstgespenst me two <;L

  • thank god no gay music

  • i could re create this in shogun 2 :)

  • I feel like a bit of a douche for bringing this up in the comments, seeing as this is a great movie...but if anyone has played, or simply seen the intro for Shogun 2, does the armour on the samurai in red not look exactly like Hirotaro's from this movie?

  • the Japanese hate billy connolly

    this clip is documented proof.

  • @conradmilligan true dat

  • Nobutada was my favorite character in this movie. And I absolutely LOVE his armor. Anyone else notice that his armor was like goldish and showed like no part of him? That's what you get for being the son of the Samurai Lord. lol.

  • What a HEART!

  • That has got to be my favourite bit in the entire film! I love metaphors!

  • Niemcy chuje! Great video! Totally awesome!

  • I'm glad there's a movie the portrays japans bloody conversion from ancient samurai to modern modern guns. Also those samurai would've been destroyed if those gunmen could fire in volleys on command

  • was this shot on a calculator lol???

  • Sad that Hirotaro had to die he whould probably be awsome further in the movie!

  • The samurais kicked ass in this fight!

  • he should die if he's not Tom Cruise

  • holy fuck that samurai got destroyed

  • this battle was lost to the samurais.....in the real life of couse

  • Why didn't they fight in the fog in the last battle..?

  • @Omegace because sometimes fog would take days or even months to appear even next to an ocean. and when the enemy marches you MUST react or they may burn down your villages or take cities and hurt your economy in the long term.

  • @xXBerethorXx ... Errmm I was speaking rhetorically, anyway, atleast they could have fought the army in the forest with or without the fog and they could of skirmished the units without losing many casualties. And the Samurais don't have an economy as such, they live off the land which also means they can settle anywhere. Guerilla warfare is almost unstoppable.

  • @Omegace rhetorical lol my bad xP

is guerilla warfare is near unbeatable, do you beat it by burning down forests then? 2 lazy to look up modern strategies lol

  • @xXBerethorXx No problem :). Burning down the forests is one way to do it (The Americans tried this during Vietnam) but I think leaving them alone would have been a better strategy :P Since in Russia there are still tribes and villages without any technology living like the Samurai do

  • @Omegace they did something worse in wietnam, they used agent orange which now shows it's true face as a mutagen.

but it wouldn't, shouldn't work. you saw th trees here. bamboo. burn it down this year there is even more next year. bamboo grows too damn fast.

and Japan is big enough. main problem here is the fact it is mountain area, as it is said, winter is coming, in winter no one can get inside or out of this valley. have a look at Afghanistan , warfare for how long? 20 years?

  • @lucasrenitif

20 years ? More like 40, since the Soviets came in in 1979.

  • @Briselance whoah, see,..-just my point !

40years with what? they have no air force, no tanks, no navy and yet, they fight .

  • @lucasrenitif

Yeah, I saw your point, don't worry about that.

I know they got no air force, just a few barely-operational tanks, no navy, and all.

But this is not a conventional war, it is a guerilla warfare, where the main factor is the fighter AND the political propaganda eventually supporting him.

  • @Briselance yep. well, as i said , different times... we can talk much but words don't cut stuff up.

had Samurai fought their own way, not going for conventional style they would most probably win. that was the though. but we will never find out so this is pointless philosophie

  • @lucasrenitif

"we will never find out so this is pointless philosophie "

    Indeed.

  • @xXBerethorXx guerilla lasts for as long as it takes to kill all the fighters. samurai's here took a full size battle while their force was their speed and fear. wrong choice as we can say now , but we can't say that for we weren't there. burning down a forest in Okinawa doesn't affect you if you are on Kumejima. but this is completely out of context. samurai's were not trying to win a war , they were trying to teach a lesson.

  • @lucasrenitif yes but the whole point of this scene is because its a movie, its realistic to a certain point but the film would'nt get many good reviews if it was about samurais hiding in trees for 2 hoursd, you need to have suspence, would you rather have a documentory with samurais' hiding in spider holes with cup a' soup and some instant noodles or a really good action filled movie lol XD

  • The last samurai was actually French, his name was Jules Brunet, and the story is true.

  • @aldous they lost bcause they werent trained well. if that soldier wud fire his musket wen orderd then they wud win. a soldier cud aslo fire 3 musket shots in a minute if trained well

  • @jlm8195 actually those were the British and that was 100 years prior this. Also those men were trained very poorly or hadn't had enough time to do enough.

  • @jlm8195

Agreed, muskets could destroy calvary, it's just a matter of training.

  • The Japanese Army were using Muskets instead of Repeaters. No wonder they would lose to a charge.

  • That movie does not makes sense for me. Japanese goverment had no other option then western style reforms to make Japan modern state. In late 19th century Japan became colony of the West . 40 years later in 1905 they won against Russia and China

  • @garden2010city Which western country colonized Japan in 19th century?

  • @tokyocityrat In late 19th century after a few centuries of isolation to Japan came modern fleets of USA and UK . Obviously Japan had no chance to win at that moment. They forced Japan to sign unequal trade treaties that ripped Japan off. They also enjoyed "exterritorial jurisdiction" means -foreigners committing crimes in Japan were judged by their consuls not by Japanese courts. But unlike China or africa they try to learn as much as possible from the West -in 1905 they were equal to Russia

  • @garden2010city Dutch were the first to have full connections to the Japanese, but as trade partners

  • captain aldgreen (tom cruise knew how to fight even was not a samurai, in close range he killed like 10 samurais there

  • This scene is unforgettable

  • Man, this is one of the greatest movies of our time.

  • Samurai armor is boss...

  • the way of a tiger!!!!

  • Is it possible to redo this clip at the part where the samurais start to appear? i believe it will be more awesome.

  • 槍術を極めた侍にアメ公が対抗すなど不可能

    笑止千万

  • best scene in the movie tks for de upload ;)

  • Never give up

  • Just bought The Last Samurai's samurai sword, not sure the name of the character as i haven't watched this :P but its the Samurai from here.

  • this film got alot of criticism, but I think it's absolutely epic. sometimes critics forget that movies are there to entertain you, and this film is amazingly entertaining with a beautiful soundtrack.

  • Algren's handy with the sword on horseback even before he was trained by the Samurai but then again he was a cavalry trooper.

  • Epic fail for the "newly trained" Japanese army. Samurai and this movie are awesome

  • One of the best movies i've ever seen!

  • @3lementa1 I really love the winchester scene in the theatre. 30/30 rifle for the win ^_^

  • @Maximus1Decimus but the winner was the naginata.
