Bobbie Gentry never considered herself a country singer. Nashville adopted her and she hosted various award ceremonies but she only recorded 1 'country' LP - her album of duets with Glen Campbell.

I agree but in Bobbie Gentry's case the label of 'Country' singer is inappropriate/misleading. The only aspect of her sound that ticks the 'country' box is her singing accent which obviously made her desirable to that portion of the country audience who liked their music a little more... 'blue'.
