Dark Souls to me is, at the very least the battles are, more of a marathon and not a sprint. The game rewards methodical and cautious gameplay. The Souls games are perfect examples of high risk high reward scenarios.

Gargoyle Tail Axe will up your poison resistance - in fact, to about double of your current character's. I LOVED that thing down here, and found picking up the Poisonbite Ring was helpful too.

What sucked was ending up lost for 4 days at that bonfire, while cursed and without purging stones. That was excruciating!

The soul of the iron golem creates a axe that is based on strength (but it's not really a good weapon). That's pretty much it for boss souls you will get in the near future and i don't want to spoil to much if somebody reads this

@Kurtis282 What level are you and what weapon are you using? My best advice is contained within the video here -- use her 'lavomit' as an opportunity to get as many hits in as you can. Stay to her sides and attack her legs. The only times you have to GTFO are when she leans down to do her AOE attack, and when she lifts her legs to do the fire stomp. Hope this helps! Good luck.

Dark Souls has a few rather processor-hungry places where the framrate drops to render everything. Blighttown is probably the worst of them all, but not the only one. The Darkroot Garden / Basin, primarily the forest, as well as the New Londo Ruins and Lost Izalith will make sure to stand out. But the game can still be finished quiet well, you will learn to avoid looking at certain places to much.

Hey there Sir, some more advice. A good way of inflicting damage is the following, slightly risky approach: Be infront of her, and doge her sword strikes. Always dodge the first two strikes of her normal combo, then hit her a bit and back off before the third comes into play. You might have to not immidieatly attack after the first two to not make her trigger the third strike. Dodge to the side to attack during lavomit, run if any impaling or AOE attacks are used.

@Kurtis282 Just go into human form, and summon up a couple of people to help. Makes the fight much easier. Also, when she's not doing her lava-barf attack, attack the spider's face, it does more damage. If you stay close enough, her sword swipes will miss you (but keep up your guard), move when she uses her lunge attack though. Having others around helps greatly though, just so she doesn't focus you.

Just so you know, you can actually get the Witch's Ring without having to start the game with it. It just requires you to trade a Sunlight Maggot with Snuggly. So if you don't mind losing out on one of the most practical items in the game, you can learn a bit more about the story (a sad one at that).

If you're looking for a better shield there is the Eagle Shield near the top of Blighttown where the Dogs attack you. There is also the assassin armour with good poison resist at the bottom across the swamp somewhere (I forgot).
