Strange, i thought i have to be tougher to become an officer. Here, in Russia, we have different tests. Like minimal 12 pull-ups, 3000 metres in 12.40 minutes and so on. riot police has much more difficult tests + sparring. Though idk about western test for riot police.
@joys5487 Recruitment for police officers is closed at the moment. But to answer your question, you don't need any formal qualifications to join the police service. However you should make sure that your application form is well written and presented as grammar and spelling is assessed. Please visit the National Policing Improvement Agency's recruitment website for more information.
@lordcutter61 - generally 16 or over. To find out if there are any opportunities near where you live call us on 01622 690690 and ask to speak to the work placement coordinator for your area.
the tests really hard that hard at all u see plently of Police officers who are either fat or thin and they still carry out their duties fine but still tend too struggle with arrests if they are not strong enough etc and ive done the beep test in PE everyone does it in school so its like police training all over again LOL
Why is the bleep test only a 15 meter shuttle? Surely the standard 20 meter test would be more better?! What level do you need to reach if this is only 15 meters, as i managed 12.5 at my local gym recently running the 20 meter shuttle.
@Morrell84 The decision to use the 15-metre bleep test was made by the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) following research carried out by Loughborough University and applies to all UK forces. Compared to the 20-metre test, it is shorter but the timings between the levels are too.
We encourage our student officers to put in their best effort when completing the test even if they successfully reach the pass mark of level 5.4.
Thanks for the questions - hope this information helps.
Recruitment for police officers is not expected to open until later on this year. I have passed your ideas onto the recruitment team so they can bear these in mind in the run up to the next recruitment drive. Thank you for your comment.

Very good insight. I plan on applying to become a Police Officer just as soon as recruitment re-opens. Such a noble and respectable profession.

As the person above mentioned, I've been looking for something that shows what the training is like, thanks very much, a very useful insight.

Excellent video. I've always wondered what the fitness test was like and it's great to see an actual video of it.
Are you planning to make more videos of the officer recruitment?
I'd like to see what presentation, interview and medical test is like if that's allowed to be shown.
