you guys are smoked Page is way more original knew more about the fret board and definitely knew his way around it better Roy is good but no comparison to Page you'd compare Roy to Vaughn if it was about that any way its no competition they are all good whom i just named off and probably smoke yall at guitar
@beautifulsound100 Maybe you are right, but yet again it's a matter of opinion. The fact that you deliberately refer to Rory as "Roy", no doubt thinking it's cool or funny, doesn't really give you much credibility I'm afraid.
Well, Pagey wrote things like "Black Dog", "Kashmir" and "Stairway To Heaven". So I think it's stupid trying to compare them. They are different in style, but equally great.
You're absolutely right. Page was a great songwriter, one of the best in the 70's. But as far as playing Rory kicks his ass. Page wouldn't be able to keep up.
@jezmundberserker No way Jose! Rory blows Page out of the water. Page was good in the early days but lost his way by trying to be to much to everyone instead of sticking to his guns like Rory did..... What is so great about Black Dog Or Kashmir?? Page's best stuff is on the fist two albums. In my book, Rory shined on stage while Page was very boring.
@buchananstreet: You might be right, but it's also true that you're comparing Rory in the 70's and Rory in the 90's, and therefore you should also factor "time" into your equation. I certainly don't look like I did 20 years ago.
Sometimes I wonder what would have happened if the liver transplant went well and Rory continued. Whould his playing improve? Would he play again like he used to? Would he even continue touring? Maybe he'd just continue acoustic.
Rory always said (in interviews) that he intended and hoped to continue his career the way the classic U.S. blues guys did...in other words, he intended to play his music, his way, until he dropped.
In one way, that came true. But, oh Hell and godDAMN, he left us far too soon.
well there was a time when you could upload it to you tube if you got bit rates in a certain way for audio and video. It doesn't work for me anymore though.
i love this man so much! his character, his music, his passion everything. he turned me into rock. i simply can't have enough words for him.. greatest greatest ever!!

Rory is finally honored with a statue in 2010, since eralier date is a copy of his famous stratocaster hanging in Temple Bar, Dublin.

It's quite simple, really. Rory smokes and Page blows.

You're right.
Rory still rocks even if the voice isn't quite the same and hits his Strat to make Her cry as if She were an unfaithfull old lady.
A very moving last show at Montreux festival.

Provocative question.
Rory always said (in interviews) that he intended and hoped to continue his career the way the classic U.S. blues guys did...in other words, he intended to play his music, his way, until he dropped.
In one way, that came true. But, oh Hell and godDAMN, he left us far too soon.
RIP Rory, there was no one like you.
