Today i installed this exact same processor on my p8z68-v pro/gen3 mobo that looks pretty much exactly the same as yours but it turns on for a couple of seconds then turns off, then turns back on and a red light named CPU_LED just stays on and it just does nothing... i can only guess it means the CPU is faulty =/ any ideas?
@SUPERMONJ turns out my CPU needs a dedicated power suply! i'm not used to these modern CPUs lol but i fixed it in the end thank god! was worried because i7s are not cheap haha
I don't think much to your method of applying the thermal paste, putting it on and taking it off leaves uneven high and low points sticking out from the surfaces, the high points obviously flatten first, if an area of high points flatten around an area of low points you can be left with a bubble of air, or potentially many micro bubbles, air doesn't conduct heat well. A pyramid would be the best shape, as the high point is always touching the cpu going out as it is pushed down, pushing air out.
you mounted the fan wrong. the fan who puts air out of the cabinett should be faced towards the heat sink and the other one should face (with the nactua mark )should face outwards. one pushing air in the other sucking..
@WerewolfSlayer91 The first fan ‘pushes’ air through the radiator’s cooling fins, while the other ‘pulls’ air through from the other side, to the exhaust. in the video the nactua mark does face outwards to the exhaust fan.
@SUPERMONJ Exactly. I don't want to be rude, but just wanted to point it out in case you didnt notice.
I get your point- which is pretty clear in your video as well as in your comment. I dont know if you want the air to be pushed further into the cabinet.I would like i towards the I/O ports. 10:29 you see the noctua mark is outwards. That means it chopps the air from the side with the noctua mark on it on to the other side. Pushes airtowards the RAM chips. The other fan:inwards=pulls air out.
@WerewolfSlayer91 Well thats what fit my cabinett though. Well i realize now i was damn picky. But just turn the heatsink 180 and it would be as how i mounted it in the new PC i built. Good video by the way very helpfull. some iwssues with the mounting set which you put a spot light on. thanks for helping me build my pc.0Damn smal comments boxes cannot write what i want without shortening everything. and cutting out suff i rather be saying.
@WerewolfSlayer91 sharp eyes. yes it seems like that i he vid. i placed the fan logo facing away from the ram. see my other video. water coolinf vs air to check. o i built a server pc and SSD vid cooming soon.
@crossfirex888The only thing that is vurnable to the static electricity is the CMOS transistors. Which is mostly shielded today in most IC(Integratated circuits), like the prosessor and the chipps in the mother board which there are alot of. The CMOS transistor "detects" the volatge it its normal operation parameters(low voltage). The static electricity (which is normaly 1000 volts or much higher) destroys the "detecting" ability of the transistor =redering it useless. But do ground yourself. :)
@adminworn really ?damn do i really need to buy a new mainboard jus for it mine got a LGA 1156 just one number of a difference,u kno lists of processors usable on my socket?
@SUPERMONJ no, LGA was gonna be quad channel, and Ivy Bridge (ex Sandy) was gonna be dual channel. Dual-mode speed is the same as a three-channel, four-and how, in the tests. But in this case (3 DDR3) you will lose 10-15% performance, because the memory works in single channel mode.
@ifabulist Yes Great point, thank you. Intel is targeting a 30 percent graphics performance and 20 percent CPU performance boost compared to Sandy Bridge. no matter what we buy, buy the time we try to fully use a CPU a new one comes out
@SUPERMONJ I have a question about dualchannel: Does that mean the CPU can only properly use 2 RAM modules, or does it mean that using more than two RAM Modules doesn't run as good?
if you want dual channel you need to do the following arrangement, using just two sticks
slot 1 | 3 | OR slot | 2| 4
So three sticks of RAM would be one dual channel + an extra stick. However if you fill all four you will be running two sets. Hope that clears things up.
nice video, finally getting my sandy bridge cpu next week still cant decide which will run games smoother either the 2500k or the 2600k with my gtx 570

Might wanna check if those pins that contact the cpu are bent after that one.
Something like that instantly voids any instore warranty you have.

Was it difficult to secure the cpu? I tryed to instal this on my p8p67 pro motherboard and it feels like it doesent fit

@ForeverLaughing221 I am having the same issue right now. I feel as though there is too much tension on the CPU and its going to snap.

@iLessThan3MMA It's fine, just press it down, it only just feels like theres too much tension. Im on the new comp now, It working great

@leezaal thans. go with the 2600k.the 2600k has better overclocking headroom/runs at higher clocks with lower voltages than the 2500k.
SUPERMONJ 10 months ago
@leezaal The 2600k also has "Hyper Treading" giving you 8 ProcessingThreads in windows, instead of 4. So in theory the 2600k is Quad Core.
