Pronger is a number 1 defence man and philly is doing great with him because he intimidates plays like Chara and Hal Gill but is a better skater than the other two. Emery is way better that Biron because Biron was like swiss cheese and let in so terible goals.

I stopped after you said Biron was a good thing. Biron is inconsistent, not particularly good, and a large part of the reason the Flyers didn't go FURTHER last season. Nitty is good, but he's a backup and not better than Emery. Emery has been to a Stanley cup. Biron is now unable to hold a starting goalie job on arguably the worst team in the league. I'm really not sure what the issue here is.

Emery seems to have clamed down a bit, he's playing good hockey, he's making the tough saves just having a little trouble with pucks going through traffic... Pronger seems a little more relaxed as well, and carcillo isn't piling up the penalty mins yet... things are looking pretty good right now... could have a better record but its early still

We were a .500 team with that good pairing, so unless you want to settle for mediocrity it's time to move on. We have to improve our team or we'll never win anything. I was introduced to hockey by going to a Flyers game (back in the Legion of Doom days). I was crushed when they fired Terry Murray after losing the Stanley Cup. Crushed when they let Brindy go. And LeClaire.

I know things change. But to me, the Flyers never seem to give their team a chance to gel.

I generally tend to put my support behind teams that have a true TEAM attitude - and coaches that don't put up with bullshit from other players (Paterno is a great example).

I think Emery will be a good boy this season. From what I hear, Russia was not a very nice play to play and the conditions and facilities were primitive to say the least. Also, Emery signed a 2.0 million-dollar contract with his Russian team but was only paid 1/2 of that. I think he's learned to appreciate what he had here. He'll be okay in Philly. .....
