Penny metaphorically "dropped the bomb" by calling Sheldon's mother, who ordered him to return the laundry and stop persecuting Penny.

I think the writers deliberately leave clues all around, I love shenny, but if they ever become something more I think it would be just the same from here, they are both to intense and stubborn to enter into a "conventional relationship" (which a lot of people think will happen, idk why) Also, Penny is one of the few women that have seen Sheldon out of his comfort zone, and that's great for an interesting relationship.

AND the actors have great chemistry so... :D

This was the first Big Bang Theory episode that I ever saw (and I only started watching it when it was already half way through the episode ) and I seriously thought that Penny and Sheldon were together.

Now, after watching all three seasons that are out, I think of them more as siblings with how they acted with each other. But that's just what I think. That and I'm a Penny/Leonard fan.

But still, the scenes with these two are definately my favourite!

People who think sheldon and penny should get together don't get what would have to happen. Sheldon's character would have to be drastically changed (he is incabable of having a healthy relationship with anyone the way he is now) thus taking away what makes sheldon sheldon. Or penny's character would have to be drastically changed ( she is cabable of having more then a strained friendship with sheldon the say she is now) thus taking away what makes penny penny. They have great chemistry and in recent chapters we have come to know that they complain just because they are accustomed to it, but they actually care about each other. They are (like Chuck Lorre said) two "great forces", they are too intense and too stubborn to back off from each other. The writers would like to explore that, but it doesn't mean they will focus on the sex, sex and some more O.o
