What a nice man you seem to be! Praise God, but unfortunately your on the wrong side of the spiritual battle between GOoD & the dEVIL. Scripture gives all men full instructions on how we must be saved=through Jesus Christ alone. Primacy of Peter, Marion dogma, untrue authority of priest/popes, indulgences, purgatory, sola scriptura, sola fide, transubstantiation, mandatory celibacy of priest & nuns, abolving of sins, ect are all against biblical teachings which are God checks & balances.
@soccafreak93 Sorry for the long delay - I've been on a self-imposed break.
What do you call your male parent? Or your physician (doctor = teacher). And of course St. Paul refers to himself as the Corinthians father in the faith (1 Cor. 4:14–15). Please read: catholic.com/library/Call_No_Man_Father.asp and if you still disagree, tell me on which point and we can continue this then.
@glizag The Pope IS the vicar of Christ. And in some way your are too! Did not Joseph receive a dream from God that his brothers would bow down to him? The message in Acts is NOT "Do not show homage" BUT "I am a fellow beggar" - to say otherwise is an inconsistent application to the texts.
@catholiccourage Vicar implies that the Pope takes the place of Christ this is not true as the Holy Ghost is Christ's Vicar on earth~not a man in a dress
The dream in Gen is where Joseph was 2nd to Pharaoh & was bowed down to ~ because he had a place of position & his position was not a religious one like the Pope
I will not do homage to a man who calls himself the HOLY FATHER (God's TITLE)
Neither would I kiss his king or feet or put him on a throne, Peter would not accept these things POPES DO
The Catholic Church are cowards...they never do nothing to defend them selves against criticism, almost like lambs to the slaughter................................wait a minute?
mary also was a sinner i am afraid and her and joseph had other children too so therefore the mary worshipping is out of the window :) Also the Lord says in the Ten Commandments not to worship anything iin the sea, on the earth, or in the heavens that is not him for he is a jealous God. Yet Catholics pray to saints, angels and the dead which is idolatry. The Bible also says that the dead do not hear or speak. They have not been resurrected yet.
Catholic Courage, Great job! Keep up the jaunty good cheer! It's great to be Catholic... Including hearing all those anti-Catholic whoppers, which can be real thigh slappers...Particularly when your realize their serious, eh? Peace and All Good
Thanks for the reminder, michiganois! It's easy to get too serious, thinking the burden of convincing of truth rest on our shoulders when the best we can do is share the truth with clarity, compassion and a good bit of joy! Peace to you as well!
I was a Protestant for over ten years. I know the arguments against the Church backwards and forwards and no poorly Catechized priest is going to be able to tell me why God gave up on the Church that the gates of hell will never prevail against and to whom Jesus promised to lead into all truth.
I don't trust Catholic, prodestant or any other religion. I do trust in Jesus though and I there's nothing better than to gather in his presence. I can't make my mind up about the Catholic Chruch because, for one, Catholics look so much to Mary. This would be ok to me if Jesus told us to pray to Mary but he doesn't. Do you question this? Should we question? It's confusing me because we can communicate with Jesus directly without going through Mary. Why does Jesus not teach us Mary worship??????
That Jesus selected one priest who "split the scene" is as a prophetic statement as you can get for informed Catholics. Most whom I have had the honor of knowing gave me every reason to stay and to hold fast to the faith that comes to us from the apostles. Peace and All Good
Is this your interpretation of what they believe or have they said the above things verbatim? Here are my responses:
1. Jesus condemned VAIN repetition not repetition in general. Jesus "gave the blessing" at the last supper. This was a memorized prayer. Do you not sing memorized songs? Do they still come from the heart?
2. Paul said "don't forsake the assembly..." If they sin afterward that's not a Catholic problem, but a sin problem that goes all the way back to the beginning of time.
3. Jesus said we are Born again (or above) by water and the Spirit. Jesus commanded us to be baptized and Peter said "...Baptism, which now saves us" (1 Peter 3:21).
catholiccourage: The bible clearly states in Acts & Timothy that in order to be saved, one must "believe" and "confess". Babies are unable to do either one.
Can a mentally retarded or mute person be saved? Baptism is "the circumcision of Christ" - and we know the Hebrews were circumcised on the eighth day.
Rom 10:9 does not say "you must believe... " making it an strict requirement (this would exclude people who lacked the function of speech. Instead it says "if you believe..." In addition, the purpose of this text is not on how one becomes saved but the extension of salvation to the Gentiles. Prooftexting is not a good way to develop doctrine.
Luke 20 could not be about the Catholic Church since it did not exist yet. It is clearly pointed at the chief priests. The application is to anyone who uses their religious position as means to vainglory - and it's a sin, whether or not you wear robes.
So let me get this straight. Being the whore of Babylon has nothing to do with objective evil, of killing saints, of blasphemies and such but the color of religious garments? Episcopalians wear scarlet? So do Buddhist. I saw John Ankerberg in a scarlet sport coat once...
...And these seven mountains, scripture says is the seven kings. In addition, how long was the Whore supposed to be around? The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus himself and we see popes all the way back to Peter.
Look at The Confession of Peter " Petros" which means a stone, and " this rock" "Petra" solid bedrock which Christ said He will build his church on, himself. And Peter says in his epistle " we're all spiritual stones being built into the temple of God". No where did Jesus Give him supremacy. God is no respecter of persons. Jesus founded the ( universal church) yah obviously. But a Man that claims to represent him, and sit ex cathedra as Father Son and Holy Spirit. And teachesthatMaryiscoredeem
At first glance the word endings may seem substantial. But consider most importantly that Jesus spoke to Peter in Aramaic, where there is no difference, not Greek. Secondly, the Greek language does not allow Peter to be named in the Feminine "Petra". And to say God's impartiality does not allow for apostolic or prophetic offices is inconsistent with scripture. These type of errors happen when one's highest authority is one's own ability to interpret scripture.
I think many see what salves their conscience. They know if there is no authoritative church (like in Acts), they can justify any behavior and follow their itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4). I'd be more concerned with a customizable Christianity than one that has been steadfast for 2000 years, which St. Paul calls the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15).
First, because Paul says, 1 Cor. 7, 2. 9: To avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife. Also: It is better to marry than to burn. Secondly Christ says, Matt. 19,11: All men cannot receive this saying, where He teaches that not all men are fit to lead a single life; for God created man for procreation, Gen. 1, 28. Nor is it in man's power, without a singular gift and work of God, to alter this creation.
4. I've been a Catholic a long time and I've never actually seen a Catholic bow down to a statue, but I have seen people pray in front of them (including kneeling). Regardless of the actions displayed they are not worshiping the statues (or the saints they represent) because this is strictly forbidden by both scripture and the Church (which are always in agreement).
catholiccourage: I've watched the media coverage on the pope. Catholics ARE worshipping him. They run to get a glimpse of him, bow down to him, kiss his ring, etc. He wears a crown & people claim he's the "holy father". In my bible, there's only one who's holy and that is JESUS.
Imagine if ppl acted like this to the leader of the Southern Baptist Convention. They'd be labled whackos.
Thanks for the good laugh! I agree that they would be labeled whackos. They claim no special office and have no relationship to Jesus except that of faith. The Pope on the other hand is a successor of Peter whom Jesus made first among his brother apostles. We love the Pope by virtue of his office, that he come as the chief ambassador of Jesus Christ in the world. We lavish honor on him because we love Jesus!
I love Catholics but I'm not sure about the Church. If we understood Jesus then would we know that the only true Church of Jesus was made up of all those who belong to Him? Is
the body of Christ made up of all those who are part of His body? Is the Church of Jesus "of this world" along with those who belong to Christ? Is Gods Church part of Gods Kingdom - or is it part of this world? I'm just trying to establish the truth. Can we be decieved? I question - I'm seeking the TRUTH. Love - Peace.
Good question. Jesus paint a different picture of the Church. He says that there will be both good and bad fish, sheep and goats, and wheat and weeds in the Church. For example, Judas was part of "the Church", in fact he was a leader. So the Church is like the Israel of the Old Testament, in the world, filled with good and bad, yet the people of God.
Are you blind - they do prostrate themselves before the Pope no matter which way you look at it. "The Holy Father" is another name for God. Clever your way out of it as much as you like - but it doesn't wash with me or God. If the Pope isn't leading the people then what is he doing. He said the Catholic Church is the only true Church -yet this Church is as worldly as it gets. Jesus said the world hates those who belong to me - now Check the Pope - Loved by the World. Was jesus telling lies? NO.
You and many others hate Catholics, and you do so based on lies. This is the way the devil gets people to hate His people. You twist the truth to justify your hatred because the Church, "The Pillar and Foundation of Truth" is outside of your power to change so you try to change it with lies and distortion - The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against God's Church.
The Church changed it because "the Lord's Day" became the primary day of worship. This is evidenced in the writings of John. We see that after the resurrection (the reason for the change) John's next events also focus on the Lord's day (the first day of the week). In Revelation his vision also takes place on the Lord's day.
Keep the sabbath day Holy - that means exactly what it says. This is a commandment of God. Did Jesus ever mention any change to the sabboth (which had beeen following a perfect 7 day cycle from as far back as Moses and maybe before). We can jump to conclusions if we wish - but the facts point to the truth that the early Church kept the Sabboth as it had always been kept. The Romans made Sunday the day of rest for the whole Roman empire - forcing Christians to worship on Sunday. Check it out.
The Church clearly has the right and responsibility to change discipline (see acts 15). As far as the early Church keeping the "Sabboth (sic) as it was", show me your proof. In addition, Paul showed some flexibility in this matter (Romans 14:5--6a).
Is it me, or does anyone else notice obvious fake laugh this guy uses to try and make his opinion seem more believable? LOL! You have GOT to be kidding me!
Yes.. it is an obvious attempt at swaying the mind. This is somethign we all learn to do as children. Sadly, some still use it. Problem is.. those with eyes that see can easily see how deceptive this truly is.
SO AS TO AVOID FURTHER EVASION TACTICS... I will ask a simple question. "Catholicourage," When the Scriptures show followers of Christ bowing before Him and kissing His feet IS THAT CONSIDERED WORSHIP? Yes or No please
I assume your are talking of the woman with the alabaster jar. Are you saying that she knew Jesus was God? I have no idea whether she was worshiping him. If you know something that the scripture doesn't tell us here, let us all know.
You just can't answer with a simple yes or no can you? I thought you SAW the video? Nevermind.., your evasion proved what I wanted to stress. I see no more reason to converse with you. Lying is a sin even if you only do so by evading that which you know is true. Good bye
Markday1 is mad because I couldn't in good conscience answer yes or no - my "yes" must be yes and my "no", no. But the question was bad, not my answer. Like when someone asks "Did you stop beating your wife?"
EVERYONE can easily see that the question was simple and your explanation is exacty as Mark said it would be. EVASION.
It's so clearly a double standard so as to worship the Pope. BTW, the term "Holy Father" is one Jesus Himself used for HIS FATHER in John 17. When you give a pope that title you give the pope that worship as well
I thought he did answer the question. He said he did not know because it would depend on if they knew he was God.
One thing is clear though, Jesus was in a Pharisee's house who saw the woman. If the Phariee thought she was worshiping him as God he would have stoned her and at least rebuked Jesus for not stopping her.
I just put a similar post on the NicholasPOGM "Act Of Worship". I know some of these antic-Catholics are simcere, but I believe some are just out to stir up the pot between Christian and then they laugh at both of us. I wish that non-Catholics would evaluate the attack before they join in. This attack is baseless.
Brilliantly put across, and explained excellently. I worship you man.. ooops... i mean i praise you... mmmm... maybe not, i dont want anyone mis-interupting me, i just want to say thanks for the video and give you a big spiritual hug for posting it.
Thanks Earl! I return the nod, which could be construed as a bow - though not one befitting a deity - only a man-to-man bow (or man-to-woman if that were the case - which it's not - unless Earl is a pseudonym). Nonetheless, You rock! Though you are not The Rock... Well, just thanks for the praise... er... kind words.
Why do Catholics say it IS worship when bowing to Jesus and kissing Him, yet NOT worship when you do the exact same thing to the Pope? I noticed you never commented on this question on your other vid. Will you do so here?
Many things differ depending on intent. If I praise my wife (Prv 31), it's according to her humanity. If I praise God, it's according to His divinity. You see a boogie man that isn't there.
Still didn't answer the question. Catholics say to bow and kiss Jesus is worship, to bow and kiss the pope isnot. PLUS, what of all the quotes from the Vatican declaring the pope "God on earth?" If you're not worshiping him, then why do you bow, kiss, and call him God?
If the Church is what you say, they are the most ineffective leaders in history. According to you, they are anti-Christ, yet they churn out hundreds of millions who promise to obey Jesus Christ and reject the devil. Those same listen to the words of Jesus every week - many every day. Many have been martyred for the name of Jesus and other embrace poverty to love him with total freedom. Maybe the obvious answer is the correct one - you're wrong.
HOW is that proof the Scripture s wrong? All I ever see from you is "opinions" and never any Scripture proving the prophecies misdirected. Bikers have "toys for tots" every year, yet the majority deny Christ, how does "good deeds" gaurantee Heaven when the Bible says they dont?
How can you imply there are no scriptures that say that we will be judged by our works? How many do I need to show you before you will believe? Jesus, St. Paul, St. James they agree - but you know better?
Catholic theology twists the Word of God for the ecumenical "Universal" reason that was prophecied about Antichrist. The Hindu, Muslim and other non-Christian faiths won't join and worship the Pope UNLESS they agree doctrinally. NOWHERE in the Bible does it say we gain Heaven by works as you and the Hindu or Muslim assume. In fact, it says in Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
You misrepresent both Scripture and Catholic teaching. The Church and scripture both say we are not saved by faith alone, that our works MUST match our faith and without such works we will be damned.
Anti-Catholics string a bunch of misrepresentations together and the shear number causes doubt in some and anti-Catholic fanaticism in others. They're all misrepresentations and shouldn't be given any weight at all. Your job is to solve these simple questions yourself by asking "How can this be true?" not simply say to yourself "Aha! I gott'em now."
Nice try, but truth is truth. Theprophecy states clearly hundreds of features and the Vatican fulfills them all. To this day I have NEVER seen a Catholic prove those fulfillments false. They ALWAYS get angry, twist the "fundie's" words around, or evade and run off
I have never expressed anger, twisted your words, evaded or run off. I made a salient point about praising my wife and you either disregard it or fail to grasp it. You believe what you do for your own reasons - objective truth is not one of them.
Yes you did evade. Praising your wife is NOT an answer, it's simple evasion. Catholics BLUNTLY admit to bow and kiss Jesus' hand or feet = worship, yet the EXACT SAME THING done to the Pope is not? If it's ok to do, then why did God make such an issue about it in Scripture? BECAUSE ANTICHRIST WILL DEMAND WORSHIP.
The Pope doesn't demand worship. Case closed. Show me one example of the pope demanding worship and I'll continue this discussion. So show me a demand by the pope for actual worship (not just bowing or kissing or any such sign of respect) and I'll make a video conceding this point.
Statues which bleed and cry real tears - if that's not Satan's hadywork then what is? Can't you see how Satan is doing all in His power to keep our eyes off Jesus. And what about all religions praying to the same God. Jesus said nobody comes to the Father unless they come through Him. Did jesus die to save our souls? So what's the Pope doing by making Jesus irelivent to our salvation? All praying to the same God? I thought Jesus was crutial to who God is. The Pope is denying Jesus Christ.
Why can't you follow the teachings of Jesus. Why do you have to follow the teachings of a massive worldly institution. The Gate to Heaven is very narrow and few will find it. The Road to Hell is wide with many following it. Those who belong to Christ are hated by the world. Those who belong to Christ don't belong to the world. Those who are loved by the world belong to the world. Read the Bible and stop listening to the corrupt teaching of the world. Following the crowd is the highway to hell.
It's great that you believe all those fairy tales and speak with the appearance of a grasp on the subject. You seem very sure of yourself and your beliefs. That's splendid.
My guess is that you're referring to the ordination. In Revelation 4:10 the twenty four elders fell down and worshiped - everyone else were doing whatever they were doing before. So to say that the presider - a bishop (in this case, the bishop of Rome) - needs to join them shows our lack of exposure to non-egalitarian structures.
And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him. And when it came to pass that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell down at his feet, and worshipped him.
26 But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.
See Acts 7:2, where Stephen refers to "our father Abraham," or in Romans 9:10, where Paul speaks of "our father Isaac." Also, "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher" (2 Tim. 1:11) and "doctor" is simply the Latin word for "teacher." . Can a little boy or girl call her daddy "father" or the teacher, "teacher"? Paul says he's Onesimus' father in the faith (Philem. 10).
Jesus is clearly speaking in a rabbinic fashion in Mt 23:9.
so what does that make calling a priest? Why call the priest the same title you call upon God? By doing so, the priest becomes an authority figure as well, if a man, a father, a head of a household, calls a priest Father, the same way he calls God Father, than he places the priest as his 'hat' in the head of the household, rather than God. I think, that's what Jesus was getting at.
Though for some reason, I knew you'd put it that way.
Why does Paul say he's Onisimus' father in faith? The priest is an authority figure. Who says it's the same way as we call God "father"? And I don't see anything about 'hats' anywhere in scripture.
What I hear you saying is that you don't think God should have any middle management. Jesus doesn't feel this way.
Why do you say that what they say must always be of God - are they not fallible? God has always used fallible middlemen (priests, prophets, apostles, bishops, presbyters [which is translated "priest"]).
Catholiccourage: But when Jesus died for us, the middleman (Priests of Juda, High priests etc) removed, as Jesus was the High Priest. No more would you need to go to an ordained man for forgiveness, God had made the sacrifice. The new covenant was done. Elders would still exist, as shepards for the herd, the power to Forgive sins, is Gods Perogative.
Apostles, Pastors, Teacher, Presbyters, Bishops and others are all New Testament 'middlemen'. Your ideas of "just me and Jesus" are not biblical. Your version of Christianity may fit well with the American ideas of rugged individualism, but they don't square with Scripture or 2000 years of Church history.
In John 20 Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive sins.
If you believe in Jesus as our saviour, our sins will be forgiven. In what way is this unbiblical? In what way MUST there be a middleman, other than Jesus? Who is the middleman for the middleman? Since so many of today, claim to be apostles, some of them must be wrong, who is wrong? So are you really gonna trust someone that claim to be something, that you do not need to have in order to be forgiven? If you understand my question.
what about the fact that the vatican requires you to pray to Mary and only through her can you be delivered. Its says in the bible that the only way to God is Jesus--I am the WAY, the truth, and the light..
And why does Gods representative on Earth need bullet proof windows. This proves that the Pope has got no faith in the God He's supposed to represent . Jesus made it quite clear that there was no need to protect Him because He knew He would not die until the time was right. God is in control - and you would think that Gods representative on Earth would be protected by God. The Pope is a fraud because He doesn't have any faith - it's as simple as that. Peace - Love
Do you brush your teeth, wear a seatbelt, avoid cigarettes, clean wounds, take vitamins, see a doctor, rest when your sick, moderate your fat intake, avoid sharks, avoid vermin, bathe.
Wasn't St.Paul secretly lowered from a window in a basket? We call all these acts prudence which is a virtue (as is wisdom ;))
God's representatives be protected by God? I think not! How do you explain the martyrdom of the Apostles and the Christians during the Roman persecutions? Being God's representative only makes you more likely to be killed. Do you choose to not wear a seatbelt because you have faith God will protect you? Honestly I find it unfair that you judge the faith of a man that I think is safe to assume you have never met. Out of respect for the Apostles I think we should show respect to their successors.
Sorry, I shouldn't judge,,,I'm just trying to find the truth. Maybe I'm blind and ignorant. The only truth I know for sure is the presence of Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I know that God is my Father in Heaven but I find it hard to relate to the Catholic faith. I know that Satan is very powerful and he is the master of deception. Signs and wonders can come from the Devil and I see statues bleeding, and Mary speaking. I'm genuinely searching for the truth since Jesus warns us about deception. love.
If you are trusting Jesus then you are on the right path for sure! If you take an honest objective look at the Catholic Church and its beliefs and also look at the beliefs of the 1st/2nd/3rd century Christians you will see we have the same beliefs (Eucharist, honour to Mary, Church hierarchy, confession, etc.). How can you say we worship Mary when the Church strickly forbids this? You cannot know Mary without being brought closer to Jesus. That's her job.
What's wrong with talking to Mary? That's all it is - asking her to pray for us because her prayers would be much more powerful than ours. Of course we can communicate with Jesus without Mary, who says we can't? We are part of the body of Christ. His body is in this world and the next. Angels are intimately watching over us - they even know when one repents because they rejoice over this. This goes to show the lines of communication between this world and the next are truly open!!
Mary said that all generations will call her blessed. The prophesy is certainly true in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. If you genuinely and objectively try to understand the Catholic Church with an open heart and study the teachings of those who were actually disciples of the Apostles like Ignatius for example you will see that the Catholic Church has the fullness of the truth. Please send me a private message and I will recommend some material that will totally change your view!
Yes but your claim that God has ordained them as mediators makes their judgements infallible. Or am I incorrect in saying that the RCC believes in it's infallibility?
I think your statements are a little overreaching. The pope is infallible when making formal statements regarding faith and morals - that is when he speaks ex-cathedra, which means "from the chair". The Magesterium (the teaching office of the Church) is also free from error in these matters.
I fail to understand how catholics can hold their own values above God himself. He doesn't care how YOU feel about bowing and such, because GOD HIMSELF DISAPPROVES OF IT. Open your Bible. Get out of bed with the beast.
We both may be guilty of rash judgement. I accused NicholasPOGM also of censoring my posts. I do find it a bit suspicious that all his comment support him.
Ah yes, the ultimate in catholic response. DENY DENY DENY! No matter how many mountains of proof are shared DENY DENY DENY.. how convenient. Funny how you don't comment on the other quotes laid out on that site, or the OTHER videos. In any event.. GAME OVER.. I will have to follow meepal's lead here. Liars can't be trusted.
Markday1, It's not so easy to locate poorly referenced citations. You on the other hand simply regurgitate the position of some other anti-Catholic and call me a liar when I bother to research and respond to your misconstrued quote. Fact is, I didn't deny, I simply stated my opinion. May I ask your opinion on the context of the quote?
I could not readily find this book, the complete name is Discorsi del sommo pontifice Pio IX, written by Pasquale de Franciscis. Though I don't doubt this was an accurate portrayal of the Pope's words, the context is most important. Pius was arguing to reestablish the temporal power of the papacy in Italy. In the end his statements has little affect. Secular rule was here to stay. No smoking gun here, IMHO.
It appears mr Catholic lacks courage, or YouTube is censoring a "certain" website. Everytime I tried to post the webpage (without the dot) that made the original video it was not allowed to post. There is a page on that site that has more quotes about the popes and Caesar.
Did those that you say bowed to people CALL THEM GOD as the pope demands in writing? Yes, some did, like PHAROAH. That wasn't sin? Why didn't you comment on those quotes directly from the Vatican where the pope calls himself "God on earth" sir?
The poster cites many documents, some authoritative and some not - anything to make his fallacious point. Although the Pope rightly claims the title "Vicar of Christ" - and Jesus Christ is God. Only in their proper context do the authoritative quotations accurately reflect the Church's position. No pope has ever demanded divine worship. To claim such is preposterous.
lying is a sin sir. You ADMIT some quotes are "authoritative" yourself. Plus, there are dozens of quotes from Vatican archives on that site proving you lied here. If they're not proclaiming themselves "god on earth" then why are they demanding worship from politicians? No need to respond. One lie means many more are coming.
You call me a liar but I'm not supposed to respond on my own video post.
Show me a true demand for worship and I'll concede my error (lying and error are different animals). I think you would like it to be true - for what reason, I do not know. Who would want to fabricate the sin of idolatry?
I began a search of the times where people bowed to those other than God and found eleven occurrences in Genesis alone. There was no rebuke, not even by angels, so I don't understand your point. I think you're drawing a conclusion that doesn't exist.
I've provided adequate means by which any rational person could disprove the position that NicholasPOGM makes equating bowing to divine worship - and not a peep about it. I think too many are gullible when it comes to anti-Catholic rhetoric.
adequate means? WHERE?? If you're talking about this video, there isn't a single bible believing christian that will believe anything you say here because (again) you shared NO SCRIPTURE to back up your claims. A "thus saith the Lord" is what moved Bereans in the book of Acts. Why doesn't it move Catholics? (See Amos 8:11,12 for reasons why) :(
This was a video response and extemporaneous to the post of NicholasPOGM (which he refused to post). The scriptures that he used, pointed to bowing solely as worship. This is clearly not the case (see my comments). Call me a liar if you want, but in doing so you violate a pillar of God's moral law, the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:16).
Seeing how meepal123q has decided never to respond to you again due to lies, I will do so. You cannot use the Law of God to back your sin and claim the one exposing you is in sin. That is what Satan (and Rome) has been doing for centuries. Those with eyes that see know EXACTLY what you're doing here. With that said.. I too refuse to respond to your posts as they are not trustworthy.
NicholasPOGM, why did you remove my comments and this video response from your video? In the open marketplace of ideas you, like N. Korea and the Taliban, resort to eliminating all who oppose your statements.
What a nice man you seem to be! Praise God, but unfortunately your on the wrong side of the spiritual battle between GOoD & the dEVIL. Scripture gives all men full instructions on how we must be saved=through Jesus Christ alone. Primacy of Peter, Marion dogma, untrue authority of priest/popes, indulgences, purgatory, sola scriptura, sola fide, transubstantiation, mandatory celibacy of priest & nuns, abolving of sins, ect are all against biblical teachings which are God checks & balances.

what about when you call him father? that contradicts the Bible right?
Matthew 23:9- And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.

I think the pope in a dress is different than your wife in a dress.
Peter didnt like people bowing before him yet the pope encourages it.
But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man. Acts 10:26
I think catholics should take Peter's admonition and not BOW before men, especially a man who is deluded into thinking that he is the vicar of Christ.

mary also was a sinner i am afraid and her and joseph had other children too so therefore the mary worshipping is out of the window :) Also the Lord says in the Ten Commandments not to worship anything iin the sea, on the earth, or in the heavens that is not him for he is a jealous God. Yet Catholics pray to saints, angels and the dead which is idolatry. The Bible also says that the dead do not hear or speak. They have not been resurrected yet.

Rob187ok 3 years ago
That Jesus selected one priest who "split the scene" is as a prophetic statement as you can get for informed Catholics. Most whom I have had the honor of knowing gave me every reason to stay and to hold fast to the faith that comes to us from the apostles. Peace and All Good

I have catholic friends who I love dearly, but as a protestant, there are things I don't understand.
"Reciting" prayer or scripture in church. God says prayer should come from the heart.
They believe it's w/great importance to 'go to church' & then afterwards, it's a free-for-all on how to act.
They believe salvation is from the 'holy' water that's sprinkled on you as a baby?
Bowing down to statues in the church?
I just don't get it; the bible teaches against these things?
ytdsmom 3 years ago

Babies are unable to do either one.
ytdsmom 3 years ago
Can a mentally retarded or mute person be saved? Baptism is "the circumcision of Christ" - and we know the Hebrews were circumcised on the eighth day.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
That is up for God to decide as He is the only one who truly knows the heart. I'm just not sure how you get around Romans 10:9.
Also, it seems that Luke 20:46 (among other scriptures) is speaking of the Catholic religion. What other could it be?
ytdsmom 3 years ago
Rom 10:9 does not say "you must believe... " making it an strict requirement (this would exclude people who lacked the function of speech. Instead it says "if you believe..." In addition, the purpose of this text is not on how one becomes saved but the extension of salvation to the Gentiles. Prooftexting is not a good way to develop doctrine.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
Luke 20 could not be about the Catholic Church since it did not exist yet. It is clearly pointed at the chief priests. The application is to anyone who uses their religious position as means to vainglory - and it's a sin, whether or not you wear robes.

In studying the Bible, what other religion could the scriptures be referring to?
ytdsmom 3 years ago
So let me get this straight. Being the whore of Babylon has nothing to do with objective evil, of killing saints, of blasphemies and such but the color of religious garments? Episcopalians wear scarlet? So do Buddhist. I saw John Ankerberg in a scarlet sport coat once...
catholiccourage 3 years ago
It's not just the religious garments obviously. There are many other references that could only lead to one conclusion in my opinion.

...And these seven mountains, scripture says is the seven kings. In addition, how long was the Whore supposed to be around? The Catholic Church was founded by Jesus himself and we see popes all the way back to Peter.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
Look at The Confession of Peter " Petros" which means a stone, and " this rock" "Petra" solid bedrock which Christ said He will build his church on, himself. And Peter says in his epistle " we're all spiritual stones being built into the temple of God". No where did Jesus Give him supremacy. God is no respecter of persons. Jesus founded the ( universal church) yah obviously. But a Man that claims to represent him, and sit ex cathedra as Father Son and Holy Spirit. And teachesthatMaryiscoredeem
Zigguret 3 years ago
At first glance the word endings may seem substantial. But consider most importantly that Jesus spoke to Peter in Aramaic, where there is no difference, not Greek. Secondly, the Greek language does not allow Peter to be named in the Feminine "Petra". And to say God's impartiality does not allow for apostolic or prophetic offices is inconsistent with scripture. These type of errors happen when one's highest authority is one's own ability to interpret scripture.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
I think many see what salves their conscience. They know if there is no authoritative church (like in Acts), they can justify any behavior and follow their itching ears (2 Timothy 4:3-4). I'd be more concerned with a customizable Christianity than one that has been steadfast for 2000 years, which St. Paul calls the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim. 3:15).
catholiccourage 3 years ago
Steadfast?? Foundation of Truth??
It's so clear to others what happens under man-made doctrine (i.e. no marriage = homosexual acts).
ytdsmom 3 years ago
You obviously are ignorant of the fact that St Paul was unmarried as was Jesus.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
I'm not ignorant..
1, 28. Nor is it in man's power, without a singular gift and work of God, to alter this creation.
ytdsmom 3 years ago
Exactly! The Catholic church does not require all men to be celibate.
catholiccourage 3 years ago
4. I've been a Catholic a long time and I've never actually seen a Catholic bow down to a statue, but I have seen people pray in front of them (including kneeling). Regardless of the actions displayed they are not worshiping the statues (or the saints they represent) because this is strictly forbidden by both scripture and the Church (which are always in agreement).
catholiccourage 3 years ago
catholiccourage: I've watched the media coverage on the pope.
They'd be labled whackos.
ytdsmom 3 years ago
Thanks for the good laugh! I agree that they would be labeled whackos. They claim no special office and have no relationship to Jesus except that of faith. The Pope on the other hand is a successor of Peter whom Jesus made first among his brother apostles. We love the Pope by virtue of his office, that he come as the chief ambassador of Jesus Christ in the world. We lavish honor on him because we love Jesus!
catholiccourage 3 years ago
I love Catholics but I'm not sure about the Church. If we understood Jesus then would we know that the only true Church of Jesus was made up of all those who belong to Him? Is
the body of Christ made up of all those who are part of His body? Is the Church of Jesus "of this world" along with those who belong to Christ? Is Gods Church part of Gods Kingdom - or is it part of this world? I'm just trying to establish the truth. Can we be decieved? I question - I'm seeking the TRUTH. Love - Peace.
Rob187ok 4 years ago
Good question. Jesus paint a different picture of the Church. He says that there will be both good and bad fish, sheep and goats, and wheat and weeds in the Church. For example, Judas was part of "the Church", in fact he was a leader. So the Church is like the Israel of the Old Testament, in the world, filled with good and bad, yet the people of God.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Are you blind - they do prostrate themselves before the Pope no matter which way you look at it. "The Holy Father" is another name for God. Clever your way out of it as much as you like - but it doesn't wash with me or God. If the Pope isn't leading the people then what is he doing. He said the Catholic Church is the only true Church -yet this Church is as worldly as it gets. Jesus said the world hates those who belong to me - now Check the Pope - Loved by the World. Was jesus telling lies? NO.
Rob187ok 4 years ago
You and many others hate Catholics, and you do so based on lies. This is the way the devil gets people to hate His people. You twist the truth to justify your hatred because the Church, "The Pillar and Foundation of Truth" is outside of your power to change so you try to change it with lies and distortion - The Gates of Hell shall not prevail against God's Church.

Why did the Catholic church change the Sabbath from Saturday, to Sunday?
elgalloprieto 4 years ago
The Church changed it because "the Lord's Day" became the primary day of worship. This is evidenced in the writings of John. We see that after the resurrection (the reason for the change) John's next events also focus on the Lord's day (the first day of the week). In Revelation his vision also takes place on the Lord's day.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Keep the sabbath day Holy - that means exactly what it says. This is a commandment of God. Did Jesus ever mention any change to the sabboth (which had beeen following a perfect 7 day cycle from as far back as Moses and maybe before). We can jump to conclusions if we wish - but the facts point to the truth that the early Church kept the Sabboth as it had always been kept. The Romans made Sunday the day of rest for the whole Roman empire - forcing Christians to worship on Sunday. Check it out.
Rob187ok 4 years ago 2
The Church clearly has the right and responsibility to change discipline (see acts 15). As far as the early Church keeping the "Sabboth (sic) as it was", show me your proof. In addition, Paul showed some flexibility in this matter (Romans 14:5--6a).

SO AS TO AVOID FURTHER EVASION TACTICS... I will ask a simple question. "Catholicourage," When the Scriptures show followers of Christ bowing before Him and kissing His feet IS THAT CONSIDERED WORSHIP? Yes or No please
markday1 4 years ago
I assume your are talking of the woman with the alabaster jar. Are you saying that she knew Jesus was God? I have no idea whether she was worshiping him. If you know something that the scripture doesn't tell us here, let us all know.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
You just can't answer with a simple yes or no can you? I thought you SAW the video? Nevermind.., your evasion proved what I wanted to stress. I see no more reason to converse with you. Lying is a sin even if you only do so by evading that which you know is true. Good bye
markday1 4 years ago
Markday1 is mad because I couldn't in good conscience answer yes or no - my "yes" must be yes and my "no", no. But the question was bad, not my answer. Like when someone asks "Did you stop beating your wife?"
catholiccourage 4 years ago
EVERYONE can easily see that the question was simple and your explanation is exacty as Mark said it would be. EVASION.
It's so clearly a double standard so as to worship the Pope. BTW, the term "Holy Father" is one Jesus Himself used for HIS FATHER in John 17. When you give a pope that title you give the pope that worship as well
meepal123q 4 years ago
I thought he did answer the question. He said he did not know because it would depend on if they knew he was God.
One thing is clear though, Jesus was in a Pharisee's house who saw the woman. If the Phariee thought she was worshiping him as God he would have stoned her and at least rebuked Jesus for not stopping her.
Bogamir 4 years ago
I am confused; are you claiming that the act of bowing to someone is worshiping them as God?
If so then why did Israel bow to Esau seven times in Gen 33:3 or Abraham bow to people in 23:7?

QUESTION:
Why do Catholics say it IS worship when bowing to Jesus and kissing Him, yet NOT worship when you do the exact same thing to the Pope? I noticed you never commented on this question on your other vid. Will you do so here?
markday1 4 years ago
Markday,
Many things differ depending on intent. If I praise my wife (Prv 31), it's according to her humanity. If I praise God, it's according to His divinity. You see a boogie man that isn't there.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Still didn't answer the question. Catholics say to bow and kiss Jesus is worship, to bow and kiss the pope isnot. PLUS, what of all the quotes from the Vatican declaring the pope "God on earth?" If you're not worshiping him, then why do you bow, kiss, and call him God?
markday1 4 years ago
If the Church is what you say, they are the most ineffective leaders in history. According to you, they are anti-Christ, yet they churn out hundreds of millions who promise to obey Jesus Christ and reject the devil. Those same listen to the words of Jesus every week - many every day. Many have been martyred for the name of Jesus and other embrace poverty to love him with total freedom. Maybe the obvious answer is the correct one - you're wrong.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
HOW is that proof the Scripture s wrong? All I ever see from you is "opinions" and never any Scripture proving the prophecies misdirected. Bikers have "toys for tots" every year, yet the majority deny Christ, how does "good deeds" gaurantee Heaven when the Bible says they dont?
markday1 4 years ago
How can you imply there are no scriptures that say that we will be judged by our works? How many do I need to show you before you will believe? Jesus, St. Paul, St. James they agree - but you know better?
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Catholic theology twists the Word of God for the ecumenical "Universal" reason that was prophecied about Antichrist. The Hindu, Muslim and other non-Christian faiths won't join and worship the Pope UNLESS they agree doctrinally. NOWHERE in the Bible does it say we gain Heaven by works as you and the Hindu or Muslim assume. In fact, it says in Ephesians 2:8,9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
markday1 4 years ago 2
You misrepresent both Scripture and Catholic teaching. The Church and scripture both say we are not saved by faith alone, that our works MUST match our faith and without such works we will be damned.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Anti-Catholics string a bunch of misrepresentations together and the shear number causes doubt in some and anti-Catholic fanaticism in others. They're all misrepresentations and shouldn't be given any weight at all. Your job is to solve these simple questions yourself by asking "How can this be true?" not simply say to yourself "Aha! I gott'em now."
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Nice try, but truth is truth. Theprophecy states clearly hundreds of features and the Vatican fulfills them all. To this day I have NEVER seen a Catholic prove those fulfillments false. They ALWAYS get angry, twist the "fundie's" words around, or evade and run off
markday1 4 years ago
I have never expressed anger, twisted your words, evaded or run off. I made a salient point about praising my wife and you either disregard it or fail to grasp it. You believe what you do for your own reasons - objective truth is not one of them.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Yes you did evade. Praising your wife is NOT an answer, it's simple evasion. Catholics BLUNTLY admit to bow and kiss Jesus' hand or feet = worship, yet the EXACT SAME THING done to the Pope is not? If it's ok to do, then why did God make such an issue about it in Scripture? BECAUSE ANTICHRIST WILL DEMAND WORSHIP.
markday1 4 years ago

Mat 23:9 And call no [man] your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.
Catholic priests are called "Father"
end of story.
fenriswolfr 4 years ago
See Acts 7:2, where Stephen refers to "our father Abraham," or in Romans 9:10, where Paul speaks of "our father Isaac." Also, "For this gospel I was appointed a preacher and apostle and teacher" (2 Tim. 1:11) and "doctor" is simply the Latin word for "teacher." . Can a little boy or girl call her daddy "father" or the teacher, "teacher"? Paul says he's Onesimus' father in the faith (Philem. 10).
Jesus is clearly speaking in a rabbinic fashion in Mt 23:9.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
so what does that make calling a priest? Why call the priest the same title you call upon God? By doing so, the priest becomes an authority figure as well, if a man, a father, a head of a household, calls a priest Father, the same way he calls God Father, than he places the priest as his 'hat' in the head of the household, rather than God. I think, that's what Jesus was getting at.
Though for some reason, I knew you'd put it that way.
fenriswolfr 4 years ago
Why does Paul say he's Onisimus' father in faith? The priest is an authority figure. Who says it's the same way as we call God "father"? And I don't see anything about 'hats' anywhere in scripture.
What I hear you saying is that you don't think God should have any middle management. Jesus doesn't feel this way.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Where does Jesus not feel this way?
So you're saying the priests are Gods middle men, so then what they say must always be that of God.. hmm.. interesting
Act 5:29 Then Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
fenriswolfr 4 years ago
Why do you say that what they say must always be of God - are they not fallible? God has always used fallible middlemen (priests, prophets, apostles, bishops, presbyters [which is translated "priest"]).

Elders would still exist, as shepards for the herd, the power to Forgive sins, is Gods Perogative.
Mekelsior 4 years ago
Mekelsior,
Apostles, Pastors, Teacher, Presbyters, Bishops and others are all New Testament 'middlemen'. Your ideas of "just me and Jesus" are not biblical. Your version of Christianity may fit well with the American ideas of rugged individualism, but they don't square with Scripture or 2000 years of Church history.
In John 20 Jesus gave the Apostles the power to forgive sins.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
If you believe in Jesus as our saviour, our sins will be forgiven. In what way is this unbiblical? In what way MUST there be a middleman, other than Jesus? Who is the middleman for the middleman? Since so many of today, claim to be apostles, some of them must be wrong, who is wrong? So are you really gonna trust someone that claim to be something, that you do not need to have in order to be forgiven? If you understand my question.

I'm genuinely searching for the truth since Jesus warns us about deception. love.
Rob187ok 3 years ago 2
If you are trusting Jesus then you are on the right path for sure! If you take an honest objective look at the Catholic Church and its beliefs and also look at the beliefs of the 1st/2nd/3rd century Christians you will see we have the same beliefs (Eucharist, honour to Mary, Church hierarchy, confession, etc.). How can you say we worship Mary when the Church strickly forbids this? You cannot know Mary without being brought closer to Jesus. That's her job.
canman86 3 years ago
What's wrong with talking to Mary? That's all it is - asking her to pray for us because her prayers would be much more powerful than ours. Of course we can communicate with Jesus without Mary, who says we can't? We are part of the body of Christ. His body is in this world and the next. Angels are intimately watching over us - they even know when one repents because they rejoice over this. This goes to show the lines of communication between this world and the next are truly open!!
canman86 3 years ago
Mary said that all generations will call her blessed. The prophesy is certainly true in the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. If you genuinely and objectively try to understand the Catholic Church with an open heart and study the teachings of those who were actually disciples of the Apostles like Ignatius for example you will see that the Catholic Church has the fullness of the truth. Please send me a private message and I will recommend some material that will totally change your view!

Get out of bed with the beast.
nirvanasnoogans 4 years ago
We've already shown that there is no prohibition to bowing in the Bible.

People really accuse us of worshiping the Pope? For pantyhose's sake, people.

Thanks for the LOL! I know it may be a waste of electrons, but I'm hoping I can bring a little light and diffuse a little heat.

Do you lack "courage" Mr Catholic? Why is it my post was never shared regarding Caesar???
markday1 4 years ago
We both may be guilty of rash judgement. I accused NicholasPOGM also of censoring my posts. I do find it a bit suspicious that all his comment support him.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Ah yes, the ultimate in catholic response. DENY DENY DENY! No matter how many mountains of proof are shared DENY DENY DENY.. how convenient. Funny how you don't comment on the other quotes laid out on that site, or the OTHER videos. In any event.. GAME OVER.. I will have to follow meepal's lead here. Liars can't be trusted.
markday1 4 years ago
Markday1, It's not so easy to locate poorly referenced citations. You on the other hand simply regurgitate the position of some other anti-Catholic and call me a liar when I bother to research and respond to your misconstrued quote. Fact is, I didn't deny, I simply stated my opinion. May I ask your opinion on the context of the quote?
dwegner 4 years ago
using a "different" name won't get me or any Christian to respond. Consider me ignoring you.

Sleep well. ;)

It took me a while to see that I had posted under my other user name. Good catch. Watch out for those tricksy Catholics. ;)

Question. Does history prove the people were instructed to worship Caesar? Yes or no.
markday1 4 years ago
It is generally accepted that some, but not all Caesars required divine worship. What's your point?
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Pope Pius IX, in his "Discorsi" (I., p. 253): "The Caesar who now addresses you, and to whom alone are obedience and fidelity due."
markday1 4 years ago

There is a page on that site that has more quotes about the popes and Caesar.
markday1 4 years ago
If I lack courage it is not in this regard. YouTube is very picky about posting URLs. As far as I'm concerned, post away!
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Did those that you say bowed to people CALL THEM GOD as the pope demands in writing? Yes, some did, like PHAROAH. That wasn't sin? Why didn't you comment on those quotes directly from the Vatican where the pope calls himself "God on earth" sir?
markday1 4 years ago
The poster cites many documents, some authoritative and some not - anything to make his fallacious point. Although the Pope rightly claims the title "Vicar of Christ" - and Jesus Christ is God. Only in their proper context do the authoritative quotations accurately reflect the Church's position. No pope has ever demanded divine worship. To claim such is preposterous.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
lying is a sin sir. You ADMIT some quotes are "authoritative" yourself. Plus, there are dozens of quotes from Vatican archives on that site proving you lied here. If they're not proclaiming themselves "god on earth" then why are they demanding worship from politicians? No need to respond. One lie means many more are coming.
markday1 4 years ago
You call me a liar but I'm not supposed to respond on my own video post.
Show me a true demand for worship and I'll concede my error (lying and error are different animals). I think you would like it to be true - for what reason, I do not know. Who would want to fabricate the sin of idolatry?
catholiccourage 4 years ago
I began a search of the times where people bowed to those other than God and found eleven occurrences in Genesis alone. There was no rebuke, not even by angels, so I don't understand your point. I think you're drawing a conclusion that doesn't exist.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Saying there are "eleven occurances" without sharing them so preachers can verify them and comment on them proves nothing.
meepal123q 4 years ago
I've provided adequate means by which any rational person could disprove the position that NicholasPOGM makes equating bowing to divine worship - and not a peep about it. I think too many are gullible when it comes to anti-Catholic rhetoric.

Genesis 19:1-2
catholiccourage 4 years ago
adequate means? WHERE?? If you're talking about this video, there isn't a single bible believing christian that will believe anything you say here because (again) you shared NO SCRIPTURE to back up your claims. A "thus saith the Lord" is what moved Bereans in the book of Acts. Why doesn't it move Catholics? (See Amos 8:11,12 for reasons why) :(
meepal123q 4 years ago
This was a video response and extemporaneous to the post of NicholasPOGM (which he refused to post). The scriptures that he used, pointed to bowing solely as worship. This is clearly not the case (see my comments). Call me a liar if you want, but in doing so you violate a pillar of God's moral law, the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:16).
catholiccourage 4 years ago
Seeing how meepal123q has decided never to respond to you again due to lies, I will do so. You cannot use the Law of God to back your sin and claim the one exposing you is in sin. That is what Satan (and Rome) has been doing for centuries. Those with eyes that see know EXACTLY what you're doing here. With that said.. I too refuse to respond to your posts as they are not trustworthy.
markday1 4 years ago
No need to converse with people liek this. When lying is second nature you cannot tell what the truth is from their lips. So.. move on
meepal123q 4 years ago
What's with all the ad hominem attacks? If I'm in error, show me. If you can't show me, just agree to disagree.
catholiccourage 4 years ago
All I see here are excuses and opinions. Not one single SCRIPTURE to prove it is ok to bow to or kiss a pope's hand. WHY IS THAT?
NicholasPOGM 4 years ago
NicholasPOGM, why did you remove my comments and this video response from your video? In the open marketplace of ideas you, like N. Korea and the Taliban, resort to eliminating all who oppose your statements.
