There's a huge difference between this version and the original. Somehow the overdrive effect has been switched to massive distortion and Bowie's British accent has clearly faded away to a more American one. This is therefore not my favorite version :(

"that thing" (as you call her) is Gail Ann Dorsey. She is one of the best touring bass players who has worked with lots of huge acts. Nothing too flash .. she can riff out but she is tight in the pocket. She can also sing. I saw Bowie in France a few years ago from the side of the stage and she was ripping it up! Respect!
