Real simulations should have realistic damage. This game obviously doesn't. GT5 dropped the ball on that. No one can look at this video and say otherwise. When it comes to damage to vehicles, this game doesn't have it.

@xLyricalSh0tx Why? Most high end performance cars can easily do some hardcore powerslides without flipping. The center of gravity in that car looks to be petty high though, but i don't think that you can flip it on tarmac by going sideways.
Race Driver GRID with real driving physics and a graphic update would rape this game, but GRID isnt a simulator. codemasters should go back to making simulator games.
I can just imagine people taking advantage of the "Gliding along the walls technique" where you get your car going at 200mph and hugging the wall into a curve only to continue around the next corner unscathed, I really hope damage is sufficient enough so people don't start abusing that, but then again everything has it's pro's and cons. If damage is implemented accurately, then some guy behind me might ram my rear engine vehicle and fuck up my race, so it ends up a double edged sword anyways.

Did you watch the video? It's not the best damaging effect I've seen in a videogame, Dirt 2 looks better damage-wise, but still, it's an improved on its predecessors considering GT has never had damageable cars.

I play Grid, try it then tell me its not good. Damage physics is spot on 100% realistic. Driving physics is a mix between realism and arcade but the physics is still there and its awesome. All i'm saying is, GT5 at this point should be the king of all racing games, but clearly the damage looks terrible. Yeah, you're right. I have Forza 3 and an Xbox 360 only, and with the whole detail disappointment I'm sure GT will do some pretty harsh ass wooping. The only thing Forza 3 COULD have on GT5 is the game engine; I have never played a racing game with such physics.

the only game that really knows how to show damage is burnout, but sense the physics suck, that game died. gt5 looks really good but the options for car customization and number of cars are not there, as well as the physics don't stand a chance to fm3. fm3 ftw.
And it is confirmed that GT5 will have around a thousand cars.
My money is that forza's physics will be better but not extremely noticeably better.
Better graphics and a more diverse racing calander give me reason to want to buy a ps3 and GT5 when it coms out.
Plus GT has a chance to look at FM and fix anything they fucked up on in the game. Forza came first and if GT5 is better they should feel no shame. GT has an advantage.
okay, i was mistaken, gt5 has tons of cars, but physics and crash simulation sucks. grid is really nice, next best to burnout but the physics are still way off, it's so easy to drift in that game, and especially to race, maybe grid3 will be better? plus grid doesn't have any customization and hardly has any cars. /: real shame, super fun game. so with that said, forza=physics gt5=overall good but not superb? (sound good?) and grid=fun and destructive.

GT5 got pushed back to 2010 because the NASCAR license that still belongs to another game deloper will only expire by the end of this year. This is why PD recently annunced that they will have better damage and to ALL cars because of the unplanned extra develoment time.

I downloaded the demo of Forza 3, and the cars handle like wooden boxes...theres no in car animations (changng gear) and just because they achieved approval rom the different manufacturers....its ridiculously easy to roll a car...like theres low gravity or something!!!

History is history. NFS series has great history but now look at it. The history of a game means nothing, its what it will do in its future. Now it has strong competition from FM3 people are realizing which is the better game...hence why people are buying more xbox's. Read the comment again, i said OVER 900 cars. The create a track option is cool yeah along with the weather feature. I don't care about the licenses. FM3 has the enhanced damage too. See all this stuff you listed off can be added to FM3 through downloadable content so it's not like it CAN'T have it. FM3 has FULL customization on all cars something that GT5 is lacking, which is a HUGE feature. That alone brings in more gamers. I believe FM3 has better physics but thats my opinion.
Lets be honest with FM3 damage system, it looks worst than FM2? am i wrong? and According to Yamauchi he said he created the Physics close to reality driving. I don't know how much limitation there is to Customization in GT5 but GT5 never really been about Customization its always been about Deep Gameplay and Being able to create my own Tracks is Good Enough since i own a Logitech GT Wheel. Don't get me wrong Forza 3 is a Great Game with the best Customization ever seen in racing game but when i was playing it, it wasn't really there. And There isn't really any good supported Steering wheels Apart from Microsoft ones which is rubbish.Because the G25 or G27 doesn't work on the XBox 360 and the G25, G27 and Logitech GT Forcewheels are the best on the market and they all work on GT5P

You do know that GT5 physics are closed to Real Life according to YAmauchi. GT5 include mechanical and external damage modeling, including a real-time deformation engine that will process model deformation according to the speed and angle of impact. I play Grid, try it then tell me its not good. Damage physics is spot on 100% realistic. Driving physics is a mix between realism and arcade but the physics is still there and its awesome. All i'm saying is, GT5 at this point should be the king of all racing games, but clearly the damage looks terrible. You cannot deny the fact that GT5 SHOULD BE the be-all end-all of all racing games, but it doesnt look like it will be.

Yeah, you're right. I have Forza 3 and an Xbox 360 only, and with the whole detail disappointment I'm sure GT will do some pretty harsh ass wooping. The only thing Forza 3 COULD have on GT5 is the game engine; I have never played a racing game with such physics.

the only game that really knows how to show damage is burnout, but sense the physics suck, that game died. gt5 looks really good but the options for car customization and number of cars are not there, as well as the physics don't stand a chance to fm3. fm3 ftw.

And it is confirmed that GT5 will have around a thousand cars.
My money is that forza's physics will be better but not extremely noticeably better.
Better graphics and a more diverse racing calander give me reason to want to buy a ps3 and GT5 when it coms out.
Plus GT has a chance to look at FM and fix anything they fucked up on in the game. Forza came first and if GT5 is better they should feel no shame. GT has an advantage.

okay, i was mistaken, gt5 has tons of cars, but physics and crash simulation sucks. grid is really nice, next best to burnout but the physics are still way off, it's so easy to drift in that game, and especially to race, maybe grid3 will be better? plus grid doesn't have any customization and hardly has any cars. /: real shame, super fun game. so with that said, forza=physics gt5=overall good but not superb? (sound good?) and grid=fun and destructive.

Well, this is awful... completely unrealistic. The first Carmageddon had better damage than this. Polyphony, you can do better!
As a simulation (the real driving simulation is the tagline after all) if you slam yourself against the wall, that's it, try again, game over, learn to drive carefully next time. If you kiss a rock at speed with your front wheel, bye bye wheel, fender, headlight, you flip over, sorry try again.
Of course for the whiners I would include the option to turn it off.

GT5 got pushed back to 2010 because the NASCAR license that still belongs to another game deloper will only expire by the end of this year. This is why PD recently annunced that they will have better damage and to ALL cars because of the unplanned extra develoment time.

This game looks 7,000,000X better than Forza 3. Plus it has WRC Licensing.
I downloaded the demo of Forza 3, and the cars handle like wooden boxes...theres no in car animations (changng gear) and just because they achieved approval rom the different manufacturers....its ridiculously easy to roll a car...like theres low gravity or something!!!
Make me a game with the graphics and modelling of Dirt2, with the Physics and gameplay of RacePro !!!!

History is history. NFS series has great history but now look at it. The history of a game means nothing, its what it will do in its future. Now it has strong competition from FM3 people are realizing which is the better game...hence why people are buying more xbox's. You should sit and look at what game is worth its money and exactly how much there is to do in either game. FM3 is a HUGE game in terms of how much they packed in to it.

Yes but NFS never had a Strong image of Hardcore racing, its always been looked at as a Arcade racer. and Yes FM3 is a very indeed STRONG competitors but if you take a look at GT5P sales it has gone on to sell almost 4 Million Copy and its not even consider to be the full game.
Well if you want to talk about Sales and compare it between 360 and PS3 then the PS3 has been outselling the Xbox 360 worldwide every month. Also do you even know how much content is in GT5? its PACKED

GT5 even have licences something Forza does not have. Enhanced damage System which affects the cars on how they drive. i mean what more can you ask for? it has everything. Read the comment again, i said OVER 900 cars. The create a track option is cool yeah along with the weather feature. I don't care about the licenses. FM3 has the enhanced damage too. See all this stuff you listed off can be added to FM3 through downloadable content so it's not like it CAN'T have it. FM3 has FULL customization on all cars something that GT5 is lacking, which is a HUGE feature. That alone brings in more gamers. I believe FM3 has better physics but thats my opinion.

I don't know how much limitation there is to Customization in GT5 but GT5 never really been about Customization its always been about Deep Gameplay and Being able to create my own Tracks is Good Enough since i own a Logitech GT Wheel. But we both have different taste. FM3 has Crazy customization No Kidding about that. Best paint job ever

Well its not ARCADE ARCADE but its somewhat in between Simulation and Arcade.
Don't get me wrong Forza 3 is a Great Game with the best Customization ever seen in racing game but when i was playing it, it wasn't really there. And There isn't really any good supported Steering wheels Apart from Microsoft ones which is rubbish.Because the G25 or G27 doesn't work on the XBox 360 and the G25, G27 and Logitech GT Forcewheels are the best on the market and they all work on GT5P

You do know that GT5 physics are closed to Real Life according to YAmauchi. GT5 include mechanical and external damage modeling, including a real-time deformation engine that will process model deformation according to the speed and angle of impact. Something Forza does not have, Forza damage is basically paint scratch lol if you don't believe me go watch some Youtube videos and GT5 cars can rollover
