I posted this one because of the hot trumpet solo on it. Strange, I posted it to DM too but it showed up there with entirely different music added so I deleted it. Glad you liked the photos. Also I am not taking this one down. I want people who come here to listen to it read that WMG removed an obscure song from the 1920's on an old Edison 78. Maybe get a few people thinking or angry.
Sorry to see WMG has pulled the audio on this. I'm not sure I understand how Warner could own the rights to an Edison recording, unless the own the music score rights?
Did they give you any indication what the problem is?
This WMG/UMG copyright nonsense is really getting out of hand.
I got no notice or indication. I don't understand how an obscure song like I'm Sorry Sally from an old 1920's Edison recording would concern any music group. I don't even know the composer of this tune. Does anyone know the composer?
I have a recording of I'm Sorry Sally by Danny Altier and his Orchestra recorded in Chicago in 1928. It is a rare recording of Chicago style jazz of the 1920's and the recording has Muggsy Spanier on cornet who I have always enjoyed. It would be interesting to upload that recording and find out if they take the sound out. Since it was on Vocalion and not Edison we would know if it was removed it was because of the song and not the 78 recording company.
I can't hear any sound, but the pics are excellent, especially that one signed by Lionel Hampton, where he is with a hot rod, a 1934 Ford Hiboy Roadster, more exactly. Thanks
It's a shame we can't hear the song but it's always nice to see photos of you, Jazzgirl.

It was written by a Ted Fiorito, and first published by Leo Feist Inc of NY in 1928.
The Templeton Digital Sheet Music Collection has it marked as a restricted file, so I can only guess the composition is under copyright?
If that's the case, I can't see how MickeyClark69 has had Morton Downey Sr. - I'm Sorry ,Sally 1928 Vic 21806 uploaded for over a year.
I thought all Edison recording were public domain. Once Edison shut the doors, there was no-one to collect royalties on his recordings.

Why not give it ago :)
It would be nice when they did this, if they gave you a specific reason other than WMG says so :)
Have you seen the feature video on my channel page about getting the audio put back?
I'm thinking about reloading one I've had disabled and giving it ago. It's worth the effort if it gets up the nose of WMG corp lol.

I notice the video is up over 100 views now. Interesting because there is no audio. Maybe people like the pictures of me by the vintage car.

That's a very good reason for watching this video!
I still don't understand what's the interesting in the copyright of an Edison recording from 1928. Who can be economically hurt by this?
Anyway, the pics are great, and I am a big fan of vintage cars and early hot rods.
(Notice: I'm "OscarPetersonFan"; this is the band's account)
I hope to hear your nex video,
Lucas
