Awesome!! You can look at the screen or look around it to see everything else. I don't know how it's in real life. I would love to try it! How would you see the screen? Like a floating tv in the middle of your vision or something? Isn't the tv a bit transparent? From the outside you can also watch at the guy's eyes. You can see a little screen in the middle.
the appeal to something like this isn't really what he is demoing imo (e.g. watching movies etc), its useful heads up displays, if you treat it along those lines instead of just a glorified monitor the potential is significantly higher...
Ok, anyone with common sense (whats so common about people having sense) would know its not a good idea to walk about with halve your view abscured, as for what HMD are good for is obviously Immersive interactive experience.
But the problem is the fact that Most Hmd promise a very non immersive experience, ala 60" tv from 10 ft away stuff. not really good. its time HMD manufactures step up to the plate and deliver 120degree FOV stereo3d with headtracking. True VR not virtual lcd
i like that the size of the unit has been dramticly reduced (in particularly from relocating the components to the glasses arms and eliminating the reflection prism. but the notion of 62" screen from 6 feet away just dont cut it. In order for HMD's to truly be successful the virtual FOV needs to be at least over 80 degrees. is must be stereoscopic and feature headtracking. All of which is achievable. but everone keep making the same old glasses repackaged. its about immersion! not virtual lcdtv
and OH please!!! theres nothing new about these glasses. HMD have been around for many many years both for gov and pro-consumer markets. its the fact that the specs for glasses of this type hasnt changed for many years. People expect immersion. and that means a display that dominates your FOV like your eyes view the real world. triple the size of the display range (FOV) and you will open a truly new market.
LOVE his reaction to "used by the military?" "YES!">>"and...uh... that's all I can say without having to uh..." ...What? Having to whip your mouth with turlet paper?
i need to find an hmd that can do atlesat 1280x800 pixels has a nice large screen that takes up all of my field of vision and can be comfortably used while laying in bed on my back, yea i know what ur thinking but theres nothing perverted about it, it would jsut be sooo much more comfortable to be able to do everything i need to do on my pc in bed laying at what ever angle was most comfortable, does anyone know of an hmd that fits all these criteria
what a fuck in 2010 have same video resolution like 1999 on Video Glases like this , only 640x480 pixels Zeiss suck like others constructors of video glasses , same low resolution , hello we are in 2010 ..put out FULL HD 1920x1080 pixels resolution video glasses , and like that you have real big screen like in movie theater .
All video glasses suck with low resolution and big price , 500$ for this VHS resolution ...like 1980 time !!!!!!!
@Lokivoid I partially agree but how would exactly stand out if you use them in your own home or even at a bar when everyone knows what it is...and if you say what if they dont know what it is..well they will know it is because it they will ask and bartenders will tell them and they will be known
Wont they hurt your eyes though in the future after long use?

@VicentiuB Pixel densities on LCDs aren't quite there yet. Microvision's managed to get up to 720p on their RSD equipment, though.

Can these be used for office work? If so, with a wireless keyboard/mouse setup you could sit, stand, walk around while typing and working.

Lumus does have military variant of this technology.
