  • go to theblackvault . com they ave all kinds of declassified documents about everything to do with the government this is where i found out about europa and much more such as deep space exploration and extraterrestial life and colonies that were never released until the freedom of information act took place.

  • ATTEMPT NO LANDING HERE.

    ALL THESE WORLDS, EXCEPT

    EUROPA ARE YOURS.

    USE THEM TOGETHER,

    USE THEM IN PEACE.

  • ocean sandwitch hmmmmm i want one

  • ... How is it that NASA orbits Europa and ESA orbits Ganymede, when ESA is the European Space Agency. If anything we should be the ones on Europa. Aw well, so long as we're the first to put the colony on Europa, I guess we're good.

  • why are they waiting until 2020 to do this mission? it's like the coolest most profound mission humans could do

  • I can't wait 'till this mission launches!

  • i dont understand how are they gonna search for life if its gona be under the surface and the satellites are just gonna orbit not land and drill

  • @lvll138inrs the russian one will drill

  • haha u guys are retarded.

  • i wanna see how other planets look like so bad

  • Once Europa Jupiter System Mission is completed in 2029, what is going to be the next logical mission in the Jovian System and when might it be launched? Are there any conceptual studies on the mission that will follow Europa Jupiter System Mission?

  • Isn't JAXA putting in a probe to investigate Jupiter's magnetic field and Russia putting in a lander to do in situ studies of Europa? Respond plz.

  • @SpaceAnimator Here’s a response from Cassini Project Scientist Bob Pappalardo:

“Indeed the Japanese Space Agency (JAXA) has expressed interest in a Jupiter Magnetospheric Orbiter spacecraft as part of EJSM, which might then also explore a trojan asteroid in the vicinity of Jupiter. Also, Russia is considering a capable lander to Europa, which may follow onto EJSM. If these exciting ideas come to fruition, the international exploration of Jupiter and its moons would benefit greatly.”

  • @Glennfalconi well jupiter actually dose hae oxygen, and there is a thoery (that i heard) it has been proven that there is water on jupiter... now even without oxygen, in the movie Aliens the aliens dont need oxygen, so what if the creatures on jupiter dont. there could be a kind of plankton-ish thing, then fish that eat the plankton, then creatures that eat the fish that are comparable to walruses, or whales or somthing. or just bigger fish...

  • @Glennfalconi oh, and about the gravity level, again, the aliens thing.

  • @linkrulessonicsux I'm not sure if i'm following you man.

  • @Glennfalconi what im saying is, if there were live, it would be fish and stuff... so far its not really gonna be easy to prove a possibility of life comparable to humans.

  • @linkrulessonicsux Ahh. Yes that could be possible. Only it's going to be hard for us to find out. If a car could stand still there it would just flatten like on the bottom of the ocean.

  • @Glennfalconi yeah like if sombody were to make themself VERY sturdy and strong, with a suit that senses movements and moves with them, and makes you super strong but its light has a slight possibility of standing XD but the suit thing probably hasnt been invented yet.

  • @linkrulessonicsux imagine they bought one of those fish back to earth, it would be the most expansive suhi in the world and I bet some Japanese business guy would buy fit for lunch too :)

Seriously though I cannot wait till 2020! I was not born at the time of the Moon landing but this would be as exciting for me. Even just to see the ocean beanth would be amazing let alone some form of life. If they did find some intelligentlife down then it would be just mind blowing.

  • So how about OUR moon? Could there be water under there? And does the moon europa really stretch and flex? Incredible. It could be a underwater world. Only.... I'm not sure about the temprature.....

  • i thought there was also a theory of life on jupiter itself...

  • @abradras yeah i dont know which comment i made you said no to but i guess i have to agree with you now. a while ago i would have argued.

  • Why would they name it after a continent?

  • @Glennfalconi because continent Europa was named after Greek mythology character.so this moon is not named after continent but after name in Greek mythology. you can find more about this on internet :)

  • What if the conditions for life there are just like the deep sea guysers on earth but we don't find life, wouldn't it be cool to introduce life to a whole new world, it would be one massive petri dish that we could experiment on.

  • What about Enceladus? It has geysers, so could it also have an ocean?

  • Here is a response from Bob Pappalardo, Study Scientist for Europa Orbiter of the Jupiter Joint Science Definition Team:

Yes! The existence of the geyser-like jets at Enceladus--which spew water vapor and ice crystals into space--does not alone demonstrate the existence of an internal ocean, but the jets do tell us that Enceladus is very active today.

  • Other recent data from the Cassini spacecraft, especially the salty chemistry of these geyser-like jets, suggest that Enceladus probably has a liquid water ocean. From Enceladus we can learn more about how Europa works, and vice versa. However, differences between Europa and Enceladus need to be considered when making comparisons, including that the two moons are different in size, and the activity at Enceladus may be relatively short-lived while that at Europa is probably much longer lived.

  • @JPLnews - It's really exciting that there are so many places in the Solar System alone where there is liquid water and thus maybe some form of life. Fascinating.

  • I want to be a planetary geologist.

  • too bad it takes so long to prepare for these missions and actually get there. one lifetime is just not gonna be enough for me to get some answers, not that any of this really matters in the grand scheme.

  • The amount of money this requires is a drop in the ocean compared to what we gave to banks.

  • I knew about Europa but Ganymede and Callisto too?!?

    LAUNCH THIS PROBE NOW!

  • This mission is a MUST!

  • This mission is a MUST!

  • If humanity would stop killing each other over silly mythological beliefs we'd have all kinds of money to pour into missions like this.

  • @OzStone Yes! It is the fault of religon. That is what keeps up behind from development.

  • @OzStone Or we could worry about fixing our own planet, before fucking up another world

  • Totally awesome! I didn't know there could be oceans anywhere but on Europa! That mission would be SO exciting! 5 stars! : )
