Good for you man...but don't forget that Mexican music is a mix of European and nantive sounds. To this day Mexicans can't figure out the true origens of mariachi; however, all you have to do is listen to some German Polka to have an clear idea. So if you are of German descent, there is a very good reason why you like this music! Saludos!

Wow hold on there. Yes I agree with you 100% that they have awesome voices, stronger than Vargas. But to say that they play better, now thats a little absurd! Being a charro myself, been playing for 10yrs now, I can tell that Vargas is a lot more tighter and has the more mariachero sound to their music. Not to belittle Cobre,they are from my hometown Tucson, Az, but they are not the same as they were 10 yrs ago.

Still like Cobre better. And how is it absurd? My opinion is based on their sound and musicianship. Steve Carrillo is one of the best singers, and I think "Vargas" is getting a little "out there." Their arrangements are getting way too intricate. These guys keep is straight ahead mariachi.

Well its been 10 months but i barely saw your post.Yes Vargas' arrangements are now starting to sound like a symphony. But historically Vargas has always had the more tight mariachero sound, and they still do. If you ever attended the Mariachi conference you would clearly hear the difference. I am by no means crtizing Cobre, but merely stating the obvious in the mariachi world. I guess you would have to be a charro to understand that!
