That's some impressive Japanese speech. I've been watching anime series for more than 20 years now but I still don't understand Japanese. I know you have a Western accent though because you sound different than all native Japanese speakers I've heard so far, but ofcourse still very impressive. I wish I could talk Japanese so that I don't have to use subtitles for movies/series. I'm ethnically Chinese but Dutch is my native language and English my second.

Well, you know how it is with us gaijin, we tend to learn our Japanese from ladies (my wife in particular) and perhaps we don't mind sounding girly so much. That could just be me! But also, it often seems to me that Japanese males aim for more manly voices. When western films are dubbed the make the men sound really macho.

I learnt by doing a part time job at a Japanese television company as the lowest of the low - a cameraman's tripod carrier. Fun job.
