For earth day, I turned all the lights and appliances on. I put the AC and the furnace both on to fight it out. I left my car running in the driveway all day and threw recyclables in the regular garbage. I ate beans and farted myself unconscious with methane.
Fuck the eco-idiots and the man-made global warming bullshit.
I find these symbolic gestures rather meaningless. Bette to conserve every day if conservation is the goal. This is almost as bad as a "Walk-a-Thon for Hunger" or the such. Instead of doing meaningless, trivial little symbolic acts do something that really makes a difference. Unfortunately events like this distract people from doing real things that actually make a real difference in the world. Most unfortunate.
Your are absolutely right about that. We have an average electric bill of 200 dollars when the mean average on this island is 400 (the cost of power here is enough incentive to conserve). My vehicle has only 30,000 miles and I've had it for over six years now.
The symbolic acts however would at the very least bring attention to conservation, I believe. More has to be done, that's for sure.
I do agree with you to a point, but do remember that this action was made to send a clear massage to politicians that we care and we will use our vote on those of them that have the political will to do something about the climate crises.
I am so glad you did, we are on our way out to down town Oslo to make a walk with the Mayor Fabian Stang. The goal is to get as many as posible to honor it as you did.
we got over 1000 people to join in here in memphis we didnt need lights at our track meet either

I am having an Anti-Earth hour party at my house. If you are in the Chicago area drop me a line.
We have kegs of beer, we are turning on all our lights and running our cars for the entire hour.
We will also have a bon fire with free cigars! Stop on by and help me stop this fascism!!!!!!!!!
