  • 0:50,what is this song?

  • To NYYCF, sorry, I cannot tell you the name of the tune you ask about, I think it may be a new composition for the occasion but it is a 6/8 March of the traditional and martial Scottish style. The Kilted soldiers you see are The Black Watch (Scottish Highlanders) as well as Gurkhas from Nepal and Hong Kong soldiers also dressed in traditional Scottish uniforms who have clearly opted to train in the martial discipline of Highland Piping. This is all representative of the end of Britains Empire.

  • Do you guys know the title of music started at 5:18?

  • What a sad day. Although I am Spaniard, I felt that was a sore sign of Europe's decline.

  • @pinquifrustri It's not a sign of Europe's decline, it's a sign of how European powers should return what they have stolen from other nations.

  • @1JesseW What about Tibet? What about the criminal pressure on Taiwan? What about the repression on the Uigurs? Besides, the overwhelming majority of Hong Kong and Macau's people wanted things to stay as they were. They enjoyed the best of the two world, East and West. Had they been consulted, they would have voted against the handover to China.

  • Comment removed

  • @1JesseW Tibet always part of China? The Communists invaded Tibet in 1949, putting its independence to an end. Actually, the legitimate Chinese Government lays in Taiwan. On the other hand, you're right; the British defeated the Chinese and were ceded Hong Kong in 1841. BUT, in 1997, the overwhelming majority of Hong Koners wanted things to stay as they were.

  • Comment removed

  • @pinquifrustri True about majority of HKgers wanted things to stay as they were but majority of mainlanders Chinese wanted HK to return cos British stolen Hong Kong long ago in an illegal war and wanted all back!

Deng agreed and told Mrs Thatcher to sign new treaty after a meeting and she agreed handed over HK to China, cancelling out treaty of Nanking!

  • I am proud to be Chinese(ethnic-wise for our great culture, heritage, and civilization), announce I'm from Hong Kong, but I will always sore miss the days of the British rule.

  • A very dignified way to switch off the lights on the Empire methinks

  • After comeback Mainland,Hongkong become more and more worst.

  • COMMUNIST CHINESE ARE EVILS

POOR CHINESE LIVING UNDER A TYRANNY

    FXXXKING CHINESE ARE EVIL

    HILTER SHOULD HAVE FIXED THEM

  • 三軍樂隊?何來三軍?

  • thats how to play the pipes!

  • BEST SHOW ******

    GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

GOD FINISH THE EVIL CHINESE EMPIRE*****

  • @PatAttack1000 No problem - peace out.

  • I mean that before 1997(British colonial era) the government of HK was controled by UK.(for example, the Governor-General must be British, although most of the Hong Kongers are Chinese)

After 1997,the government is controled by Hong Konger themselves(Election, that is the freedom never got from UK).Now the Chief Executive of HK is Chinese(Hong Konger),and he got the support of HK people.

    --------

although HK is intertional, never forget that HK is a chinese city, the government should be chinese.

  • @daveduvw Chief Executive is not picked by Hong Kongers themselves - they were handpicked by Chinese government rather than direct elected by Hong Kongers themselves. They were elected by mostly pro-Beijing supporters not ordinary people then appointed by President of China - The President have power to sack chief executive.

  • @DavBlc7

Now Chief Executive is elected by about 800 Hong Kongers, and in 2017 will be direct elected by all Hong Kongers.

    Never (direct) handpicked by Beijing.

  • @daveduvw ....day dreaming......

  • @PatAttack1000 I got a life. You're welcome to fuck me, but I don't know if you can get it up with that small dick of yours!

  • 香港走下坡的第一天.

    英國人懂把餅做大 (例如另HK繁榮)

    中國人只懂把餅吃了 (例如放人來港拿福利, 減少大陸的負擔)

Hong Kong's sunset begun on that day.

British understand how to make the pie bigger (for example, Let HK to be a top city in Asia)

Chinese people only know how to eat the bread (for example, to release a lot of mainland people to HK, to reduce the burden on the mainland)

  • 它是一個殖民地,中國香港特別行政區聯合王國長最後被釋放白人統治的本質。滿足了壓迫的殖民統治,雖然很短,既抗議不白的中國繪畫頭上那的敬禮明白 !

  • Fuck you BRITISH PUSSY DICK FACE MOTHER FUCKERS

  • @jia2001 ...Shame u ching ching...We'll screw u nicely .....beggar

  • @jia2001 .......Shut up U pig.....gO AND KILL YOURSELF LIKE YR fucking brothers

    yr motherland is shit

  • The Hong Kong fall to the Fake China-- a empire with the communism

  • @hkbus2007 But you have no choice but to respect Chinese rule cos Chinese law forbids any indepence bids. 1984 treaty prevents us Brits returning too. The PLA have orders to put down any uprisings if it happens in the future though as long as there are no uprising the PLA will keep out of HK's streets.

Britain wishes to make friends with Chinese for good reasons like trades so we had no choice but to keep out of HK.

  • @DavBlc7 ...chinese men are women.....look at north africa.....most chinese have DNA problems

  • @daveduvw (Your comment translated into English for me to read) - Well, as you say Hong Kongers are British but actually they are not all. They have many different countries's passports - They have also had ROC (Taiwan) passports rather than having PROC passports, only a few have PROC passports.

They have not only British passport but also US, German, French or even Irish passports - I think the second majority below British have Canadian passports. I think HK a international city!

  • do the British know how to march or what........

  • 手佑心膀 永遠怀念港英政府

  • @kziwen

  • what is this song called in 0:49

  • Finally, Let's have a "al lang syne". Be good friends

  • Finally, let us have a "al lang syne"

  • British Tattoo is very special culture. I like the bagpipes, Drums, mass Band. Scottish the Brave, Black Bear are also my favour. I respect them. I will come back Edinburgh and see the tattoo sometimes.

Being a former British citizen - "God save our Queen - Our gracious and Noble Queen".

However, I also love my city and country - China. I can also sing China National Song. Country, County and home thinking will never change from place to place and even on myself. Thank you for reading.

  • Hong Kong is now a Multi-Cultures, races international city. We need to absorb and accept other races and their cultures.

We should learn other's advantages, not rejecting them. Races between anybody get nothing good.

I respect some British Cultures, I studied in UK. I saw British both good and bad sides and so do in HK. No more races by inferior group in UK, no more "Qi-Ki" to me pls. "Qi" Dynasty was over for 100 years.

HK ppl should be nice and respect others, make us pround.

  • Hong Kong hand over is a big day. Ode to Joy is fine. British had finished her historical mission. We can't say british get no contribution on us. British Laws (Former Roman Laws) has brought us laws and orders, stability and prosperity. These're their legacy to us and our foundation towards a sucessful city.

No British, no today's HK. However, HK is still Chinese Territory. Back to Motherland is undoubted, mate. No need to be sad. British will be remembered and they're part of our History.

  • That's cause you rely on European whitey to save your ass instead of looking to your own people.

Go home Brits, the party's over!!!!!

If you miss the Brits, yo ass been colonized too long!

  • Such A Sad Day . . :( For Some Reason , It Was Tragic To Hear The Massed Bands & Pipes & Drum Cops Playing Ode To Joy At The End . This Day Was Not For Joy , But The Day The People Of Hong Kong Lost One Of The Most Special Cultures, Traditions, Governments In This World .

  • We, the Hong Kongers save the Queen, but the Queen didn't save any of us at all...

(i wonder what was her majesty doing at this, most tragic moment for 97....)

  • 英國是不是快伊斯蘭化了?

  • DAMN....THAT WAS LONG STORIES!

  • what is the title of the song in 1:00-2:02?

  • Dvorak: Symphony No.9 - 4th movement

  • @Anthonysokw I also request the title before! Cos very touching!!!!

  • @PSD888

WRONG, THE NT WAS ON LEASE ONLY, BUT HKI AND KOWLOON WERE BRITISH SOIL. NT WAS THE BIGGEST TERRRTORY OF HONG KONG, ALTHOUGH!

  • @PSD888

I like your country and culture! Actually, I wish American stayed British! America was invented by the British! If it wasn't for the British, there would be no America!

  • @PSD888

WELL, NOW YOU ARE ALL WASHED UP!

  • @PSD888

In many ways, I told you, you just seem to live in a world of denial. I can't help if you continue to behaviour like this. similar to an addict who does not want and refuses help.

  • @Apachecatdog

YEAH, THE CHINESE SPIES BRAINWASHED YOU TO HATE YOUR OWN RACE. THIS IS WHY I CALLED YOU HITLER!

  • @britainmal Where did I say that I hated the white race? You are being assumptive again.

  • Ever since the handover to China Hong Kong has been getting more and more of it's freedoms taken away. Under British rule Hong Kong was prosperous and free unlike the unfortunate rest of mainland China.

  • @balthasarEF I am British and would like you to tell me how "free" HK was under UK rule. Thanks.

  • @PSD888

YES, THE BRITISH ARE NOT PERFECT YOU KNOW THAT YOURSELF FROM HISTORY, BUT OVERALL THEY HELPED HONG KONG. YES, SOME HK PEOPLE FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS BUT BLAME THE RICH HK CHINESE FOR THAT NOT THE BRITISH!

  • @PSD888

HONG KONG CHINESE WERE ALWAYS CHINESE CITIZENS THAT SO-CALLED BRITISH PASSPORT THEY HAD WAS ONLY A TRAVEL DOCUMENT. READ THE LAST GOVERVOR OF HONG KONG BY CHRIS PATTEN AND OTHER NON-BIASED HISTORY BOOKS.

  • @PSD888

    maybe so!

  • @PSD888

Chris patten sources were from the horse's mouth the uk foreign office and chris patten press officer plus numerous non-baused books. The Portuguesse gave the Macau people citizenship! you should worry about the british territotories denying uk citizens access to the british oversess terrtitoires like virgin islands and bermuda. at least americans can work freely in the us virgin islands.

  • @PSD888

HEY LISTEN BLOKEY, STOP THROWING HISTORICAL EVENTS THAT DO NOT JUSTIFY YOUR CAUSE AND PRETENDING THEY DO BECAUSE THEY BLOODY DON'T. MOST PEOPLE IN HONG KONG WERE PROUD THE BIRITISH COLONIZED HONG KONG EXCEPT THE MAO COCKKSUCKERS. THE BRITISH DID BAD THING BUT THE GOOD OUTWEIGHS THE BAD. I KNOW THE TRUTH HURTS BUT YOU NEED TO ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON, DUDE!

  • @PSD888

THE CHINESE WERE ONCE BACKWARDS AND DRUG ADDICTS, NOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED. THE WORLD WAS ALSO UNDISCOVERED VACK THEN AND IT WAS A DIFFERENT WORLD AND A DIFFERENT WAS OF THINKING, SO WAKE UP AND SMELL REALITY.

  • @PSD888

WELL, I AGREE WITH YOU THERE BUT DO YOU REALLY THINK THE BRITISH WOULD WANT TO BE RULED BY THE NATIVES. SEE YOU DON'T FUCKIN UNDERSTAND THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT WORLD AND TIME BACK THEN.

  • @PSD888

You mean you said what I said finally. IT TOOK A BLOODY TIME, BUT YOU FINALLY AGREED TO MY POINT! THANK YOU!

  • @PSD888

listen DUDE, THE BRITISH WERE THE OBSERVES AND COURT OF FINAL ADJUDICATION AND THE CHINESE RAN THE AFFAIRS, UNDERSTAND BLOKE. AS I STATED BEFORE THE WHAT THE BRITISH DID BACK THEN WAS WRONG IN TODAY'S STANDARDS' BUT BACK THEN IT WAS JUSTIFIED.

  • Brit >>>>>>>>>>>> china

if it wasn't for the brits, do you think hong kong would be what it is now? It'd be a shitty fishing village if we remained in chinese hands. Our livelihood is getting poorer and poorer everyday eversince the handover to china

  • @felnaris Has HK's GDP not risen since the handover?

  • @PSD888

He is a british Traitor! Go to bllody North Korea Mr . PSD888!

  • @britainmal Sorry but, did anyone invite you to make a comment on my question? I I know that you are American and therefor think that you have a divine right, on that basis, to interfere in other people's affairs and business but, this has nothing to do with you! Also, North Korea, no thanks! Why North Korea anyway?

  • @PSD888

You are stripped of your British citizenship, You are know a British subject due to your remarks!

  • @britainmal Huh? I am stripped of my British Citizenship? How can you do that? Wow, the UK Government must have forgot to send me my notification that I have now been stripped of my UK Citizenship! Hahahahahahha! School playground comments...keep it up, you are such a joke!

  • @PSD888

Don't compare Hong Kong and Greece

  • @britainmal You obviously did not read the previous two comments!

  • MR. PSD888 is a British Traitor!

  • CHRIS PATTEN, THE LAST GOVERNOR OF HONG KONG AND THE FATHER OF HONG KONG DEMOCRACY. GOD SAVE THE CHRIS PATTEN AND GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

  • @britainmal Why do you love my country so much? And what right do you have to say "God Save the Queen"?

  • @PSD888

Due to Mao and communism ,they could not introduce democracy. Chris Patten, did and he had people in White Hale and Beijing stab them in the back. You have not given your bloody sources so, don't tell me about a lawyer being disbared. In your logic , Americans would still be British then since all the revolutionaries came from bloody England. Were the British wrong to colonize and steal Native North American Land!

  • @asdf9jkl LOL, I am British and I think that you are a joke!

  • @PSD888 You have a right to say that, as this is between the British and the Chinese and no one else. I would like to sincerely ask, why in your opinion am I a "joke"? I appreciate your views on this matter!

  • @PSD888

I AM GLAD YOU VOTED CONSERVATIVE. KUDOS TO YOU! THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS AND BERMUDA GIVES NO RIGHT OF ABODE TO UK NON-ISLANDERS, WHICH SOUNDS LIKE A LAW ENACTED BY A PEROSN WHO SUFFERS FROM WHITE GUILT SYNDROME LIKE YOURSELF, WHEN IT IS BRITISH SOIL!

  • @PSD888

The British tend to be liberals even the so-called conversatives are really liberals.

  • @HK256 Fuck England? What about the UK? You missed the UK out!

  • @stephentsang2000 I find it kind of funny for you to call someone a "chink" when your surname is "Tsang"! LOL!

  • @alvindurochermtl What about the Hong Kong-Kowloon Brigade of the Eight River Column? and the KMT Army on the boundary with HK mounting daily guerrilla incursions into HK against the Japanese?

  • Comment removed

  • @PSD888 @PSD888 Go speak with real Chinese veterans in HK and they would tell you both the KMT Army and the left-leaning East River guerrilla were too busy fighting each other for larger political gains than saving HK. There's a documented case where the guerilla kidnapped a British agent in HK during the war for ransom. In the end the Brits had to give them a large sum which was originally allocated for food for mainland civilians. These were for all purposes bandits. Don't be so naive.

  • @stephentsang2000 LOL! God bless the Queen? You are not even British so why are you saying that?

I am British so I can safely say, "God SAVE the Queen"!

  • @Meadic First of all, don't even bother calling me Chinese this and that when I say this because I am British but, I would like to know who taught you your English? Because I must say that it is deplorable!

  • @PSD888

You are a fake british bloke. I am right and you are just rambling rublish. You suffer from white guilt Syndrome. You think white People are evil and the minorities should get an advantage over white people. You are ruining British society. You also a racist against paks and indians. Are you in the BNP?

  • @britainmal I am fake British?

I am not the American whom was claiming to be British and then later admitted that she was not.

When did I ever say that white people are evil? I am white for god sake, and when did I say that minorities should have advantages over whites?

You keep blaming me for ruining many societies? Am I really that powerful? LOL!

  • @PSD888

If you were in office you would! You suffer from white Gult Syndrome. I know you liberals in British do not know this. Go move to the British Virgin Islands!

  • @britainmal In what way am I a liberal and also, why move to the British Virgin Islands? A rather odd place to tell someone to move to! And what difference would it make whether or not I was in some form of political office as to whether or not I suffered from so-called "White Guilt Syndrome"?

Given the fact that during the last local and general UK elections, I voted for two conservative based political parties (UK Independence Party and the CONSERVATIVE PARTY), how am I a liberal?

  • @britainmal what do you mean by "liberals in british do not know this" ("liberals in british"...lol)?

  • @britainmal And there you go contradicting yourself again?

Why would I join the BNP if I thought that white people were evil? Would I not have to think the opposite to join the BNP? Also, you said that I think minorities should have advantages over white people and then you are saying that I hate two non-white groups? That really does not make sense!

You are fake British! Stop claiming to be British!

  • @PSD888

You are right, You are a liberal.

  • @PSD888

I did not say anything about Hong Kong Citizenship in my remarks, I said HK residency. The Chinese were drug addicts long before british sailed there. The UK did great for Hong Kong. GET THAT THOUGH YOUR BLOODY FUCKIN HEAD!

  • @britainmal But, did you or did you not say that HK has no citizenship, and then in your last comment say that they did? And, what is your response to me proving that your "they were always Chinese citizens" was crap?

Can you give me one shred of reference, such as a book or website or anything else for that matter to say that the Chinese were drug addicts BEFORE the EIC sailed there?

  • @britainmal Also, you acknowledged, several statements ago, the fact that the majority of HK's population (The working-class) did not benefit and only the middle and upper classes did benefit from colonial rule so, in light of your own previous statement, how can you say the HK (Which implies the city as a whole!) benefited from UK occupation?

  • @britainmal Is it not the excuse of every invading nation throughout modern history, that their justifications were liberation in some form or another?

  • @britainmal Also, out of everything that you have said, you have failed to back it up with verifiable text, reference notes, names, dates, times and places. If you were a Solicitor (Lawyer), you would be debarred are laughed out of court.

Hey, everyone, I am a BNP member that loves Chinese people, hates white people, want non-white rule over whites and hate South Asians...LOL! You are clutching at straws now, that is what people do when they get all personal!

  • @PSD888

Yes, The british made mistakes as I said before, and they did discriminate against the Chinese in the begaining and there was racism. Don't forget that the Chinese in Hong Kong were very backwards at the time, blame Mao. As the years progessed Hong Kong was built into a rich society through the Britsih helping the Chinese advance in society.

  • @britainmal "Don't forget that the Chinese in Hong Kong were very backwards at the time, blame Mao"? Why should I blame Mao? Mao was not even born when the British first sailed to HK or even around the times of the TWO Opium Wars so, how can he be responsible for the Chinese apparently being backward? It really makes no sense!

Have you ever been to HK working-class areas?

  • @PSD888

My sources are from the horses mouth, Chris Patten and the foreign and Commonwealth Office. They should have given the Hong Kong Chinese UK citizenship just like the Portuguese did to Macau.

  • @britainmal Can you tell me which documents they are? Quote the references please! That is if you really did see such documents. Also, because you apparently read it from Chris Patten's words/mouth, does that make his words infallible? That is Kim Jung Il mentality!

Any, why should we have allowed them all to have UK citizenship?

  • @britainmal Right, the Portuguese did give Portuguese citizenship to Chinese in Macao but, in spite of this fact read the statistics, more people in Macao hold Chinese citizenship than Portuguese citizenship.

Anyway, this debate is about HK not Macao.

  • @britainmal Did you know that in the early 90's the British Government did grant certain Chinese people in HK society British citizenship on a means tested basis? This basically means that most people in HK society (Working-Class Chinese) were not eligible because basically, they were too poor and worthless to the UK Government (As they were for 156 years in the eyes of the UK Government) as to hold UK citizenship. Is this not extremely elitist?

  • @Deuszxable

So go live the fuck in China then

  • @PSD888

That loves to suck chinese cock!

  • @britainmal It is a widely accepted notion that people whom resort to personal insults in debates are doing so because they have lost all argument and are backed into a corner and have nothing else to say.

You seem to be so mature and intelligent, you must be going to an Ivy League University, are you? LOL! That was sarcasm by the way!

  • @PSD888

    Fuck the Ivy League University!

  • @PSD888

Oh shut up, I know I am right and you are wrong. You are a hard headed limey!

  • @britainmal Oh, so you are right are you? Can you verify any of the historical claims that you have made on here? Even when asked, you can not! Prove me wrong, racist girl!

"Limey", so you are now discriminating against the Briitish?

"Limey", ooooooooooo, I want to cry that an American with an identity crisis has called me "Limey", oh shit, I do not know what I want to do now, my life is ruined...LOL! Grow up!

  • Hong Kong should be ruled by Japanese.

    All Hail Japanese Emperor !

  • @muaythai1982 LOL!

  • @PSD888

I know, you think the British are these evil people that stole Hong Kong and violated Hong Kong people's human rights. The British are worse than the North Koreans. This is what my PSD888. His head and dick too buried in Chinese arse and pussy to realize how wrong he is. I am not personally upset at your inaccurate remarks. I don't personally attack anybody, but I will set you straight. Yes, I know Chris Patten is not in the Democratic Party. He was with Marget Thacther.

  • @britainmal You did say that Patten was a member of the Democratic Party, read back your comments. Thanks!

  • @PSD888

there is bloody concept called chinese jobs like when the chinese wanted the jobs in hong kong over the british, which is wrong because , HONG KONG WAS BRITISH SOIL AT THE TIME!

  • @PSD888

In fact blokey, The British Government was wrong to kiss Chinese arse and Chris Patten did not stand for this. In fact there were people in the British Cabinet who were stabing Chris Patten in the back, but he stated his ground. CHRIS PATTEN IS HONG KONG'S FATHER IN DEMOCRACY. HONG KONG NATIONAL SONG SHOULD BE GOD SAVE CHRIS PATTEN.

  • @muaythai1982 for what? So HK will have to change Chief Executives once every 3 months like they way you change Prime Ministers in Japan?

  • @PSD888

No, You are wrong. Hong Kong was acquired legally. The drug trade was a problem from private citizens not the british Government. Yes, The british ran Hong Kong , but the local chinese made and enforced the regulations.

  • @britainmal If the local Chinese made and enforced the regulations, why were the first Hong Kong Police members made up of British Marines? and why did the Chinese in HK have a seperate Police force for Western District? I.e the "District Watch Force"???

Were all of the Commissioners for the law enforcement agencies, from 1841-1997, British? Yes! They were!

  • @PSD888

Yes, in the begaining they did because the bloody chinese were dirty and stupid at the time. So the british had to teach them. As the years came they ran themselves the chinese with the british watching over.

  • @britainmal Every law enforcement Commissioner, from the Police and Customs to the ICAC, right the way throughout Colonial occupation (1841-1997) were all British, as were the heads of the Security Department and the Governor and Adjutant of Hong Kong. So, given this information, how could they have controlled lw enforcement in HK.

The first HK Police officers were British Royal Marines but, they also had Chinese members.

  • @PSD888

    What is your point!

  • @britainmal Because you said that the British controlled law enforcement in Hong Kong when, clearly, they did not!

  • @britainmal There is a book called "Watching Over Hong Kong" written by a British lady, on behalf of the ROYAL Asiatic Society (Of which one of the British Royals is Patron), which stated that the creation of the "District Watch Force" was due to a desire of the Chinese wanting to handle their own affairs and, the British endorsed this because they wanted to distance themselves from the local Chinese community as much as feasibly possible. This is tantamount to segregation.

  • @PSD888

That wasn't segregation. They just wanted thechinese to run there own affiars!

  • @britainmal So, let's hypothetically say that you are right, does that mean because the British wanted them to manage their own affairs that British influence never really touched the Chinese and so therefor, Hong Kong's success is not down to solely the British. Also, the apparent British cultural influence on the Chinese must have never existed if the Chinese ran their own affairs!

Read the book, it clearly states a degree of prejudice existed in the creation of the District Watch Force.

  • @britainmal Do you even know who Lin Zexu is?

Sounds like you do not because that answer has nothing to do with the question!

  • @PSD888

A chinese bloke who hated opium. so what one person.

  • @britainmal Actually, he was the head Magistrate in Guangdong at the time immediately before the Opium Wars had begun. He burned the opium on imperial edict, because the Government knew the harm that this drug could do. It could be seen, plain as day, on China's streets.

Anyway, this shows that Qing law at the time was not all just talk, this is an example of enforcement. Although, I do agree with you that largely the Qing were corrupt.

  • @britainmal Not a problem of the British Government? Even when they were operating under Royal Charter? Even when they provided troops in the OPIUM Wars? Even when they were actively involved in the quality control of OPIUM?

Which laws in HK were enacted by the local Chinese during these times? I would love to know exactly which ones they were! Come on, "educate me". Yeah, Hong Kong was acquired legally, I never disputed that, what I said was that the UK Govt acquired it in an immoral manner!

  • @britainmal Anyway, I don't get your logic. How can the Chinese make the laws if the British ran HK? and vice versa.

  • @PSD888

Democratic Party was formed because China was going to take over Hong Kong.

  • @PSD888

They were private companies don't blame britain, blame the Indians before India was British.

  • @britainmal Private companies under a British Royal Charter which was further endorsed by the creation of the "British Opium Department". The British East India Company had presidencies in India since the BEIC was given a Royal Charter to operate in 1600. This was long before the international opium trade took off with any great significance! If you are going to blame the Indians, are you going to go even further and blame the Greeks for discovering opium's narcotic value?

  • @PSD888

The Democratic Party was started because of the Chinese take over. I know they are not communist.

  • @britainmal Wrong! The Democratic Party was started as an amalgamation of already exisiting parties in 1994. Even the Democratic Party supported a return to Chinese rule and they are the highest advocates of their variety of democracy in Hong Kong.

  • @PSD888

They were a amalgamation of other parties, but there main purpose of existance was Democracy for Hong Kong under Chinese rule. In fact orginally they were against Hong kong being run by Beijing, stop listening to chinese progaanda. Why is it that the hong kong chinese in british hate britiain, if you don't like it go back to China. The real hong kong chinese who live in Hong kong love Britain

  • @britainmal Actually, if you check the Democratic Party website, it gives a detailed account of their current and past aims and policies. Eventual return to Chinese sovereignty was one of them (This was before 1997)! So unless the Democratic Party are now being run by Beijing and writing their website for them, I suggest you look at their past policies.

Go back to China? I am British, I am 100% white European! Can you read? I have already told you this many times!

  • @PSD888

I knnow the democratic Party wanted the return to china, but at one time they did not. As Chris Patten, Go to Bloody cambridge and ask him. In fact if they did not change their policy they would have not been in office now.

  • @britainmal Who mentioned Chris Patten?

Chris Patten was a member of the British Conservative Party, not a member of Hong Kong's Democratic Party.

Check the Democratic Party website, it clearly shows in black and white as to what their aims were from their establishment up until now. So, until you check it, you can not accurately comment on it. From the outset they supported restoration of Chinese sovereignty over HK.

P.S, Chris Patten was at Oxford not "bloody" Cambridge! LOL!

  • @PSD888

I know, he is not in the democratic Party, than you for correcting me on Chris Patten!

    "britainmal

Yeah, I know ;they hated the British." "britainmal

    1 day ago @PSD888

I was just joking with you. That is nonsense, they did not like British rule."

You see? You wrote those, one minute you are saying that the Hong Kong Chinese loved us then you are saying they did not and now you are saying that they do! Please, stick to your views! What is it to be?

  • @britainmal I appreciate that and also, you must realise that this debate is not personal against you, it is just a debate on a subject which I am passionate about. So, please, do not take it personally! I prefer to debate in a light hearted way, even when the other side/sides are throwing personal insults at me. I just like to keep a cool head!

    Toodles!

  • @PSD888

I am not attack you or have any predidice againbst you. I am just debating you with a little humour because you do not make any sense and are hard headed person.

  • @britainmal What have I said that does not make sense? Can I please have SPECIFIC examples, as I have given specific examples to you on the parts which do not make any sense to me or the ones which may seem a little contradictory.

  • @PSD888

I was only joking with you when I said the Chinese hated the Brtish!

  • @britainmal Anyway, what does that mean? "Why is it that the hong kong chinese in british hate britiain"???

Are you even British? This sounds a lot like "Chinglish".

  • @PSD888

Well, now in Hong Kong there is a lot of racism against non-chinese. Some jobs in Hong Kong are not open to non-chinese, that is racism.

  • @britainmal Of course, why should Non-Chinese people get Chinese jobs? Chinese should come first in their own land! If there is a job in which it is impossible to fill with local people, then foreigners should be recruited in that position based on merit.

There has always been racism in Hong Kong, always, if not by the established institutions then by people from all groups in Hong Kong, Chinese, British and Indians included.

  • @PSD888

The UK legally took over Hong Kong. In fact Hong Kong island and Kowloon were cede over to the British forever. The New Territories were given to Britain for 99 years. So there is no such concept as Chinese Jobs. If you think that you are a typical Asian racist. Yes, there was racism and the Hong Kong Chinese are continuing it, while the British have ended it.

  • @britainmal How can I be a typical Asian racist if I am not Asian? Deeerrrrrrr! I am European!

If the British had eneded racism in HK, how can it be continuing? By your theory, racism should have gone on the 30th June 1997!

Since the British Government could not sustain HKI and KLN without the NT (Hence their justification for the 99 year lease), HKI and KLN were unofficially put on a de facto lease, as everyone knew HKI and KLN could not be sustianed beyond that 99 year lease.

  • @PSD888

Okay, Yes, you are right about that. You seem to write like an Asian racist that is why. I did not say the British ended racism in Hong Kong. Most governements in the world are racist except in Europe and America.
