@liukin95 yeah, we're also not elite gymnasts. We don't claim to be able to do any of it. But it should be done a certain way, especially by someone as well-trained as Mustafina. At her level, she should be able to twist properly.

@liukin95 its not like i'm saying "i can do a triple twist better than her!" because i can't. but the fact still remains that she is an elite gymnast and at her level, she should be able to do these twists without crossed legs. not to mention that it just looks sloppy with her crossed legs.

@uncchristine99 yes she shows more passion here than Komova did at 2011 WC..Komova just had better spirits at the Youth Olympics in 2010..I really think Komova was just overwhelmed and tired at the 2011 WC.

@uncchristine99 Totally agree, which is why I like her so much. She seems to be give it her all and the intensity in her eyes is awesome to see. Komova does look like she is bored. Like you could see how bored and tired she looked especially in her FX at worlds.

Her 3.5 is mind blowing, the fact that she can control the landing so well. So many people complain about her form on her strait body twists but no body mentions how well she controls the power on her landings and nails the landings every single time. She also makes her twists all the way around and doesn't land way off from where she started.

Without the extra 'a' though at the beginning it seems like Uh-lee-uh would be closer to correct. I know a Russian girl named Ulyana and that is Oo-lee-ahn-uh due to the Russian A's sounding more like Americans would say "uh"

SEVEN: 2 1/2 (D) + Front 1/1 (C) .2 CV. EIGHT: Triple full (E). FEEDEECC = 3.6 + 2.5 + .4 = 6.5. This is a dream routine for a reason. The front tuck and Gomez turn are unlikely. Without them, this routine would be of a 6.1 difficulty.

Wow, she's an awesome gymnast. Not sure about her personality, but I guess when you're competing at such a high level, I guess confidence is key. I think Russia is going to make a comeback for these Olympics. I'd be very surprised if they didn't medal at all.

@davies375 If you slow it down, you can see her hands touch the floor before her feet do so it is a fall. Therefore she would lose the barani, the CV and the requirement to have a combination pass. The judges did not take these deductions.

I realize that she is probably the most competitive and best ranked gymnast right now but I would be terrified of saying that for fear that I'd get too cocky in my performance and make a stupid mistake. From the untrained eye it looks like that is exactly what happened. Remember Aliya, there is always someone willing to work twice as hard for half the price. NOTHING is certain.
