I watched the BBC Drama on Youtube and I loved it so much that I bought the DVD. BBC did a great work, however, I read the book and there is so much in ... between Miss Hale and Mr Thornton, and she is more snob ... then Daniela Indeed ... love it both.
It's accurate to the book though. Mr and Mrs Hale aren't very close in temperament and Margaret knows best how to bring her mother around to new ideas.
Thank you! I especially like the second scene because it shows a bit of (very realistic!) class pride in Mrs Hale.
I wish there had been an entire fifth episode - there's so much in the book that had to be cut, and there's way too little of Thornton and Margaret together.
I too wish there were more scenes with Thornton and Margaret together-to depict different phases of their relationship...
As to the book-I wish they made the scene after Thornton´s had come to Higgins´s house to offer him a job and he met Margaret there and also he addressed her later in the street.
You're right, when I was watching that scene I was waiting for the conversation between Margaret and Thornton, too!
But still, I really think this is the best literature movie I've seen in a long time, maybe the best I ever saw, both in terms of getting the time right and in making the right changes while staying true to the book. And I'm usually awfully nitpicky!
the only thing I'm not happy with is the ending: I liked the book scene, with the "that woman!" ending better.

Yes, I know it is accurate to the book. But that part really makes me cry, I still think he should have spoken to his wife.

Was there not a deleted scene in between Mr. Hale saying he wanted to go back to Oxford and leaving? It always seemed like an awkward jump.
