@ohso41 i also think Setzer is way better than Page, well Setzer is less " like Slash-Page show off" and he has a better sound whitin using a lot of pedals that's true technique.
The big difference between Page and Setzer is that Page was a huge influence on what would come later in popular rock music.
And what's always with that "good sound with less pedals = more talent" thinking a lot of people have? Making good use of effects is a talent of it's own and Setzer is mostly playing 50's style music and in the 50's they didn't have many effects. Only the amp reverb and a tape echo was available.
Amazing video w/ da catz! lee Rocker sings the fuck outa this song. Knew he was fucking excellent (w/slim jim) on back-up vocz, but..................god-damn......nectar version!
The rawness of guts of this version is awesome. But there are 2 main reasons why I like the version on the first BSO album better. 1 - Brian's vocals are WAY better than Rocker's. 2 - Brian's guitar solo on the BSO version is one of the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard in my life. Sure, the soloing he does here is ballsy and, well, GERAT!, but the solo I'm talking about in the BSO version is like the Mona Lisa of guitar solos! :)
i was at that gig at redcar bowl aswell eckankarpaul !!!! probably the best band ive ever seen !!! my heros & never thought they wud play there !! blew the amps when they came on to baby blue eyes!!! chris from saltburn!!!!
I saw him live about 20 years ago at redcar cotham bowl, and i came out 10 foot off the ground,,how the hell does he play such great guitar with them strings?
I have to say something...don't normaly. I first saw B Setzer with the Stray Cats on their first tour across US at the Uptown Theatre in KC, MO. It was the best night of my life! Since then seen him 5 more times w/ Cats, with BSO - Christmas show spectular, '68 Comeback Special - met him, he took his time and talked with us. A true USA musical legend!
Check out Eddie Cochran's Eddies Blues - he was way ahead of his time in the 1950's and quite obviously a big influence on Brian. Eddie Cochran was only 21 when he died.
Nope, it was definitely the Lyceum in 1981. I was so happy, so fit to burst that night, the first time I saw them. Hearing them perform live was out of this world. They were so young, so full of energy. Good times.

This was the first 45 I owned by The Stray Cats. I've since collected a couple of 12" 45's through the years as well. One of my favorite songs by them, but I never saw them play it live. Great video!
had a tattoo of the stray cat drinkin that bottle down which was on the cover of the single stray cat strut (this was the b side) 24 years later it still sounds good love it, cheers.
It's actually their original (written by Setzer/Rocker/Phantom), which was released on B-side of the Stray Cat Strut EP. Just one of many great songs written by the Cats!! BSO's version is also good :)
Probably Setzer's finest moment. This song was always a great showcase for his awesome guitar playing. Jazz, rockabilly, swing -- in one solo! And through three vintage Bandmaster amps!

@Bo2099 Watch Led Zep at the Albert Hall, Page uses hardly any pedals, mostly switching between pickups and a violin bow
