lol because they come with camber and caster adjustable a arms, and an adjustable axle, and four piston front calipers, steel braded brakes lines, hydraulic clutch, fully adjustable ohlins shocks, the most powerful production engine in the sport, anti vibe stem, adjustable bar mounts, tether kill switch, and the best stock exhaust on the market? and thats only some of the features this thing has. to build another quad the same, you'd end up with a 16k+ machine. what a waste

i have not had any problems with mine yet and never heard any problems with them but yes after market parts are more money but that is the price u pay for the best machine! and the parts are not hard to find cuz you can go to ur local dealer and buy them there!

heres a good tip for all you boys who own one of these machines. polaris outlaw 525 and the ktm 525xc have the same motors so yah. but anyways the 525 ktm motor only has one overhead cam. came deal as the honda crf series. and if uve ever ownded one. vavles are ur number one priority. valve and cam servicing is manditory once a season. do that and these motors are bullet proof. i work for polaris so this isnt bull shit.

Hey, i just bought a ktm 525 xc and the guy i got it from said he just put a big bore kit in it and i've never ridden or even heard one run before and it makes a loud rattling sound like it's knocking and he said it was normal that that's how they sound. did i get screwed?

it all depends. if its brand new and never broken in, a new top end has a tendency to make a small knock in spite of the rings not being set in. but if its like a solid knock near the top or lower end it would be good to get it checked out. do you have a vid of it running that i could see? thanks, luke

it sounds to me like a solid knock, but not sure. he said he just put in a 570 big bore kit and it only had about 13 hours on it. and i ran it hard before i bought it and since and it seems to have great power. don't have a vid. i'll see if i can make one. souns more like it's up on the top end. valves maybe? thanx, joe

well if its near the top end, and 13 hours is well broken in by now. if the valves were never set before the kit was installed then your best bet would be your valves. that extra combustion on standard valve settings would lead to working out your exhaust valve. valve check is only $40.00

haha at my local ktm dealer i ask him how much for the 08 ktm 450xc and he said $6,600 USD and he will throw in the racing kit $1,600 USD for free so me and my dad went halfs on it. thats how i got my new ktm 450xc. nice machine and i dont care what poeple say about it, it is the best and fastest stock quad out there and to build a ltr to compete with it itll be over $11k!

na to build a ltr450 to compete with this u just need shorter a-arms,new tires (maxxis tires) and a cherry bomb. the only reason u need shorter a-arms is so its the same width as the ktm.

these quads are really nice but just for people to lazy to do shit up themselves IMO. I mean sure it comes stock with some great parts but then again your paying for all of those parts with the steep price. Great bikes but I'd rather buy a 450r or ltr and customize it exactly how I want.

not to pop your imaginary world of fantasy, but the Lt-450r is slower then the ktm and if you want to customiz it its going to cost you way more then customizin the ktm, unless if you buy stolen parts, but beside that the ktm doesn't need big mod...but the Lt-450r would to catch up the the ktm acceleration and faster top speed reach

the ltr has a heavier frame and it has more on it. its fuel injected=more weight. im saying right now the ltr has been out a couple years so its got plenty of after market parts out for it. the ktm really doesnt have much yet its only been out 2 years. like my friend wanted to buy a dasa but all they offer is a slip on which is like the same price and doesnt add as much hp as the full system. if you buy a ktm ther isnt to much u need to get for it its already race oriented but 12,000 is to much
