It amazes me how many people pity Japan. I live in Hawaii and have seen actual footage of the bombing. My grandfather was a worker for Pearl Harbor and by chance on the day of the bomb, he was sick and did not go to work, thank god, otherwise I wouldn't be here. Many argue that Japan was justified since trade was blocked off, but to bomb someone just because your trade was blocked off (Japan led themselves to blocked trade), is just plain cruel. At least America used it for war.
civilians on NanKing probably wished they were simply evaporated by an atomic bomb, rather than suffer the torture and rape that lead to the death of 300,000
This sounds like a pitty japan video....let me let you in on a secret....They started it and we finished by saving thousands of American and jap lives if we had to invade so piss & moan all you want but they got what they had coming! Just ask the relatives of Pearl Harbor, in China Nan King, the Batan Death March! These fucks were not angels in this but these bombs sure took the wind out of the sails of the so called god they worshipped so much! NO PITTY HERE! Ask any Vet from the Pacific!
@MrBRITBRIGHT - Great... another retard whos logic is "murder hundred thousands of civilians to save few thousand soldiers" ...So you rather murder 500,000 civilians who did nothing, than war between soldiers who sign up for war to kill each other? You are simply complete moron.
@bittemeinrammstein Actually if you knew anything about the Pacific War we saved over two million japs lives and 1 million American Soldiers by dropping these bombs so I suggest you read and study up on history before you run you fucking mouth!
@bittemeinrammstein you will not prove him his point. He doesn't know that the Americans blocked trade and military routes for the Japanese via Perl Harbor, which partially forced the Japanese to bomb it. He doesn't know that atomic bomb was dropped more because of curiosity than from need, and later when the devastation was revealed the " we saved millions" idea was published. But none of that matters, If a man thinks it is OK to evaporate 100000 people and to leave 100000 more suffering...
@MrSmartComment Do you think it was okay for Japan to bomb us just because we blocked their trade and military routes. If you think the American's should go for the diplomatic route, then perhaps you should also tell Japan to do the same. Otherwise, its one bomb, for another bomb. I was born and raised in Hawaii and everyday I pass Pearl Harbor, I pray for the American soldiers and not to mention the civilian harbor workers who were killed that day. Many are still trapped in the ships.
The USS Indianapolis which delivered the bomb to Tinian was torpedoed by a Jap sub after delivery of the bomb . The crew abandoned ship under radio silence and 700 plus men were EATEN alive by SHARKS .
and you best fucking believe japan would of done the same thing to america if they had the technology to build the bomb all if forgotten now america and japan are great allies now
It was matter of time for weakened Japan to surrender after being subjected to a very effective naval blockage that choked the entire island of supplies and being bombarded by the most massive conventional firebombing campaign in military history.
The first bomb was dropped to end the war quickly before Russia got there. Not to save American lives.
The second bomb was grossly unneeded, and probably for experimental reasons.
It is amazing to me that so many people do not know actual history. Japan butchered more people during WWII than the Nazi's. They would not surrender and fought to the death. Estimates of American casualties were 500,000 to a million if we had to carry the fight onto the Japanese homeland. Thank God for the Atomic Bomb. Some of you are actually alive because the bomb was used.
these americans are the most cruelest nation in this world, they don't have heart, they just want to be the strongest no matter how, they kill the innocent people and claim others the terrorist,FUCK THEM THEY ARE THE TERRORIST BELIEVE ME!!
@ebadh23 fuck u man ur an uneducated fool for ur comment do u know how the japanese were back then they were fucking insane they fought to the death and they slaughtered more ppl that the nazis did u fucking ignorant asshole imagine the loss of life if we would not have dropped the bomb it would of been in the millions and thats bad and we are terrorist ok japan killed over 3000 inocent ppl at pearl harbor so get ur head out ur ass ur fucktard
you know what makes me sick. that the government never talks about the people who actually mutated cause of all the radiation from the bomb. there were people who grew arms cause of tht shit. such sick stuff
@WatchVidTK actually hiroshima more people were injured then killed the 9-11 terrorist attack was the worst cause over 500,000 people died anyone in the building when it callapsed was cruched or dead.
@TheKillaman981 ...still 500,000 people did not die in the 911 attacks. the casualties of Hiroshima was much more profound. regardless if the injury/death ratio was not as great
the japs deserved everything they got. they bombed us in pearl harbor and then they cry when we suprise them with litte boy and fat man, well thats war. every american who is saying aww poor japan should be ashamed of themselves because we were only finishing what japan started. USA USA USA.
@Rspsownage12 Don't be an ass man, show some sympathy. The Japs bombed pearl harbor, where most of our naval ships were to cripple our naval forces. The two atomic bombs dropped on them killed most if not all civilians. I'm ashamed of being an American because of the likes of you calling yourself Americans..
@Rspsownage12 What Hitler started dumb fuck, if Hitler never had started a war, then the UN would've just killed the ones with guns who kill and not innocent civilians.
@7uck123 You seem to forget that the topic of the bombs which is discussed here, was dropped on Japan, which started a war with the U.S. regardless of what Hitler did.
And when the bombs were dropped, there was no U.N.
And the U.N. never grew a set of balls to fight anyone anyway, unless it was the U.S. leading the way, such as Korea.
@7uck123 you say that "it's nice to kill off people you don't like", well let me tell you, It was the Japs who by sneak attack attacked us and it was North Korea who attacked South Korea. When you are attacked, you have every right to use any means to win that war. Dropping the Atomic Bombs on Japan was the right thing to do. As for North Korea, those fucking rice eaters deserve the government they have. Sooner or later the place will implode.
@hopeurforfreedom Okay, okay...I get your point and your reason. All I'm just trying to say is that no one deserves to die and get laughed at like the idiots who comment saying shit like "Haha that what you Japs deserve". Makes me wonder...
@7uck123 BTW, my dad was ripped right out of high school in April of 1945 to fight the Japs. By July he was busy shelling the initial landing site for the invasion of Japan, Kyushu Island aboard the Heavy Cruiser USS Boston, part of a 14" gun crew. Imagine yourself at 17 years of age 12 miles off the coast of the Empire of Japan with the threat of kamikaze and midget subs.
@7uck123 that would have been quite a transformation. One day you are in high school and busy with girls, trying to buy beer and playing sports. in two months you are sending 14" shells into the Empire of Japan, with your death a possibility at any time. Something to think about.....
did yew know that before the bombing of pearl harbor, the u.s had sent a message to japan saying that they were goin to stay out of the war... but japan replied and said "we find it pointless to keep having diplomatic negociations".. the u.s ddnt drop the atomic bomb because they wanted to show american dominance, they dropped it because they wanted to end war and have japan surrender
i know it's really sad and depressing to see all those people being hurt but i cant bow for japan. at the time of the bombing, the U.S had clearly stated that they wished to remain neutral during the war, but the Japanese ddnt care, and bombed Pearl Harbor. Japan attacked frst without warning... Clearly they wanted to show that they were a more dominant nation than the U.S...
I wonder how many of the people in Hiroshima cheered when they heard about the success the Japanese naval fleet had at Pearl Harbor? War sucks, the lesson here is dont start a fight then get mad when the guy you started the fight with kicks you in the balls, thats the risk you took when you started the fight.
I'm not American nor am I Japanese. How does one human wish such treacherous deeds against another? Both Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima were a tragedy, and God never forgets yet he forgives.
@BudaLux If Hiroshima were a tragedy, what do you think an invasion would have been like? Those bombs saved many, many more lives than they took away. War is about winning and the bombs ended the war in a matter of weeks, had they not been dropped countless lives would have been consumed. Think about that.
The Americans didn't have a choice if they didn't do what they did i can say with the uttermost confidence we would all be nazi's,if they didn't do what they did.
I'm just stating my opinion here. I don't feel any grudges against our new-found allies in the modern world. I just think that the a-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were simply cruel. It's one thing to bomb a military encampment, but a civilian city? Yeah, so who cares that they were the enemy? It does not justify the massacre of an entire city! Oh, and just in case you think I must be Japanese, no, I'm Canadian.
@blackjack85x you are from Italy and you call Americans ignorant? Any people who would follow mussolini shouldn't be calling Americans ignorant. Italy was basically a 3rd world country trying to fight WWII with WWI weapons. Now how stupid was that?
@hopeurforfreedom First of all I just moved to Italy in 2004 after I was raised in your country...2nd elementary all the way to my diploma...second Mussolini was before my time..so how teh hell whoul I have followed him?? tell me how stupid your comment is now...stupid
@hopeurforfreedom let me talk in "dumb" mode for ya...Only thing I took away from my being raised in America is the excellent education and sport discipline, as of morals and family values, and cherrishing the simple things in life I owe it all to Italy...don't take example from who leads this country , what should i say about Bush then ?? or Clinto with Lewinsky ( even if he was a fine prez)....think before you speak next time.
@hopeurforfreedom A fine man? one who did business with Bin Landes family to in oil when he was governor of Texas , a fine man? the governor who sent th emost people on death sentence in Texas, a fine man? the one who doenst even know how to speak correctly his own dasmn language, a fine man?? buahahahhaha! yeah you have said enough and confirmed my theory on your country...ciao ciao
@blackjack85x Bin Laden family? Lots of folks have done business with them, they are a huge corporation. People of Texas support the death penalty, as I do. As for speaking correctly, how about you spelling correctly. George Bush did a hell of a lot better job than that moron Obama is doing. George Bush is a fine man...
@hopeurforfreedom o yeah anotehr thing..for your Italy being a 3rd world country and all...I liked it better that way...progress just brings power hungry people who think they can control everything and everyone...I'll take old Italy any day..compared to any America..fat people..no morals..bad food ...and hipocrits....
@blackjack85x sorry, but I've been to Italy 5 times. Italian food is excellent, but you might try New York, the best food from all over the world. Morals? Since when have Italians had morals, look at the joke you have for a leader.
As my history teacher said "I'm glad we dropped the nuke or I would have not been born" or somewhere along those lines.
In all honesty Japan did not want to surrender, we would of had to invade them and cost ALOT more lives including civilian plus much much much more destruction of Japan in general, also now we know the destruction of these bombs. If we did not bomb Japan im sure us or Russia would of used it in the Cold War.
we had brutally beaten down Japan before we used the A-bomb. They still wouldn't surrender, after bringing us into WWII by attacking us without successful forewarning. We were very angry with them for wanting to prolong it even further because they were being assholes. I never considered it the decision of America to bomb them. They asked for it. fuck em.
@GPNflyman1 Yes I seriously thank Truman for dropping the bombs. If you are stupid enough to think an invasion and total destruction of Japan was better than ending it with these weapons than you need a brain overhaul. Japan was the enemy you moron, so yes, American lives were a hell of a lot more important. Truman was Commander-In-Chief and responsible for American kids who were ripped right out of their lives at home by the sneak attack at Pearl Harbor.
@hopeurforfreedom You are an idiot, honestly! USA was the only country to ever use hbombs against another nation, destroying innocent lives. Placing Jap-Usa citizens in camps, same mild treatment like Nazis, going against its own values that all men are created equal. Why face the enemy , just drop some nukes and everyone will be happy. Your screename is pathetic, US has been in more wars then anyone else! Freedom and friends are NOT achieved by war. I am sure u will retaliate with nonsense @ me
@hopeurforfreedom That is a pussy way to end the war by doing the unthinkable. I think Obama is stepping in the right direction, and undoing what Bush scarred in the face of the rest of the World.
@rob2049 I can't retaliate, you have to make sense first. The USA ended the war with 2 bombs, you nitwit. I suppose you would have rather invaded or you may even be the type that thinks we could have just sat down and chatted with the japs, cause' they really wanted to surrender all that time. You might want to check out who attacked who first. BTW, America has never used the h-bomb against anyone.
@hopeurforfreedom Actually, the whole reason the atomic bomb was dropped was to display the power of the US to the Russians. Also, japan would've surrender anyway because the US navy was blocking there OIL supplies. I want to mention that it took nearly a month after the bomb was dropped for the Japanese to surrender to the US. So most people will argue that Japan would've only surrender if they saw there resources drop 0. Atomic Bomb = Firebombing of innocent cities.
@thebigsmuz If you are such a dumb ass not to call Pearl Harbor a sneak attack, you are fucking nuts. Washington sent the message by Telegram, the telegram didn't get there in time. It was a sneak attack you idiot. Pearl had no idea it was coming. How fucking stupid are you?
@thebigsmuz You really believe the sneak attack was America's fault. That is funny.... Dumb ass, Washington didn't drop the ball, Western Union did, it sat on a desk, you fucking idiot. Anyway, how is the sneak attack America's fault? You really hate America, don't you.... Little prick.
@thebigsmuz Japan warned? Are you nuts? They didn't cross the Pacific in strict radio silence because they warned, they did it for a sneak attack. Get real. BTW, "saying America finally helped out"? It was a European war, America had no dog in the fight. We were attacked, then we were in the fight. Apparently you know little of WWI, another European war.
@thebigsmuz Listen good you little jap apologist. My dad was ripped right out of high school to fight in a war the Japs started with a sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. School was let out in early in april of 1945 so the boys could enlist for the coming invasion of Japan. My father served aboard the USS Boston. Within 2 months after getting out of high school he was part of a crew manning 12" guns, shelling the island of Kyushu, the initial landing site for the invasion.
@thebigsmuz The telegram did not say that PH was the point of attack, it only stated an impending attack, but that was already anticipated many months prior to the attack.
It was expected at the Philippine Islands (PI), which easily explains why the U.S. Army spent three months prior to the attack strengthening the PI.
PH was not expected to be attacked by the Jap's, it really made no sense because it offered nothing for Japan, and history has already proven what a blunder the attack was.
@thebigsmuz Kid, you are pretty much a dumb ass when it comes to WWII. Pearl was never warned, hence it was a surprise attack. America only knew an attack was imminent, not the time or place of attack. Fucking kid....
@thebigsmuz Dumb ass, google "whiney". Ever heard of a word that can be spelled two different ways, you moron. Go ahead, google it, then go to any of the dictionaries. Then feel real stupid.
@THUD086 Yes and no. While they were not officially at war yet, the US had long been engaged in political posturing, and had threatened Japan with war. "The attack was intended as a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from interfering with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia"...Thus, it was a military target. The a-bombs targeted civilians, with no warning, and was far more devastating. There's no justification for the annihilation of cities.
@thebigsmuz Gosh Damn, I read what you wrote THUD. You are a fucking Jap apologist.... "No justification for the annihilation (sic) of cities". Tell that to the Japs, who murdered over 15,000,000 civilians. You are a fucking history nut job.
@thebigsmuz Political posturing? What does that mean?
And we threatened Japan? How and when did we do that?
I say you're full of shit, but at least I'll give you the opportunity to prove me wrong.
And as far as "annihilating" a city goes, do you approve of the British planning and executing "Bomber" Harris' plan of "de-housing" German workers (civilians)?
@thebigsmuz So, the sneak attack was America's fault? Gosh damn you are stupid..... BTW, the Invasion was coming November 1st, you moron. You really need help with History.... Thank God for those Bombs...
the japs got what they deserved. they started the war, not us. what about our soldiers on the bataan death march, the rape of nanking? they showed no mercy. i do not feel sorry for these jerks. yes americans are better. we are a better nation. its spineless little wimps like these idiots that are destroying our nation. i am tired of americans apologizing for being a wonderful nation. God has blessed us for a reason. when you are dealing with a beast, treat em like one.
That's a god attitude, except that these people were civilian bystanders. They were no more involved at Nanjing or Bataan than you were. It would be like executing your family because 4 Marines raped a little girl in Okinawa a few years back. In a socialist dictatorship collective blame is a legitimate argument.
But it seems like a shame to waste perfectly good munitions on a civilian target when the military is the group that needs defeating.
@Hikikomori013 Honey, those civilians were yelling "BANZAI" everytime a Japanese victory was announced over public radio. They got what was coming to them!
Whereas our civilians always wept with sorrow when we won a battle? I think the rules of war allow non combatants to cheer for their troops without being targeted by the other side.
It's okay with me if you support the wholesale slaughter of innocent women and children; I just think it would be a nice novelty if we could all just honestly say what we believe in without pretending that murder is evil when they do it but wonderful when we do it.
@Hikikomori013 Hey dumb ass, the 2nd Army HQ, along with 40,000 soldiers under General Hata were in Hiroshima. We fried 20,000 of those soldiers. When you place your armed forces in populated areas, civilians will die. Also, too bad you weep for the japs, as the Jap military murdered over 15,000,000 civilians, where are your tears for those civilians, you fucking nip lover.
@hopeurforfreedom I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but name calling and abuse is not an intellectual argument.
We didn't bomb the 2nd Army Headquarters. In fact, people working in the town vegetable fields on the army base had a high survival rate. The closest government building was an elementary school, where all but one of the small children were killed.
The victims of the Japanese Army were a tragedy. The army acted in a despicable and evil manor; but these civilians were not the army.
@Hikikomori013 You deserve abuse when you cry for the japs who had every oportunity to surrender. You call the victims of the jap army a trajedy? The 2nd Army HQ was destroyed, along with 20,000 military hiding among the population. When you put your HQ inside a city, that city will be destroyed. Just tell us how you would have neded this war without dropping the bombs.......
Roosevelt was right to shelve that. We needed to fully defeat the army. The time to act was in May when the Counsellor of the Japanese Legation in Portugal send word that Japan was ready to cease hostilities providing the integrity of the home islands was assured. (CIA website archives) We had taken the Philippines and sunk the Yamato. We could have had the same final results without the American soldiers killed or wounded later.
@Hikikomori013 Japan was in no position to dictate any terms, which, in the end were very generous towards the japs. Japan was never generous to any country they attacked and overtook. They raped their women, absconded with the wealth of the country and turned people into slaves for Japan. We helped Japan become an economic power.....
@hopeurforfreedom That's right. Japan had lost, so they were in no position to demand; but we hadn't invaded the home islands so they could still ask. And since we didn't really want to invade if we could help it, we could have agreed to negotiate, saving thousands of American lives.
Then MacArthur went in and treated the Japanese with dignity and respect, winning the friendship of the nation to this day. He was a great man.
@Hikikomori013 If Japan had lost, why did they not surrender in the fashion they did after the second bomb? MacArthur was a great man. Our attempt at negotiation was called the Potsdam Declaration, Japan could have surrendered anytime but refused. BTW, why would America negotiate with a country who pulled a sneak attack and murdered over 15 million civilians throughout the Pacific? as for military deaths at Hiroshima, Japan kept military numbers secret.
@hopeurforfreedom Potsdam Declaration (July 26) was not a negotiation, it was a demand. Negotiation includes dialogue. Japan was trying to open a dialogue. The Emperor even contacted Stalin directly to attempt to mediate.
They were (and are) a parliamentary democracy. Getting consensus for any act is difficult, "Unconditional" makes it even more difficult. We knew they would fight over that word. That's probably why Truman insisted on it.
@Hikikomori013 Why would we negotiate? BTW, the Russians never told the Americans. The Japs could have surrendered at any time, like they did after the second bomb. The Nips should have accepted the Potsdam Declaration. The blood is on the hands of the emperor and his military leadership for failing to accept the terms of the Declaration.
@hopeurforfreedom Why negotiate? Because if we had a favorable end to the war in June, it would have saved thousands of American lives. Not to mention all the children who were killed. If they weren't negotiating in good faith we could always go back to bombing.
So why drop the bomb instead? 3 possibilities. Gratuitous humiliation of an already defeated enemy. Showing Russia what we had. Testing a new toy on an untouched city. Which one sounds like it was worth the soldiers' lives?
@Hikikomori013 Do you know Japan's negotiating points? Are you aware of them? Go look them up. Do you actually think we would accept them? Oh, we already tested the bomb, it worked. When Japan refused to surrender, what else could we do. They could have surrendered unconditionally at any time, like they did after the second bomb. You seem upset about the children, are you upset about the millions of non-jap kids japan's military murdered? I see no tears for them.
@hopeurforfreedom Japan wanted to handle the retreat to the home islands and dispose of their own internal issues. We always ask for too much to open negotiations and settle for less.
According to CIA archives, they had already indicated that retention of the home islands of Japan were the only non-negotiable points, and that calling it "unconditional" would make it difficult to push through the Diet. This was in May of 1945.
We had not tested the bomb against an actual city.
@Hikikomori013 In other words, Japan would not surrender unconditionally, you made my point. There was no negotiating to be had, Japan either surrendered unconditionally or kaboooom. Japan could have surrendered at any time.
@hopeurforfreedom You just made the point that there is nothing wrong with deliberately killing civilians, even small children, if we get whatever whim we want. Is that what you meant to say?
Then what about the American soldiers? We were handed the chance to call a cease fire, sit down at the end of May and work out a peace by mid-June that got us everything we wanted except the word "Unconditional". Was that one word so precious that those American soldiers had to die for it?
@Hikikomori013 Where did I say ther was nothing wrong with killing women and children? Show me. There is plenty wrong with it. You might take that up with the Japs themselves. However, we were gonna end the war asap. It worked. Fewer japs died by these bombs than would have died in the opening days of the invasion at Kyushu. A Cease-Fire? Are you on drugs? I don't think you deal with reality.
By May Japan had already offered almost everything we got at the end, and we could have had the rest by allowing them the chance to bow out gracefully. What did we buy with those dead Americans? The chance to humiliate Japan? MacArthur took that away by his behavior. The chance to show Russia how powerful our new weapon was? The chance to test it on an occupied and unbombed city to see how much damage it would do? What did we get with those extra American lives?
@hopeurforfreedom The death of any innocent is a sad thing. Wars frequently spill over to the innocent by accident. That's understandable. I've already condemned the deliberate killing of innocent civilians on all sides. I don't distinguish between innocents based on their race or the language they speak.
I know it's as hard for you as it was for me. It doesn't fit your preconceptions or match what Rush said. But i had to accept the facts.
How about Americans who died after we refused to talk?
@Hikikomori013 Rush? Now you are showing your leftist colors. Leftists often begin with that crap, but usually they rant about FOX News. Why Rush instead of FOX? BTW, You might want to check into the preparations Japan was making for the upcoming American Invasion before you get this idea they were ready to surrender. America demanded unconditional surrender, we got it. You didn't get anything, Japan got what we allowed it to keep. For this Japan should be eternally grateful to MacArthur.
@hopeurforfreedom The part about how we could have had everything we wanted by mid June by sitting down with Japan and allowing them to bow out of the war with some political cover, thereby saving thousands of American soldiers who were killed or wounded in June and July.
Since "surrender" was already pretty well in the bag, which part of "unconditional" was worth those extra American lives.
@Hikikomori013 In no way would we have sat down with Japan for negotiations. Apparently you don't understand how evil the leadership of Japan was. 15,000,000 million civilians dead and you want us to negotiate with such people? Personally, i would have hung Hirohito on television if it were available then. Fortunately cooler heads than mine prevailed. The japs were darn lucky they had MacArthur. He was one helluva' man.
@Hikikomori013 Japan could have surrendered at any time, they didn't until after the second bomb. Almost surrendering and kinda' wanting to surrender isn't surrendering. It was Japan that kept the war going, not America, we ended it.
@hopeurforfreedom The correct term was "Trying to negotiate a surrender". We had nothing to lose. If we got the terms we wanted we could have saved the lives of thousands of American soldiers. If we didn't we could go back to toasting all the civilian population centers your heart could desire.
All it could have cost us was the word "unconditional". What was so valuable about that one word that it was worth all those lives?
@Hikikomori013 BTW, if Japan was already defeated, why did they continue fighting? The Atomic Bomb was not toy, as you claim. Japan should have surrendered if they were defeated. Seems they had no problem surrendering after the second bomb. Explain to me why they could surrender after the second bomb and not before.
@hopeurforfreedom They had plenty of problems surrendering after the second bomb. Fortunately, while the Emperor was only a figurehead, he still had enough influence to tip the balance. Parliaments get messy.
They could have surrendered by June if we had let them negotiate with us. It took 6 days after Nagasaki to come to an agreement and relay a message to the US. There were only 3 days between the bombs, so the conflict between time and bureaucracy is one problem.
@hopeurforfreedom The civilians of Hiroshima had no opportunity to surrender. They had no political or military power.
We could have demanded a cease fire in return for negotiating Japan's surrender. They started sending out feelers by January of 1945. Here's an archive quote the Chicago Tribune has on their website: "Release of censorship restrictions in the United States makes it possible to announce that Japan's first peace bid was relayed to the White House seven months ago." (8-19-1945)
@Hikikomori013 It was estimated 40,000 jap soldiers were stationed in Hiroshima, the military estimated 1/2 of them perished in the blast and they are not listed in most figure counts.
I just read your other post. Do you not realize this war was a fight to the death? A cease fire? Get real. We had already announced we demanded unconditional surrender.... Leaving the jap hierarchy in power would have been stupid. It was our decision how this war ended, not Japans.
And the fact that the Japanese army was committing war crimes does not make it morally right to commit an act which has been internationally recognized as a war crime since 1474 when Peter von Hagenbach was executed for attacking civilians.
Japan already knew it was defeated and was trying to open negotiations to surrender by late May. We could have ended the war by June and had everything we wanted except one.
We wanted to humiliate Japan more than to defeat them.
@BillyBlues34 They shelled that island for over a month, night and day, with the threat of kamikaze and midget subs. They continued the shelling until Japan surrendered. My fathers life was probably saved because of the Atomic Bombs, his life was a helluva' lot more important than the enemy who attacked America. Quit the mealy mouth whining and grow the fuck up. You are free because of kids like my dad who were man enough to fight. You are fucking pathetic.
A robot murderer. You lack the capacity to understand. You can only do as you're told. Hey, how about this? Why don't try to talk shit about my Brazilian people LOL Unlike yours you may have a hard time finding something that is really as fucked up as all the dumb shit your country does but I'll name a few. We have the hottest women, one of the best weather, most men have an above average dick (7+), we are the best at the biggest sport in the world SOCCER! Swallow that, murderer
it was not, germany and italy already surrended, then truman dont have any target so he ignored orders and "tested" the bomb on innocent people...you americans are the cancer of the world
America is a sorry excuse for a country, a degarding country as well. Lead by a corrupt government, that was behind Pearl Harbor and Also behind 9/11. The United States Government cut off all trade routes to Japan, which was an act of embargo (An act of War) forcing Japan to defend themselves and attack Pearl Harbor, the government knew it was coming and warned nobody. They setup 911 so we could fight the 'war on terror' what terror? whats happened while were in the middle east? NOTHING.Fuck USA
@SuperJohnrc Ehh, I'd say the whole firebombing of tokyo was enough. Its kinda funny how people glamorize these 2 bombs when a lot more people were killed from us carpet bombing the shit out of Tokyo with conventional bombs just because it wasnt one big kaboom
@GPNflyman1 I thank Truman for ending the war and reducing the number of deaths on both sides. Truman was Commander-In-Chief, yes he was responsible for the America's young men at war. An invasion, scheduled for November 1st, 1945, would have cost the lives of millions. Are you saying the war should have continued?
@GPNflyman1 American lives weren't only saved in this but Japanese lives were too you melodramatic douche. We dropped flyers over both hiroshima and nagasaki informing them that the cities were going to be leveled but the emperor wouldn't let them evacuate. Why do you think we dropped 2 bombs? They wouldn't even surrender after the first one. Do you think if we went hopping from island to island fighting them on the ground that less lives would've been lost? Stop whining

MrBRITBRIGHT 4 months ago 3
@MrBRITBRIGHT - Great... another retard whos logic is "murder hundred thousands of civilians to save few thousand soldiers" ...So you rather murder 500,000 civilians who did nothing, than war between soldiers who sign up for war to kill each other? You are simply complete moron.
bittemeinrammstein 4 months ago
@bittemeinrammstein Actually if you knew anything about the Pacific War we saved over two million japs lives and 1 million American Soldiers by dropping these bombs so I suggest you read and study up on history before you run you fucking mouth!
MrBRITBRIGHT 4 months ago
@bittemeinrammstein you will not prove him his point. He doesn't know that the Americans blocked trade and military routes for the Japanese via Perl Harbor, which partially forced the Japanese to bomb it. He doesn't know that atomic bomb was dropped more because of curiosity than from need, and later when the devastation was revealed the " we saved millions" idea was published. But none of that matters, If a man thinks it is OK to evaporate 100000 people and to leave 100000 more suffering...
MrSmartComment 4 months ago
@MrSmartComment Do you think it was okay for Japan to bomb us just because we blocked their trade and military routes. If you think the American's should go for the diplomatic route, then perhaps you should also tell Japan to do the same. Otherwise, its one bomb, for another bomb. I was born and raised in Hawaii and everyday I pass Pearl Harbor, I pray for the American soldiers and not to mention the civilian harbor workers who were killed that day. Many are still trapped in the ships.

and you best fucking believe japan would of done the same thing to america if they had the technology to build the bomb all if forgotten now america and japan are great allies now
bigboy14100 6 months ago 4
It was matter of time for weakened Japan to surrender after being subjected to a very effective naval blockage that choked the entire island of supplies and being bombarded by the most massive conventional firebombing campaign in military history.
The first bomb was dropped to end the war quickly before Russia got there. Not to save American lives.
The second bomb was grossly unneeded, and probably for experimental reasons.
rubenj141 6 months ago
It is amazing to me that so many people do not know actual history. Japan butchered more people during WWII than the Nazi's. They would not surrender and fought to the death. Estimates of American casualties were 500,000 to a million if we had to carry the fight onto the Japanese homeland. Thank God for the Atomic Bomb. Some of you are actually alive because the bomb was used.

I wonder how many of the people in Hiroshima cheered when they heard about the success the Japanese naval fleet had at Pearl Harbor? @rob2049 I can't retaliate, you have to make sense first. The USA ended the war with 2 bombs, you nitwit. I suppose you would have rather invaded or you may even be the type that thinks we could have just sat down and chatted with the japs, cause' they really wanted to surrender all that time. You might want to check out who attacked who first. BTW, America has never used the h-bomb against anyone.
hopeurforfreedom 10 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Actually, the whole reason the atomic bomb was dropped was to display the power of the US to the Russians. Also, japan would've surrender anyway because the US navy was blocking there OIL supplies. I want to mention that it took nearly a month after the bomb was dropped for the Japanese to surrender to the US. So most people will argue that Japan would've only surrender if they saw there resources drop 0. Atomic Bomb = Firebombing of innocent cities.

@thebigsmuz From the mind of a retard we get, "That being said, the attack at Pearl Harbour was on a military target during war-time".
Ah dummy, the U.S. was not at war with anyone on December 11, 1941. We were not Japan's foe, or anyone elses.
There is no justification for the attack on Pearl Harbor.
THUD086 10 months ago
@THUD086 Actually the comment should read December 7, 1941. The war against Japan wasn't declared until December 11, 1941.
THUD086 10 months ago
@THUD086 Yes and no. While they were not officially at war yet, the US had long been engaged in political posturing, and had threatened Japan with war. "The attack was intended as a preventive action in order to keep the U.S. Pacific Fleet from interfering with military actions the Empire of Japan was planning in Southeast Asia"...Thus, it was a military target. The a-bombs targeted civilians, with no warning, and was far more devastating. There's no justification for the annihilation of cities.
thebigsmuz 10 months ago
@thebigsmuz Gosh Damn, I read what you wrote THUD. You are a fucking Jap apologist.... "No justification for the annihilation (sic) of cities". Tell that to the Japs, who murdered over 15,000,000 civilians. You are a fucking history nut job.

BillyBlues34 11 months ago 3
@BillyBlues34
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Honey, those civilians were yelling "BANZAI" everytime a Japanese victory was announced over public radio. They got what was coming to them!
skudaarkaat1 11 months ago
@skudaarkaat1
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Hey dumb ass, the 2nd Army HQ, along with 40,000 soldiers under General Hata were in Hiroshima. We fried 20,000 of those soldiers. When you place your armed forces in populated areas, civilians will die. Also, too bad you weep for the japs, as the Jap military murdered over 15,000,000 civilians, where are your tears for those civilians, you fucking nip lover.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, but name calling and abuse is not an intellectual argument.
We didn't bomb the 2nd Army Headquarters. In fact, people working in the town vegetable fields on the army base had a high survival rate. The closest government building was an elementary school, where all but one of the small children were killed.
The victims of the Japanese Army were a tragedy. The army acted in a despicable and evil manor; but these civilians were not the army.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 You deserve abuse when you cry for the japs who had every oportunity to surrender. You call the victims of the jap army a trajedy? The 2nd Army HQ was destroyed, along with 20,000 military hiding among the population. When you put your HQ inside a city, that city will be destroyed. Just tell us how you would have neded this war without dropping the bombs.......
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom excuuuuse me, the word is "ended" instead of "neded".
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom (Yes, I recognized the typo. I make them myself)
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Japan was in no position to dictate any terms, which, in the end were very generous towards the japs. Japan was never generous to any country they attacked and overtook. They raped their women, absconded with the wealth of the country and turned people into slaves for Japan. We helped Japan become an economic power.....
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom That's right. Japan had lost, so they were in no position to demand; but we hadn't invaded the home islands so they could still ask. And since we didn't really want to invade if we could help it, we could have agreed to negotiate, saving thousands of American lives.
Then MacArthur went in and treated the Japanese with dignity and respect, winning the friendship of the nation to this day. He was a great man.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago

20,000 is a guess?Too bad.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Why would we negotiate? BTW, the Russians never told the Americans. The Japs could have surrendered at any time, like they did after the second bomb. The Nips should have accepted the Potsdam Declaration. The blood is on the hands of the emperor and his military leadership for failing to accept the terms of the Declaration.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Why negotiate? Because if we had a favorable end to the war in June, it would have saved thousands of American lives. Not to mention all the children who were killed. If they weren't negotiating in good faith we could always go back to bombing.
So why drop the bomb instead? 3 possibilities. Gratuitous humiliation of an already defeated enemy. Showing Russia what we had. Testing a new toy on an untouched city. Which one sounds like it was worth the soldiers' lives?
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Do you know Japan's negotiating points? Are you aware of them? Go look them up. Do you actually think we would accept them? Oh, we already tested the bomb, it worked. When Japan refused to surrender, what else could we do. They could have surrendered unconditionally at any time, like they did after the second bomb. You seem upset about the children, are you upset about the millions of non-jap kids japan's military murdered? I see no tears for them.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom Japan wanted to handle the retreat to the home islands and dispose of their own internal issues. We always ask for too much to open negotiations and settle for less.
According to CIA archives, they had already indicated that retention of the home islands of Japan were the only non-negotiable points, and that calling it "unconditional" would make it difficult to push through the Diet. This was in May of 1945.
We had not tested the bomb against an actual city.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 In other words, Japan would not surrender unconditionally, you made my point. There was no negotiating to be had, Japan either surrendered unconditionally or kaboooom. Japan could have surrendered at any time.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom You just made the point that there is nothing wrong with deliberately killing civilians, even small children, if we get whatever whim we want. Is that what you meant to say?
Then what about the American soldiers? We were handed the chance to call a cease fire, sit down at the end of May and work out a peace by mid-June that got us everything we wanted except the word "Unconditional". Was that one word so precious that those American soldiers had to die for it?
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Where did I say ther was nothing wrong with killing women and children? Show me. There is plenty wrong with it. You might take that up with the Japs themselves. However, we were gonna end the war asap. It worked. Fewer japs died by these bombs than would have died in the opening days of the invasion at Kyushu. A Cease-Fire? Are you on drugs? I don't think you deal with reality.

@hopeurforfreedom
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The death of any innocent is a sad thing. Wars frequently spill over to the innocent by accident. That's understandable. I've already condemned the deliberate killing of innocent civilians on all sides. I don't distinguish between innocents based on their race or the language they speak.
I know it's as hard for you as it was for me. It doesn't fit your preconceptions or match what Rush said. But i had to accept the facts.
How about Americans who died after we refused to talk?
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Rush? Now you are showing your leftist colors. Leftists often begin with that crap, but usually they rant about FOX News. Why Rush instead of FOX? BTW, You might want to check into the preparations Japan was making for the upcoming American Invasion before you get this idea they were ready to surrender. America demanded unconditional surrender, we got it. You didn't get anything, Japan got what we allowed it to keep. For this Japan should be eternally grateful to MacArthur.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 What part of "Unconditional Surrender" do you not understand.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The part about how we could have had everything we wanted by mid June by sitting down with Japan and allowing them to bow out of the war with some political cover, thereby saving thousands of American soldiers who were killed or wounded in June and July.
Since "surrender" was already pretty well in the bag, which part of "unconditional" was worth those extra American lives.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 In no way would we have sat down with Japan for negotiations. Apparently you don't understand how evil the leadership of Japan was. 15,000,000 million civilians dead and you want us to negotiate with such people? Personally, i would have hung Hirohito on television if it were available then. Fortunately cooler heads than mine prevailed. The japs were darn lucky they had MacArthur. He was one helluva' man.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 Japan could have surrendered at any time, they didn't until after the second bomb. Almost surrendering and kinda' wanting to surrender isn't surrendering. It was Japan that kept the war going, not America, we ended it.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The correct term was "Trying to negotiate a surrender". We had nothing to lose. If we got the terms we wanted we could have saved the lives of thousands of American soldiers. If we didn't we could go back to toasting all the civilian population centers your heart could desire.
All it could have cost us was the word "unconditional". What was so valuable about that one word that it was worth all those lives?
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 BTW, if Japan was already defeated, why did they continue fighting? The Atomic Bomb was not toy, as you claim. Japan should have surrendered if they were defeated. Seems they had no problem surrendering after the second bomb. Explain to me why they could surrender after the second bomb and not before.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom They had plenty of problems surrendering after the second bomb. Fortunately, while the Emperor was only a figurehead, he still had enough influence to tip the balance. Parliaments get messy.
They could have surrendered by June if we had let them negotiate with us. It took 6 days after Nagasaki to come to an agreement and relay a message to the US. There were only 3 days between the bombs, so the conflict between time and bureaucracy is one problem.
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom The civilians of Hiroshima had no opportunity to surrender. They had no political or military power.
We could have demanded a cease fire in return for negotiating Japan's surrender. They started sending out feelers by January of 1945. Here's an archive quote the Chicago Tribune has on their website: "Release of censorship restrictions in the United States makes it possible to announce that Japan's first peace bid was relayed to the White House seven months ago." (8-19-1945)
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@Hikikomori013 It was estimated 40,000 jap soldiers were stationed in Hiroshima, the military estimated 1/2 of them perished in the blast and they are not listed in most figure counts.
I just read your other post. Do you not realize this war was a fight to the death? A cease fire? Get real. We had already announced we demanded unconditional surrender.... Leaving the jap hierarchy in power would have been stupid. It was our decision how this war ended, not Japans.
hopeurforfreedom 11 months ago
@hopeurforfreedom
Hikikomori013 11 months ago
@BillyBlues34 They shelled that island for over a month, night and day, with the threat of kamikaze and midget subs. They continued the shelling until Japan surrendered. My fathers life was probably saved because of the Atomic Bombs, his life was a helluva' lot more important than the enemy who attacked America. Quit the mealy mouth whining and grow the fuck up. You are free because of kids like my dad who were man enough to fight. You are fucking pathetic.

Are you saying the war should have continued?
hopeurforfreedom 1 year ago
@GPNflyman1 American lives weren't only saved in this but Japanese lives were too you melodramatic douche. We dropped flyers over both hiroshima and nagasaki informing them that the cities were going to be leveled but the emperor wouldn't let them evacuate. Why do you think we dropped 2 bombs? They wouldn't even surrender after the first one. Do you think if we went hopping from island to island fighting them on the ground that less lives would've been lost? Stop whining
TheGhostOfHumanLogic 1 year ago
they dropped it because the japanese stated that they wouldnt surrender.
