  • Naww....the little fox is just using his or her sense of taste with teeth included to explore

this part of a person. Not real biting.

  • These animals are not suitable as pets and should not be kept as suck in my personal opinion, like so many others.

  • "Hmm, the food comes from YOU, maybe you are made of FOOD!"

  • Om nom nom nom- *spook* nom nom nom nom.

  • it looked like "come play with me" bites, my oriental cat use to do that when she was a kitten (still does it sometimes). lol

  • I'm pretty sure that training one of those foxes not to bite is probably about the same as training a dog, you gotta give it some discipline.

  • @JAT763 I think it's just testing him to see if he's friend or foe. He probably just got them.

  • @Skittywolf ive heard with puppys maybe the same for foxes, but when they bite, put bitter apple in their mouth.

  • Ugh, will you people give it a rest? Every kind of animal we keep as a pet had to be domesticated at some point. Are you against having dogs, cats, rats, hamsters, ferrets, etc as pets? If you want to make a difference, do something about the people that beat their animals, or people that neglect them.

  • Cute lil foxie. He's trying but he just can't do it.

  • can you take these out for walks?

  • oh there so cute where do you buy a fox like that

  • he wants to play!

  • 0:46 is funny; it's like he is waiting for your reaction after he bites

  • how many foxes do u have

  • small rooms, no nature, no sunlight... exactly what these animals need I guess?

  • These animals belong in the wild, not in someones house.

  • @harwicke guess that becomes a matter of opinion since according to the law they are perfectly fine as house pets

  • @harwicke you know somthing you think that, but do you understand in the wild every kind of fox gets killed, people kills them for fur, so its really good when someone like her wants to give one of these babies a home a safe home, am buying one ive done sent the money for mine, and he is gonna get to do everything he wants, am gonna buy him everything, so before you say somthing like they shouldn't be in someones house think about all the ones in the wild that are getting killed for fur,

  • @horsegirl8862 Just get a fucking dog or a cat. There are millions of them that need a home.

  • @harwicke They dont need homes, The only ones that need homes are the ones that grew up in homes and never been outside. Animals are tougher then you think, yes its nice to have a home. But if you grew up on the streets you dont want to be encaged by a house. How do you think dogs and cats survived before we domesticated them? im not being mean, i love cats and dogs and other animals. But i dont think every single one of them needs a home.

  • @argonzeit dogs have been tamed to the extent that they need us. they are too "humanized" behaviourally to be allowed to roam wild. they, unlike their true wild cousins, have little to no fear of man & would be terrible for man-eating in large packs. cats have NOT been tamed. merely domesticised (kind of nit-picking, but it stands) & are still in tune with their wild nature enough to do quite well without human interference.

  • @pfalky2k I will say that most breeds of dogs are dependent on humans, but those were bred to be dependent. But there are dogs that dont need a human interactions at all.

  • @argonzeit aye. they're called wolves, coyotes, jackals, african hunting dogs, dingoes....

  • @pfalky2k i meant domestic dogs >< theres only a few breeds that would beable to take care of themselves without humans.

  • @harwicke while i feel that foxes are too close to the wild to make good pets fo any but the MOST fundamentalist fox-lovers, this IS how we domesticated cats & dogs. plus, WHO THE FUCK ARE YOU TO BARK ORDERS?! YOU NEED TO CHILL THE FUCK OUT! not very nice being spoke to like that, eh? maybe you'll mind your place next time. perhaps this persons animal-keeping taents are best with foxes. as are mine with cats. as some folk are with dogs, or rodents/horses/pigs etc etc etc.

  • @pfalky2k Why do you feel the need to use language like that? It says a lot about you. Creep.

  • @harwicke the same was once true of dogs & cats. rabbits? rats? mice? the other rodent species? we may be witnessing a new domestication process. i regularly feed wild foxes in winter to help them through the lean season (& keep them off my cats. a starving fox will try for a cat. a well fed one will stick to less risky prey) as long as the fox kits aren't poached from the wild, no harm, no foul.

  • om nom nom nom. hes adorable!

  • The people who breed these animals are making a fortune from the exotic nature of the animal. That is why it is being done. These animals do not look at all happy in their "safe" new confined environment. Same goes for caging Amazon parrots. Some birds will pick out all their feathers from the stress and boredom of losing their freedom. Many animals die while being shipped from the stress. There are YouTube clips about it.

  • @cellochick56

So tell me, what exactly does a happy animal look like? Do they smile and laugh? or run around playing... I've seen many captive fennec foxes running around playing with each other, that looks pretty happy to me.

Don't pretend to understand animals that grew up in captivity. I can understand a parrot that was captured in the wild and having its freedom taken away, but Fennec foxes are bred in captivity, so as long as you take them on walks or runs to play outside, they're fine

  • These foxes are not meant to be captive...domesticated. I feel so sorry for them that they will never know the desert from which they came and freedom.

  • @cellochick56 - Yes, poor foxes. They will never know periods of famine or have to flee for their lives from predators, or endure flash floods or extreme temps, or the shorter life span that comes with living in the wild. These pets are really suffering with a loving human companion to feed and shelter them.

  • @rocketcitymama Poor little guys =(

I wish I could live in the wild, fearing for my life every day. Have a life span of 5-7 years, instead of my domesticated 10-20 years.

  • @cellochick56 yeah but when there in a home like this they want ever get killed for fur either, so its really good that people are wanting to give these beauties a home, i cant wait till i get mine,

  • @horsegirl8862 you don't owe any people on here any explanation. as long as your fox isn't poached out of the wild. as long as you don't get a kit that has been seized after some murdering scum in need of gassing shoots it's mother to steal it. perhaps it is the fox's time for domestication. as it once was the dog's time, & the cat's, etc. as long as you recall that it is still part wild & will have challenging behaviour it can't help & don't punish it for your choices.

  • i got a tiger for a pet shes fridnley attacks strangers dont kill she scares liven turd out of them tho

  • Carefully, she will bite off your meat right away, like wild foxes do

  • No they can't actually bite that hard

  • snap in to a slim jim

  • He's/She's trying to get you too play XD

  • where did you get them and how much did they cost because iv been wanting to get one

  • i seen them for $2000 at my local pet store

  • i think some1 needs to get this fennec fox a dictionary... obviously its taken the term "ankle bitter" too seriously.

  • it's like ahhh! i want to bite you so friggin bad but i cant fit my mouth around your fat leg! xD

  • the eyes are so cute im just screaming in glee at how adorable it is. people look at me weird in my house when i scream "aww!" at a video lolz XD

  • its like play with me danm it

  • At 0:09, she's/he's like, "The fuck?"

  • all it wanted to do was get ur attention and play with it :3

  • I think if it really wanted to bite, it would have. My dog play bites all the time, I'm not worried about it killing me in my sleep.

  • mmm leg lol

  • lol

  • dude that thing could eat u when u are sleeping

  • ya but that is instinct cuz if any animal is locked in ur house they will eat to survive

  • for sora2love

  • My cat acts like that. She's really affectionate, so while i'm going to sleep, or just in bed, she'll lay on me and keep trying to get me to pet her, she tries to bite my jaw, and chin. or if she gets on my back, she'll lick my neck and bite my ears, and I have to make seizure movements to get her off. and she loves to lick and bite my hands, but she purrs the whole time. maybe it's the same deal with the fox? my cat in finnicky too. make a sudden move and she freaks out...

  • my grandma had a badger

    they are wild

she acted like a dog though

  • Nothing like domestication!

  • ya no doubt

  • it loks like a big piece of fresh meat and he definitely is trying to get a piece of that i can bet u if u would die in sleep they would eat u up

  • Seems to be freightend easialy.. weird... =D

  • Fennec: *munch munch munch* That's some good knee.

  • If it was playing, it wouldn't test-bite and scurry away. You are made of meat.

  • That's actually kind of a scary thought, a fenec fox actually wanting to eat the owner? I hope they have those things locked up before they go to sleep. >_>

  • A fox won't eat you... my cat's and even my friends hamster bites but hamsters don't let go :(

  • If you think hampsters are painful you should see what my parakeet did to my finger.

  • Bwahahaha!

Ouch! lol I once had to look after a Crow and i stuck my finger through the bars of it's cage (what a stupid thing to do) lol

  • Bwahaha! Ouch! lol

I did once get bitten by a crow but parakeets have curved beaks ouch lol

  • Just imagine if a baby was around. I bet it would love the soft spot.

  • My brother has a baby and a dog and they play together just fine.

I myself have had the company of a dog since I was born.

People that can't raise their pets properly can't put them together with baby's and are the dumbass.

Sure a fennec is a wild animal but a responsible parent can keep it safe from the fennec also.

A matter of brains, a watchfull eye and not being stupid enough to leave them together when you know the pet can't stand baby's/children or the child is to rough.

  • That's the truth! If you're stupid enough to buy a pet that you think might be dangerous your kids why be stupid enough to buy it?

  • pets protect the baby

  • Believe it or not that's true nightfoxx26, dos are very protective of babies until they grow up, then they just want to play.

  • i know my uncles dog will protect his baby and if u sit beside the baby the dog sits inbetween the baby and u and if u rough house the dog will shake his leg like crazy and will whine till u stop.

  • He wants to eat you.

  • damn! u cant kep a secret from that nomnom!

  • it looks like it nibbling playfuly not biting that cute. my cat does the same thing

  • Fennec thinks you has a flavor. :u

  • thta must feel fluffy XD

  • Omnom!

  • Aww I think he/she wants to play!

  • i think that dont hurts.

    looks cute!

  • I want to be bited by a Fennec

  • Wow. Somebody that takes the expression "Bite Me!" literally!

    ;)

  • that's how my ferret bites XD it's lick lick lick...nip...nip...RIP! XD

  • They really are such timid creatures

  • you can have those for pets???? wow never knew that

  • I cowered when he bite you...but it doesn't hurt?

why was he nibbling on you?

  • it doesnt look like it hurt's it's just like little nip's my cat once tore open my eyelid by accident i was on my bed and he jumped up and didn't know i was there and his back nail ripped my eyelid as he jumped it's healed completly now though! almost no scarring now!

  • Oh god that must've hurt like hell! The worst my cat ever did to me was tear open my hand. Hurt like hell, but fortunately it was only my left hand.

  • hee hee that sounds painful!

that has happened to me before today!

(my cats are adopted ferel cats)

  • woaw, i'd love 1 of them, live in britain tho, u can get anyfin these days i suppose lol

  • omg that thing is so freaking cute what a cool pet!

  • he must envision your leg as a big, juicy piece of bacon

  • Haha. xD

My cat does that! He likes to randomly come up to me and bite a few times, then run off if I move or talk.

  • It's so curious. I was wondering if they are good with cats?

  • usually, yes fennecs just want to play with some1 i would worry more about the cat how they act around them XD but we're getting a fennec (and maybe a cat)

  • Lucky :D

  • yea im excited ^^

  • cute kyuubis ^^

  • whoaaaa.... those are some huge ears if i had ears like that id be an elephant without a trunk :D

  • Your foxes are very adorible ^_^

I'm saving money to buy a kit next spring from a breeder in North Dakota. I'm assuming they're play bitting, because they sure didn't seem to be upset. Just little skittish

  • can i has a leg?

  • Title: "Fennec fox that bites"

  • It's legal in most states, you can get a permit. Plus, didn't we domesticate other animals like, say, kitty cats? Is that wrong too?

  • you do have a point

  • Looks like a tame animal to me.

  • Fennec Foxes are legal to have as a pet.

  • Why do spastics like You have access to the internet? It's not right!

  • That was at Beargirl btw... =D

  • how do u get one of these ?? there so cute

  • Are those things legal to have, cause they don't look domestic... more like they should be in the wild not indoors...

  • So.... does your leg taste good or something? Or is it just the fox's way of getting your attention?

  • its kinda like my cat sept he bites my ankle and doesnt let go it hurts :(

  • what is he so afraid of? you or something else?

  • where does 1 go about purchasing such a creature..... I want 1.........

  • You shouldn't be able to buy one of these, it's an exotic animal aka 'wild' and and should be left as such. Is also illegal in many places to own exotic animals. So do the poor guys a favor and leave them where they are supposed to be, go buy a cat or something.

  • yes they are cute but the are wild animals .... duh... domestication took 20-30K years to weed out natural tendencies that were... unacceptable... if you bring a desert fox into your home expect problems no matter how big their ears are and how cute they are - poor lil critter should be eating bugs in the Sahara...

  • fuck off already ive seen this exact post by you like 50 times.

  • that little thing is so cute!!!!

  • Looks skitish. But sooo cute.

  • They're like super slim miniature dogs with ginormous ears

  • like chiwawas with bigger ears

  • Aww, it's playing!

  • HA! I was expecting a more vicious bite. I still want one. :) And yes, I would be willing to go through any classes/training needed to care for one of these rarities.

  • did you feed them.thats mybe why

  • i still cant find out how to get on of these.......

  • type on google , fennce fox for sale

  • Usually you need to have a special permit in order to even own one. Also, to have one it's almost always necessary that you have a purpose to own one, i.e educating school children of fennec's, etc. I'm sure you could find information on google, like redsaber123 said ^_^

  • This little ball of cuteness appears to be ready to sample some human flesh. Scary.

  • thats a ridiculously adorable animal right there.

  • That sneaky little shit.

  • cute ^^

  • why do they bite?/nibble is it like when parrots try to eat you? or small fish, they check you out with the mouth?

  • ha ha it seems the fennec thinks your leg is a big christmas ham!

  • Its only a love bite.....and aren't fennec foxes nocturnal or the domesticated ones aren't?

  • it's a love nibble!! :P he likes your leg ;] ..erm..or she...i dunno...

  • I live in Michigan. Does anyone know if they're legal there and if so, does anyone know a reliable breeder?

  • there illegal in the states but ucan get 1 from japan and smuggle it back ;)

  • Actually, you can get them in the US and Canada. Many states they are perfectly OK.

  • if you go to juliesjungle . com, she breeds them... i think they're probably legal if you get a permit, like in most of the US.

  • i love foxes

  • what the heck are you ppl talking about bitting thats a freaking nibble.

  • Really, though, I've risked my skin playing with house cats that bite much harder. I don't see you "release all the wild animals" people complaining when the CATS unwittingly scar you with their claws, but if a Fennec Fox bites you all spring into action about wild release blah blah speech.

  • how a cutiee! I have a littlest pet shop figure that looks just like it! how many are they? two?

  • Oh yes, you're right! I seem to remember that they started retaining 'puppy' characteristics as adults, ironically making them rather useless for the fur industry. :)

  • Yeah, patchy fur colors, floppy ears, short legs and tail, curly tail, shorter muzzle and wider face, they bark, any or all of the above can be found in almost any of Belyavev's Domesticated Foxes. Most prevalent, though, are the patchy fur patterns normally only found in domesticated dogs. The answer being, according to the study paper, is the adrenaline level is much lower in the domesticated ones.

  • Cute, cute but I think they should be in their habitat in the wild...

  • ditto on both counts

  • Why? If they are well fed, protected from disease and weather, given toys and playmates, and their owner sees to it that they are comfortable in every way, then why? None of that is guaranteed in the wild. In fact, their lives are stressful, frequently unhealthy and often a fraction of the length of a fox's life in captivity.

  • "and their owner sees to it that they are comfortable in every way"

That's the gotcha. So many fennec owners, or owner of any non-domesticated animal (or even domesticated animal for that matter) haven't done the research and don't know what makes the animal 'comfortable'. Made worse when people aren't willing to pay the added money to buy a captive bread animal instead of a wild caught, and even more worse when they're not prepared to pay the much more expensive vet bills.

  • My point was that there is no moral problem with keeping any animal, providing that animal is cared for in a way that provides for its needs. I agree that many exotic owners aren't as educated as they should be, but there are also many who actually do the research and take the extra time and money. That's all.

  • I agree. I'm just pointing out that there's far more of the former than the latter. Which is why I'm not opposed to heavy restrictions and even bans of owning particular exotic animals frequently abused.

  • Well, I'm opposed to bans on principle, just because you're starting from the position that no one should do it. I live in California where most every exotic is banned, even gerbils. I'm for allowing people to take a class, pay a fee and gain a permit, like they have to do to drive a car. I think people tend to favor bans way to quickly.

  • I understand why bans happen in most places. Usually it's out of concern of invasive species. I agree that permits are ideal, but sometimes the state just won't give the money necessary to police that sort of arrangement. So it either becomes moot and pointless or the animal is outright banned. And I would rather a ban than a lacklustre system which doesn't prevent people from abusing their animals.

  • I actually do agree with you, with the caveat that people seem quick to ban things they don't understand or personally feel a need for. Once it's about something they want for themselves, it's a different story.

  • continued: I don't want to ban pitbulls, either, because that punishes the responsible owners as well as the irresponsible ones. I know the bans are meant to protect the animals, but responsible owners lose their animals to the bans and they wind up destroyed, which seems far from beneficial for the animal.

  • I agree. Pitbulls is a hard subject to define particularly with so many shades of gray both in behavior (lots of perfectly happy nonaggressive pits) and in breeding (the problem of pit hybrids). There's also, imo, far more responsible pit owners than responsible exotics owners.

  • continued: But I also think that certain heavily abused, lesser kept exotics like fennecs and, for example, large predatory reptiles (which is my specialty) that gray area is much smaller.

  • last cont: For example an alligator which is confiscated may have to be destroyed, but otherwise living with someone who bought it for vanity reasons leaves the market open to those people as well as exposes the gator to possibly years and years of incorrect care resulting to its death. I've often seen gators who have been stunted for the convenience of owners later die from digestive and respiratory problems. I've also seen incorrect diets for fennec foxes in many youtube videos.

  • THEIR SO CUTE :p

  • the camera man got owned haha

  • it wasnt biting you for putting clothpegs on it ears was it?

  • wats that little fox's name?

  • Ok..I kinda take the last comment back.. go ahead and dalete it if you want to k.

    They're sooo cute!

  • She is beautiful!!

    her bite aches?

  • humm you must taste good...j/k X)

  • poor animal and u idiot ppl,its a wild animal,u got no right to keep a wild animal at home ,its just cruel.they dont have to be kept at home just because u want something to play with.

  • The fox was probably born and raised in captivity. If you tried releasing it into the wild, it would most likely die.

  • Wolves can "Stray" away from their pack/natural environment. But what Ristuka probably thought was a wolf was a husky. They look pretty similair after all =\. I saw one around where I use to live. She let me pet her etc. And of course a real wolf wouldn't do that unless it was raised as a pet.

  • Any one that thinks this fox is wild is lame. unless this person is in the middle of the african desert, its not wild. ..... oh and all k9s nip like that. i have found one of the best way to train them not to nip is: when they bite stick your finger in their mouth and hold down the tongue like a depressor. doesnt hurt them but it is annoying.
