That was a marathon for ABC's broadcasters! Marty's troupe covered the Motegi race, traveled to Tokyo, flew to Los Angeles then got to Long Beach to cover the final Champ Car race!
I honestly believe that both series could have survived, if both series weren't so hated by each other. Oh well hopefully the new cars can be as exciting as the DP01s were.
Piss off you Indycar, bring us back CHAMP CAR!! A real series, traveling all over the world, not the fucking IRL tries to stay intact in the USA. Return Indy 500 to Champ Car! The ghost of Champ Car will kill Indycar and the Champ Car name will return
What the hell is wrong with Danica?? I mean honestly, put aside the bias against the IRL and just appreciate that there IS some significance to her victory, and that it was pretty freaking cool to witness.
It's only fitting that history is made for 2 days in a row. Danica got her first win in Motegi and she made history, and then the next day in Long Beach where the finale of the Champ Car World Series took place, several drivers were racing for the championship points in the IndyCar Series, and some other drivers were racing just for the win at Long Beach who were not continuing on to the IRL Championship
lol they are a bit overstating the historic world wide importance of that win.
Maybe he should have said things like, it´s like Claudia Hürtgen winning the Dakar, or like Michelle Mouton winning the Rally world championship in the 80s.
@Raikkonenrules9 Champ Car did survive. Its best teams, drivers, and tracks are now part of the IZOD IndyCar Series. Turbocharged engines will also return in 2012.

@IndyCarAce Champ Car hasn't survived, The new Dallara chassis is only seventy-five pounds lighter than the current one, where as the old Panoz DP01 chassis was a hundred to a hundred twenty-five pounds light, and the current F1 chassis is significantly less. Also, the IRL is still mandating production based engines, that do not exceed 700hp. CART / Champ Car *is* dead. The teams that migrated to the Incompetent Racing League did so out of necessity.
@SocialAutism How can CART/CC be dead when its best teams, drivers, and tracks are now part of the IZOD IndyCar Series? 50% ovals + 50% road/street courses = CART. 10/17 tracks on the 2010 schedule and 11/17 tracks on the 2011 schedule hosted CART/CC races in the past. Today's IndyCars are powered by race engines. The 2012 IndyCar will be powered by turbocharged race engines not production engines. Looks like CART's legacy lives on in the IZOD IndyCar Series.

@IndyCarAce A handful of circuits on the current IRL roster also held the F1 American Grand Prix. By your logic, does that now mean IRL is comparable to Formula One? Obviously, I'm being facetious, because your logic isn't as empirical as you'd like it to be. Also, the current generation Indycars aren't using race developed engines. They use modified production engines. Same ordeal in 2012. Learn to read.
@SocialAutism No production Honda car is powered by a V8 engine or a turbocharged engine, so how can Honda's IndyCar race engines be modified production engines? Looks like you're the one who needs to learn how to read simple tech information from IndyCar.com and Honda.com. And IndyCar isn't just comparable to F1. IndyCar is better than F1 because IndyCar champions must master both oval and road/street racing (just like CART champions).
@IndyCarAce Honda owns Acura, correct? Honda is actively involved in the design and development of Acura's production and racing engines, correct? Also, it takes no talent to master an oval. I know this as fact. And yes, Acura does produce production V8s.
@SocialAutism None of Acura production cars are powered by V8 engines either. And if it takes no talent to master oval racing, then why can't more drivers do it? Why have former F1 drivers crashed on ovals? If you really are a CART fan, then why do you insult CART champions?
@IndyCarAce Acura has used V8 engines in previous production models. So, it defaults back to the "production-based." How many regulars in the series crash on ovals and how frequently? I insult CART champions for being involved with the IRL.
@SocialAutism Name me 1 production Acura that was powered by a V8 engine.
CART had ovals too. Former F1 drivers such as Piquet, Mansell, and Sato crashed on ovals. If it takes no talent to master oval racing, then you try racing an IndyCar at over 220 MPH.
extraño ver las carreras de la champ car,una de las mejores series de automovilismo que he visto hasta ahora, ovalos, circuitos callejeros, variedad de pistas y la emocion de la velocidad
