You have to understand that while the south has been protesting for their rights and being slaughtered by this regime's forces, the north has been relatively silent to the government's actions for the past 20 years. Only NOW have they begun to rise up. Inshallah it continues however and the government is removed asap.

However, Yemen has a lot of problems, most of which are caused directly by the government. Unfortunately, like most Muslim countries, we are led by a corrupt evil leader who robs the wealth of Yemen for his own benefit while his people die of hunger and poverty. A more realistic approach (with respect to Yemen) would be the formation of a prosperous, corruption-free state in the south, which would then serve an example to the rest of the neighbouring Arab nations. One step at a time...

@yemen1989. WaAlaikum Assalam. Ya Akhi, yes its true we did have a lot of good things from back in the days of socialism, such as education, law, health etc.
But it is important to never pretend that those times were brilliant, and everything was perfect, because this was not the case at all.
Unfortunately, the strict socialist rule in the south did not allow the country to prosper as well as it could have...restrictions on travel, business meant that quality of life was generally poor.

About the 2 different states, we have always been separate states anyway! We have only ever been ''united'' for the past 20 years, before that it was North and South Yemen. And relations between the two were better than they are now! That is why we had a unity! The south WANTED to become one with the north...but since that agreement/unity which they both signed fell apart, we want to return to our own former state. And as long as the north remains silent, we will continue this way...

The US works for Israel; the more separated Arab are the less of a threat we pose to Israel. And just because the people of Sanaa and Aden are different in terms of mentality and culture does not prove in any way that there should be separation. This is simply a bogus argument. Every country has variance in culture.

@ibnesa. Its not such a simple issue of separation, there's a lot more behind it. You have to understand that while the south has been protesting for their rights and being slaughtered by this regime's forces, the north has been relatively silent to the government's actions for the past 20 years. Only NOW have they begun to rise up. Inshallah it continues however and the government is removed asap.

However, Yemen has a lot of problems, most of which are caused directly by the government. Unfortunately, like most Muslim countries, we are led by a corrupt evil leader who robs the wealth of Yemen for his own benefit while his people die of hunger and poverty. But it is important to never pretend that those times were brilliant, and everything was perfect, because this was not the case at all.
Unfortunately, the strict socialist rule in the south did not allow the country to prosper as well as it could have...restrictions on travel, business meant that quality of life was generally poor.

Khalas, now we no longer want socialism, we have tried it, and as much as it was good (health/law/education), it was also bad and we need something else. Even Ali Salem Al-Beidh said himself that he is no longer a socialist.
Personally, I believe that secularism is not the answer, we MUST apply Islam correctly and fairly.

About the 2 different states, we have always been separate states anyway! We have only ever been ''united'' for the past 20 years, before that it was North and South Yemen. And relations between the two were better than they are now! That is why we had a unity! The south WANTED to become one with the north...but since that agreement/unity which they both signed fell apart, we want to return to our own former state. And as long as the north remains silent, we will continue this way...

These are the people who traveled to the Southern and Eastern provinces and looted and stole land of the south. cuz in somalia, we got problems with tribes innit, lyk somaliland an Unrecognized state which iz basically one tribe called issaq, den puntland in northeastern somalia which iz semiautonomous, cuz somalia iz war-torn country, but no we have islamic law in,soz no more tribes, rapists are stoned to death, killers are beheaded, no more khat. dats god innit?
