Not only is the date wrong, but also the "hit" New Orleans "fact" is incorrect. Katrina never hit NOLA. The levees (more correct to say flood walls) failed at 3am while Katrina was still in excess of 140 miles away. Katrina made landfall 90 miles away from NOLA in Buras, LA and then again in Waveland, MS. NOLA had damage as a result of Katrina, but was spared the actual storm. That unfortunately was reserved for the coast of Mississippi.

The flood walls actually started failing later on in the morning of the 29th, after Katrina had already moved abeam and past New Orleans, hitting the Gulf Coast. I've lived in New Orleans all of my life and I still do, the gov't was lying THE WHOLE TIME! Things are back to normal but I can still remember it like it was a month ago. The levees were not repaired to with category 4 or 5 hurricanes. Even a category 3 would be capable of breaching the levees. I didnt end up going until 2007 for the Bayou Classic and i was so emotinal walking through the airport n superdome thinkin that ppl died where i was standing waiting for help.

the superdome was still missing small parts of the roof and ten cities were all around the superdome. when we flew over n saw the damage, my heart sank.
