  • How do I live in Orlando and not know that's what happened.... shame. Siiigh I remember going to the old Nick Studios as a kid. Got to see the Wendy Woo set, although I was under the impression I was going to see like All That or something but whatever. Cool memory none the less. haha

  • @bewarethedecks the store is still there.!! I went in it during spring break.(: I made a spongebob.(:

  • @TheBuggyBird

I never received an Email about this reply. Just to make sure I understand what you said. You went to Universal Studios in Florida, went to the old Nickelodeon Studios complex and found a Nick store? Strange that the Wikipedia listings for Nickelodeon Studios and Sharp Aquos Theatre fail to mention that a Nickelodeon Store still resides in the buildings.

There may be a store @ the Nick Hotel, but I'm not sure about the original one @ Universal still being in operation.

  • @TheBuggyBird ME TOO! Did you get to choose 18 peices too

  • i don´t understand!! why they have to close nickelodeon studios??

  • Again, Blue Man Group had nothing to do with what happened to Nickelodeon Studios. The facility had been vacated for 18 months before BMG even entered into the picture.

The reasons for the closure have been spelled out several times in many of the Nickelodeon Studios tributes (including Josh Yawn's) here on YouTube as well as Josh's own website devoted to the facility.

  • Fuck you Blue Man Group! I want Nickelodeon Studios back!!! You guys suck...it's like you stole my childhood!

  • They could've built the damn place in LA.

  • Its actually a great simpsons ride, although all my life Ive always wanted to go to and be part of a "live studio audience at Nickelodeon Studios in Orlando, Fl"

  • wait what happened to the time capsule

  • @RD199912345

The time capsule is now @ the Nickelodeon Suites Resort (the Nick Hotel).

  • @RD199912345 It got re-buried near the Nick Hotel

  • @DenisAndrejev - Correct!

  • Thats just horrible. I loved Nickelodeon Studios now when I turn the tv on all I find is crap and my life is forever boring now.

The blue mans group is not even that good

  • the blue people scared me lol

  • The time capsule was moved to the Nick Hotel. It is located just outside the main entrance to the building.

Recently, someone took a picture of the time capsule and posted it on the family.webshots website.

  • blue man group is creepy

  • amen to that

  • Memories : ........(

  • just out of curiosity

what does the blue man group have to do with Nickelodeon sucking?

though i have to agree that Nickelodeon has been sucking bad for the past ten years

  • BMG is being blamed for something that is not their fault.

There are 2 main (and some minor) reasons why Nickelodeon closed the Orlando facility back in 2005.

    1) The network's target audience lost interest in game shows (the type of program Nickelodeon Studios was built for).

    2) Because actors refused to move from Los Angeles to Orlando, Nickelodeon could not develop new scripted shows for Nickelodeon Studios.

  • @ bewarethedecks: We blame BMG because the place that kids and teenagers love has closed, and some dumb old Blue Man Group is standing in it's place.

  • Denis,

How can BMG be blamed for the closure? The complex was empty for 18 months!

The reasons I spelled out earlier are the true reasons for the closing of Nickelodeon Studios.

Take a look at You Tuber Josh Yawn's website cmonfwank, com

He had friends who worked for Nickelodeon and on his website he has an extensive tribute to Nickelodeon Studios. He also spells out the reasons for the closure.

BMG is not one of those reasons.

  • @bewarethedecks I think it would be best that there would be some kind of a Nickelodeon Animation studio, maybe a broadcasting center, maybe even a Nickelodeon Store in its place, but not BMG. Imagine, for example, a child with their parents coming to Nickelodeon Studios, not knowing that it has been closed, they look at it, and there are some blue-skinned male group, that barely anyone knows about. NS Was our last hope for Classic Nick, but now everything's gone... Forever.

  • @DenisAndrejev Okay, a few things wrong with that comment:

    1) It closed 5 years ago. No parents are going to be surprised by this.

    2) Nickelodeon abandoned the building completely. They CHOSE to leave & not put anything else there. Nick made that decision, NOT the Blue Men.

    3) What does "our last home for Classic Nick" even mean?

    4) BMG being a group "barely anyone knows about", question mark.

  • @CaptHayfever

And also....there was an 18 month gap between the time Nickelodeon left Universal and the time BMG surfaced.

  • @DenisAndrejev

There WAS a store there. But people stopped going in. How could Nickelodeon justify the cost of keeping the place open and paying people to sit there and do nothing?

    It makes no sense!

Nickelodeon has an animation studio in California. Why do you suppose they chose to locate it there instead of Orlando?

There was nothing Nickelodeon could do. No museum....no store....nothing. Is it a shame? Yes!!

But time had moved on....and left Nickelodeon Studios behind.

  • I will be 55 years old when they open it up. WOW!!!! I forgot what they put in it?

  • Check out Wikipedia's listing for Nickelodeon Studios. There is a small list of some of the things that were placed inside the time capsule.

  • dude, i'll be 50 when they open the time capsul.

i'm gonna be telling my kids/grandkids "when i was a kid.. THIS was the good stuff; hell it stil is!"

  • um well i think nick dropped out on universal because it seems that nick goes full out on cartoons and not the classic game shows u all love so its not all universals blame

  • The Blue Man Group used to be cool, during the period of their first album, but now a lot of times you see one of their 'performances' they aren't even playing music, just pissing around making people laugh, and their 'Complex' album completely sucks.

  • im going to open that thing up one day!

  • Wait 33 years.

  • The Blue Man Group suck! It wasn't the least bit entertaining when I had to go their ... I wished they'd kept nick ...getting slimed was funn:]

  • UPDATE: Thanks alot guys, i finnally got a thousand views! YOU RULE!

  • The time capsule was moved to the Nick Hotel. It is located just outside the main entrance to the building.

Nickelodeon Studios was closed for 18 months before Blue Man Group entered into the picture. BMG had nothing to do with what happened to Nickelodeon Studios, yet people, to this day, continue to blame them.

  • fuck the damn blue man group!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • is the time capsul still burried

  • whaaaat? the building changed? I didnt know im going this nov. I actually got slimed years ago!!!...i have proof froma certificate lol

  • Remember when you wanted to be You Tube Master????

  • I've been to Nick studios!! Thats was back in 2004...I remember seeing the Slim Time Set and I was almost freaking out. I wanted to get slimed so badly...and eat it. XD Back then I've heard it tastes like pudding. <3

    Haha, no lie.

  • Hah yeah, it IS pudding. I never got to taste it but I remember one of the contestants on Figure it Out exclaimed "it's pudding!" and almost got in trouble.

  • When I worked at Nick nobody liked it . It was hot during the summer . Many were happy to move out to New York or California

  • so blue man group is the shiz not gonna lie HOWEVER i feel that universals biggest mistake was selling nick. o how i miss then days when cartoons had a plot, there was a sketch comedy show that everyone in my family could enjoy, ARE YOU AFRIAD OF THE DARK (nuff said). I puked in nick studios once when they had me try some goo thing. o how the glory days r gone and replaced with this ADHD nonsense crap. o how the youth shall suffer and never know what good tv is

  • oddly on u pick live they had the blue men group!

  • No nick studois, one word... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?!

  • I'm glad that some of us got to experience Nick back when it still was "The First Kids Network." I'll never forget your Nick, you were there for me. Today you are a mere shell of an existence. You sold out. You don't stand for anything anymore. We stood for slime, farts, and pies in the face. Classic Nick... never forget...

  • i totally miss the old shows. I hate the new ones

  • *sniffers*

i went to nick studios, it was the awesomest place i've ever been to .

  • I saw "Figure It Out" THere in 1997. It was great and they taped it for TV. I got to do a talent thing like they did at the end of the show...I said the alphabet backwards

  • Canichenoir, that was you??!??!?!? You were FREAKIN lucky to be on the end of Figure It Out!!!!!!! OMG!! THAT'S SOOOO COOOL!!!

  • I'm serious, It really was me. I was like 7 then, now I'm 18. But yes, Dead serious.

  • I saw that!!! :)

  • It's a cool memory to look back on 11 years later

  • You know what the sad thing is? If they did make a channel that showed nothing but the old shows, it would degrade into only 6 shows a day like Nick GaS did. Nick doesn't care about it's past. The shutting down of Nick GaS only further illustrates this point. It doesn't help that the first shot shown on a new separate The N was a female shaking her butt. My mom even thinks Nick has gone way downhill.

  • I know, that pissed me off that they took off all the Marc Summers Double Dare episodes, and my favorite block, Pumping GAS (with none of those stupid commercials) and just put on the same episodes of the same 6 shows 3 times a day. I am so glad I lived in the better era of Nick--with slime, mess, pies, gak, and prizes.

  • I say they should bring the spirit of the old Nickelodeon back, and make a new network. Nickstalgia. Show reruns of the old shows, from Double Dare and Pinwheel to Salute Your Shorts and Maple Town, and everything in between. Nickstalgia, my memories! If we can't go here anymore, they should give us this.

  • Yeah, they should do that. I want to see reruns of Clarissa Explains it All, that show owned. :)

Also, I want to see Are You Afraid of The Dark. Back then it really scared me, but I doubt it would now. :)

  • so having gone through high school and puberty i sudennly realize how clarissa though young as she was had the insight of the most wise people on earth

  • OMG WTF!!! =(

  • that's not the point.

we all want the old nick studios back, even though viacom abandoned it. and it was never "offices".

just think of it like this: redesigning it and putting blueman group there is like redesigning the first mcdonalds and turning it into a new burger king. its just wrong.

  • all good things cant last forever
