The only people who thought he was a great man were the ones who qualify as the 2% of Egypt - ie the business, the corrupt, and the tools. I respect this man cos his wisdom and his experiences help egypt to avoid so many risks. The Majority of egyptians still loving him and deal with him as a symbol of the real patriot not only president.Don't forget that Egypt located on (the middle East) a fire territory.
No personal attacks. This is a free world. Egypt is a country of institutions and the issue of Mubarak's successor will be the choice of Egyptians, it's a no brainer. No one can individually impose a view based on what he likes. We hope we can work more on the improvement of our individual lives before going into deep political disputes without having much of the essential background knowledge regarding our national constants, pledge to respect our regional and international commitments.
Well, no one is imposing a view here. It is rather an opinion. Moreover I do not claim I am solving the problems by words. You in fact supported Gamal Mubarak in several comments, before you declare that we should impose our views. I am just opposing this support and giving my reasons for that. This is not to solve all the problems Egypt has: just to avoid more problems. As to ignorance or expertise, I do disagree again, as everyone is free to express his opinion.
He's avoiding direct answers. As for Gamal's issue, Egypt has several qualified people more intelligent than Gamal. Gamal is just a Banker, and the Son of the current president. I do no think these are sufficient reasons for him to be a president. The president of a country should be the wiser and most experienced person in Egypt. And for sure, this person is not Gamal Mubarak.
Any well educated Egyptian young man with experience in politics and who has a kind of support and most importantly "Loved by people" would be much better than him. This is just to give an example. As for the wisdom issue, just to name a few " Mohamed El Baradei, Ahmed Zweil, Amr Moussa or Even Omar Soliman" would be much more qualified than the young Mubarak.
P.S.: no need for personal attacks as I do not claim any expertise. I do make use of the freedom of speech you claim it exists!
Mubarak has to establish his legacy by terminating his presidency at the end of the current term and give the chance to Gamal Mubarak to advance into leadership during his father's life time. This way, Mubarak will be the first president to retire based on his sole choice while keeping a close eye on fine-adjusting Gamal's political views and directions. This will save Egypt a lot of hassles from fanatics or street gangs who want to take over with the country without having any clear agendas.
First, Gamal Mubarak doesnt have 2 be the only solution to the country. A country with a population over 70 million can sure have more than one person who can elect himself as president.
Second, I live in Egypt and I am confident that the last thing I will fear is the fanatics or street gangs in Egypt. Egypt is not like Iraq. We do have freedom of speech to a large extent. That doesn't mean that there isn't any oppression in Egypt but not to the extent of fanatics and street gangs.
If I spin the alternatives in any way, I'll end up concluding that Egypt is better off with Gamal. We don't need new administrations trying funky things on people. Gamal's family knows the ins and outs of today's world. You said that in Egypt, freedom of speech is established "to a large extent" which brings credit to Mubarak's table. What's the alternative? Abdul-Halim Kandeel? or stone-age fanatics? Gamal'll retain Mubarak's wisdom but with effectively refined changes on the social stage.
I will have to disagree with you on the point that Egypt is better off with Gamal. I would say I don't agree with Mubarak specially in his internal policies. Gamal, like father like son, will probably have the same policies. Ofcourse that isn't for sure. A country as huge as Egypt deserves to take the risk to try someone new with new ideas. Ofcourse, there is no one on my mind that can fit to be president after Mubarak, not even Gamal.
Are you saying that Gamal's credentials are higher than any1 else in Egypt?
People voting for Gamal will probably do it to avoid any changes in the policies, even f these changes are positive. It is justifiable ofcourse. There is an egyptian saying: What u know is better then u dont. F people see Gamal as president they should do that because he is the best man for the job, not because he is Mubarak's son. A lot of people know the insides of Egyptian politics and maybe even more than Gamal.

Zionism is the belief that God has given a piece of land to the Jews and they can take it by force.
They can kill, burn and bulldoze to get what they believe GOD gave them.
That is racism with a divine license to KILL.
This is the ROOT cause of the reactionary Islamic Terror.
Zionists believe the land upto the Euphrates (IN EGPYT) has been given to them by GOD !!
Get ready for LOTS and LOTS of deception and human suffering in that area.
The Antichrist will soon rule from Israel .
