  • Morrissey lyrics just sound so arrogant compared to The Smiths lyrics.

"I know because I see them, very very often." Really? REALLY?"

  • it's like morrissey is doing a morrissey impression.

  • The electric guitarist is shit

  • no suena igual, no es lo mismo sin jhonny marr

  • My, his voice has changed a lot as he's gotten older...although this is just not a very good performance...but it's sort of making me sad...

  • @YaSoshlaSUma95 but still perfect (:

  • Garbo y grandeza, maestro.

    Yo le amo.

  • Moz looks like it´s on cocaine

  • Morrissey has changed, alot, but hes still Morrissey either ways. Long live Morrissey!. If onlyy I was alive back in the days :(

  • England's a swine?

  • this drum is annoying, and i think, always and always this song is really really better when johnny still was there.

  • fuck no, just he is really old. and oneday he will be dead, i don't know how i'm completely horrible feeling. :( so please long live morrissey...

  • Morrissey is the only reason the smiths were good if it wasnt for him the smiths would be nothing viva moz

  • fuck he's old

  • @boomboxSugar its not a crime to be old ! or to be fukkin amazing .....

  • Nice shirt

  • "It just wasnt like the Old Days anymore." He can say that again. In his youth Morrissey's voice was so melodic. In this performance it's very flat. He's done much better than this recently. Plus, those muppets in the background cannot hold a candle to Marr. Look up Still Ill live posted by theoriginalmilo to see how this song should sound by The Smiths. Fuggn fantastic.

  • @co94

  • what guitar is it that the lead guitarist is using? It looks like a fender headpiece...but I've never seen one like that...it looks awesome though

  • @zreidsnider It's a Fender Starcaster. The guy from The Killer uses one sometimes too.

  • @negromister I dont see a strat i see an acoustic, some hollow body thing and a fender precision bass

  • @MotorheadDrew It ain't a strat or a starcaster, It's a Gibson infact, I've seen it before but I can't think what it is, some signature variation of a 175. Notice the Firebird headstock.

  • @thumzupp read my comment again it said i didnt see a strat xD :P and i was just pointed out wht bass the bassist used :]

  • England is wine? WTF love u MOZZ

  • @oosnake England's a swine is what he changes it to.

  • ide like to shove that drumkit up his arse, what are you doing morrisey with those bunch of clowns,

  • @friginnutz haha exactly my thoughts!

  • Morissey looks like a sugar daddy in that outfit

  • England's a swine... how he surprises me...

  • is that a huge picture of oscar wilde?

  • @equallyeasilyfuqyou

yes. that is a huge picture of oscar wilde behind morrisey et al

  • The guitar is the closest to the smiths version. The drums and bass and even Moz's voice are all more different to me.

  • morrisey doesnt function properly without marr, the day they get back together, will be the best day ever

  • NOT even close to the Smiths' performance.

  • The drums are too bombastic... I prefer Mike Joyce's.

  • no marr no smiths

  • @FleshHungryFiend That's why it's MORRISSSEY!, not the Smiths!

  • @FleshHungryFiend thats a little unfair

  • @FleshHungryFiend Thats why this is not The Smiths.

  • @FleshHungryFiend I think the most important member of the Smiths is ANDY FUCKIN' ROUKE!!! Without him both Morrissey and Marr would be useless.

  • I love the picture of Oscar Wilde on the back wall....

    Both great word smiths....

  • the queen is dead

  • To be honest, I don't think the guitar playing is that bad at all! Sounds very true to Marr.

  • @billtambo true although whats he doing playing that guitar, go and buy yourself a rickenbacker, mate

  • Get off!

  • @19189073 4 years ago!! What about the original, now over a quarter of a century old !!!! That time has flown even further!!!

Still a great tune after all this time.

  • england's a swine , brilliant hahahaha

  • REACT

    Pen is position opinion (RANK)

  • Is this a huge picture of Oscar Wilde in the background? This is great!

    I miss the Smiths!

  • It's beautiful to see how his voice and his stage performance has progressed through the years. This song being on the very first Smiths LP...the man seems more proud and exuberant these days. Still ill in love with his brooding and maudlin early style.

  • @keaneterpol I fully agree man!

  • Ask me why and I'll SPIT in your EYE!!!

  • I'm STILL fucken ILL!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • coitado do mozz... ele nem ta aguentando cantar mais =PPPP

  • he is way better without them.

  • at 2:54 you can see how hard those johnny marr guitar licks are...

  • dude i can already tell we have very similar music tastes, is your name off TMV's debut album deloused in the commatorium, I just commented in another vid about how hard it was to play those licks, marr was a great guitarist and completed the smiths in a way no other axe wielder could

  • Yes, it is! Two of my favorite bands. I saw Morrissey and TMV this year in Chicago. Johnny Marr is amazing as is Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, in both their styles of course...

  • you can easily see it if you bare in mind that this formation needs 2 guitars onstage. as far as i know, the smiths only had one single guitarist who played the stuff for which this lineup needs two. correct me if i'm wrong

  • yes you are right for the first half of the smiths career, but around the middle the smiths recruited craig gannon. if you listen to the "rank" album it's two guitars.

  • they have an Italian flag because he's playing in Italy...

  • its not italy its spain...

  • why the italian flag?

  • He lives in Rome or did if not now

  • @shampoohoo

    Moz lives in Paris now

  • Morrisey loves Italian rockville, check his band clothes and style.

  • he age gracefully ..and still sings good.

  • I love Morrissey. I adore him. And thats why he should hang it up.

  • This video really makes me realize that Morrissey ages just like everyone else. I mean no matter how timeless the smiths are, he's OLD now.

  • brilliant!

  • Get a grip.

Marr was easily the most influential member of the group.

  • screw you, morrissey ftw!

  • tiny dick virgin pap...

    fuck off then

  • I stated that he wrote the guitar, bass (With Andy Rourke), drum, piano and string arrangements. Which he did. I said nothing about lyrics.

  • Yes Morrissey wrote the lyrics... What does that have to do with anything?

I just stated that Marr was the creative force behind them, clearly.

  • He looks And sounds so Pissed... Weird

  • Depressingly half-arsed and uninspired... Oh well.

  • He must be more passioned when he sings smiths hymns. I really want to see moz and marr together..

  • I'm sure Morrissey misses Johnny =/

Both complemented each other to the point where nobody could touch them musically. Amazing.

  • Suprisingly Morrissey doesn't miss Johnny in the slightest and shows no intrest in a renounion. I no no one agrees with me but I think although The Smiths were more consistant, Morrissey solo has made much greater things.

  • I'm sure he does deep down, i mean... He was so so close to him. Morrissey has made fantastic music when being solo, but i believe his strongest work was with The Smiths. I actually had the fortune of meeting Johnny Marr last week, what a great man!

  • Wrong, Morrissey has created nothing note worthy compared to the Smiths

  • Why surprising? I do not hang out with the same people that I knew 15 or 20 years ago, either. Moz has moved on.

Oh, and no way is Moz solo better than the Smiths. that's is why no-one agrees with that one.

  • morrisey is high on cocaine there

  • Does the body rule the mind or does the mind rule the body ?? --- good question by the way :-) You have to laugh inside to these lyrics they are so brilliant... Even the sad ones are so ironic in a very original way...

  • I miss Marr :(

  • I miss Alan Whyte...LOL

  • I agree, Moz has had some good Marr-substitutes (Vini Reilly, Boorer, WHYTE!), but I hate the new overdistorted Jesse Tobias-sound,

  • this just isn't like the old days anymore, he's just not the same as in the old days anymore

  • But we cannot cling to the old days anymore, no we cannot cling...Jk.

  • Ask me why I took the time to comment and I'll spit in your eye.

  • i got news for you...nothing is ever the same...get over it

  • I've got bigger news for you A**hole...

Go fuck yourself and then get over it...

  • hahaha

the internet hurts my feelings so much

  • I just said fuck off, didn't really mean anything by it geeesh!!! Sorry!!!

Now if you'll excuse me I'm about to make your mommy swallow my load.

  • And just to top it all off, your a fucking CANADIAN AEEIIIIHHH!!!

  • wow...that's pretty witty...btw, my mommy's dead and in the ground, so that makes you kind of sick, huh?

  • I'm a necrophiliac, and the worms are delicious...now fuck off, eeeiiiyyyy.

    HEE HEE..

  • well, that's what I was implying, but thanks for confirming

  • "england is swine" :) moz is fuckin awesome!

  • Fuck this song. The Smiths rules...

  • hahah he is funny

    02:20 (L)

  • Dude, it's totally a cover. Morrissey's free to change the words, they were his, but this is a Smiths cover. The music was by The Smiths.

  • Is this Sevn?

  • I love the Smiths, Moz and Marr but this is just as wince-inducing as seeing Brian Wilson wheeled out in his semi-vegetable state to sing Beach Boys tracks.

  • He changes alot of lyrics):

  • what a bloody great song!

  • legend!

  • Seems to be having a lot of fun here. I DON'T-A KNOOOOOOOOW!

  • Morrissey is moving up in the world. Looks like he now has Right Said Fred playing guitar for him.

  • lol. The guitarist is deeply dippy for C major i hear

  • Never heard that expression before. Please translate. By the way, why are they all wearing matching red shirts?

  • The shirt! The Shirt!

  • pity the poor bastard on guitar here. he sounds like shite compared to johnny marr.

  • but only johnny marr can play johnny marr...its not this guys fault.

  • Did he say "England is swine"? :D

Anyway, one of the best songs by The Smiths imho.

  • Yep, instead of England is mine. LOL.

He actually says 'England's a swine'.

  • Morrissey is the absolute best.

  • Reminds me and all the people I work with, going through the motions, pretending we care; He's lost without Johnny,I think pop music died when The Smiths split; Long Live The Smiths!!!

  • fool moz is god jonny played a instrument get alife the writer is king.

  • Fuck that. You are so wrong its unbelievable.

  • I hate you

Johnny was, in my impinion, just as important in the smiths as morrisey, and i'd say he has more talent. Although it only ever really worked when they were togethor.

  • Plus.. Johnny wrote some of the lyrics AND wrote ALL the music. So he definatly has a 1 up on Morrissey.

  • ok faiarplay, they were great together.

  • Ha ha Glad you agree.

  • what lyrics did marr write?

  • None.

  • what is maximusv1 talking about?

  • God knows, mate.

  • He just wrote the mind blowing guitar

  • Correct. Jeez they split WAY too soon. Strangeways Here We Come was a classic and that was the end........

  • Johnny wrote everything in The Smiths.

The guitar, bass, drums, even the piano and string arrangements. He produced and mixed everything. I believe Johnny was the driving force behind The Smiths, don't get me wrong Morrissey was also a genius. I just think Johnny added the creative element to the band. Not forgetting Rourke and Joyce, they did what they had to do. Nobody could have pulled it off other than those two. At the end of the day though, what a band. One of the greatest.

  • i agree. i believe that johnny was the true artist in this band.

  • Care to tell me on which song/s did Marr write the lyrics?

  • I'm sure he's made for life by this time. If he wasn't still excited he wouldn't still be doing it. However, I don't think he's completely lost without Marr a lot of his solo work at least the early stuff was fantastic just like The Smiths. Besides, Marr is more lost he's with Modest Mouse now taking orders from a man half his age. Modest Mouse is fucking great and I like that Marr is with them now but he seems like he's trying too hard to stay in the mainstream joining them. So Morrissey wins.

  • Not that Morrissey isn't mainstream mind you. Just he doesn't have to try and Marr's group choice seems as though he is trying to hard. Also "taking orders" was a little harsh but you know what I mean Isaac Brock is and will stay Modest Mouse's leader and Modest Mouse survives with or without Marr so that's what I mean by he's more lost. He's just the cherry on top of the Modest Mouse shake. Morrissey has lost his cherry but is still the a shake. Morrissey wins. LOL

  • Morrisey sucks without marr, face it. The musics just dreadfull compared to when he was with marr. I MUCH prefer marr over morrisey, and this cover is fairly awful.

  • Face it? Jeez, chill . . . the only reason this is awful is because he's old and it's harder to do what he used to vocally . . . again Marr doesn't have to have as much courage as Morrisey because Marr just has to strum a guitar that doesn't go away with age unless you have arthritis . . . vocals always fade unless you use them correctly like opera/classical music, and even then those fade too . . . so chill brah, I have a plenty valid opinion . . .

  • no cover morrissey owns it hey ho marr o'rourke and joyce ripped the moz off......

  • "enland's a swine" Brilliant!!

    love Moz. he's amazing!!

  • very cool.

how do people NOT like morrissey. It drives me nuts. I have many other bands that I like..however, its morrissey.. I mean, the guys is insanely good.

I see him perform Tomorrow. Im going to look that up now. Enjoy people.

  • Some boys are bigger with years...

20 years after Moosey seems not so ill.

But i still love this song as i did when i was younger too.

  • This sounds pretty tame when compared to when the smiths did this song live

  • Découvert ce soir : à me rendre malade moi aussi.

  • why must we get old?

  • we don't have to. We can always die.

  • i miss marr´s guitar

  • he's still got it, surely as such an avid fan you must know that?

modest mouse the healers etc? no? not such a huge fan then?

    thought not.

  • Oscar Wilde is pictured in the behind!

    I love them all!

  • still fucking fantastic long live morrissey

  • ha ha

with a nick name like that you should be seriously ashamed of slagging age for the sake of it.

Moz and Lydon grow old disgracefully, it's always been part of there ethos, still miss sid too? get over it!

  • first i made the name two years ago during a phase i was having i'm not a big fan of the sex pistols now the smiths are amazing and are my favorite band and i love morrissey but his voice is weak now and his solo career is nowhere near as good as the smtihs so how about getting ur head out of ur ass and stop over using ur god complex on the internet u fucking twat

  • Get a new fucking name then! how about SAP?

pistols phase two years ago, what are you 10?

who you gonna be into next week, muse, take that, Dana?

you love Morrissey but just not his voice, says it all really. are you just dreamin of days gone by cos you cant face the reality of your moronic sycophantic superficial tedious existence?

  • ha ha ha ha Morrisseys solo careers older than you! Ive had a pistols "phase" for thirty years and Moz one for twenty five, the fuck would you know about either?! honest? have a day off sap.

  • "are you just dreamin of days gone by cos you cant face the reality of your moronic sycophantic superficial tedious existence?"

    haha! great!

even sounds like something Morrissey would say.

    kudo's

  • Get a new fucking name then! how about SAP?

  • Mozz is the best singer!!!

  • You are the shit!!!!

  • dick my dad listens to morrisey hes just saying the vocals are shit understand.

  • yeahh, you're shit!

  • under the iron bridge we kissed... cute!

  • Wilde perfectly fits in the Moz stuff, especially if you read "De Profundis", you will find that it inspired lots of things, Moz and not only. Plus, they both love beauty for beauty's sake.

  • Why does they have Oscar Wilde? Why? I had Sacha Distel and Pasolini...I want Wilde, too!

  • que grande Morrissey!

  • One of my favourite Smiths songs. His hero Oscar Wilde in the background aswell. Morrissey is a GENIUS!

  • is tht oscar wilde i see in the bk ??

  • It just...wasn't like...the old days anymore.

  • por que no toco esta en mexico??
