Yeah it is amazing how many movies are remakes these days. They just change some things about the characters and stick with pretty much the same plot points.

BTW seeing this movie is cheaper and more fun, then going to the theater to see "Never Back Down".

He played the school janitor but also was a cop//there was an incident he had involvement in that killed his partner @ the beginning of the film...it's not a bad movie really and Blanks was a good host to all of us extras who worked on it!

No, he didn't kill his partner. He killed Tom's sensei's(Lee) brother as a cop and quit the force.

The 2 fighters (played by Kenn Scott & Ken McLeod) were very nice to all of the extras in this film plus Christine Taylor bought us all lunch one day--very cool cast & crew!

Myself, 1st ex-wife, and another friend acted as extras in this movie (filmed in and around Phoenix, AZ.)--there's one scene where the director taped my voice saying, "Oh yeah!" on a previous fight scene (not this one unfortunately :( ) but never got voice compensation for it-oh well...

Oh so thats how this movie ended, I fell asleep the other night before it ended. The funniest part was how the bad ass karate leader in the high school was like 32 years old. This movie was so bad it was hilarious.

It's too bad Ken Scott didn't make it to mainstream after this movie, with his biggest roles being inside a green rubber suit in the original TMNT movies. He did a good job combining action, drama, and comedy in this role.

I like this cheesy martial arts movie for several reasons. There is the blatant and comedic Karate Kid rip-off (or remake, if you prefer), but also Billy Blanks before he became famous with Tae Bo, Christine Taylor before she became a famous actress, and John Mallory Asher being the comedic side-kick in this movie and Double Dragon right before he stars in Weird Science: the series.
